    Life as seen by Lelouch

I have no idea why there is only one review and contrary to that review praising it I found it boring and despite attempts at reasonably good acting, mediocre. Life is for happiness, and the bombardment of a song signalling that I have my doubts about such a simplistic statement. It is the last December of 1999 and it purports to show us ' life ' during this period in Paris. Of course there are very glamourous images including a theatre for one of the characters ( Arielle Dombasle ) and the banks of the Seine are bright and garish, and not at all as I know them. Song after song goes by and then there is the constant stream of actors with their stories, their loves and of course one of them talks about the courage to love. Fine sentiments but the bombardment of glossy images overwhelmed me. But then my favourite director is Eric Rohmer and two of the actors here worked with him and excellently. Arielle Dombasle is one of them, and Eric Viellard equally so. Here they are misused and saddening. If you can bear the songs then it is bearable. To be fair it does jump forward in time but by then I had switched off mentally. I had ( for me ) better films, books and life itself to care about. I am not glamourous enough for Lelouch and his films.

    a must see movie

this film was show at the Hampton Film Festival and got a standing ovation. It was uplifting and beautiful to watch. Great story based on real people. The music is unforgettable. The movie was romantic and entertaining. It reminds me of the great classics of foreign cinema. The story has twists and turns and it draws you in and can't wait to find out what will develop. Paris never looked more beautiful than in this film. I hope the music will be release because it will make a great CD. Cluade Lelouch is a master of getting the most out of his actors. The lead woman is a real find with an engaging face that the camera loves.
