Disney May Be Making a Live-Action 'W.I.T.C.H.' Adaptation
Image
We may be tired of the reboot game, but we might allow this one. Disney is currently considering a live-action W.I.T.C.H. adaptation. The 2000s animated series was based on an Italian comic book series and W.I.T.C.H. stood for each of the main characters' names: Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin. The witches each have powers that correspond with the five elements: earth, water, air, fire, and something called quintessence, also known as aether, commonly associated with the spirit. The witches were considered Guardians of the Veil. The animated series was cancelled after only two seasons but is beloved by many who tuned in to shows like it along with Winx Club, Sailor Moon, Magical DoReMi, and more.

Netflix Has Tried This Concept Before-And Failed

In 2021, Fate: The Winx Saga premiered on Netflix as a live-action adaptation of the animated series Winx Club. In a similar vein as W.I.T.C.H. it...

What Order Greta Gerwig's Chronicles Of Narnia Movies Should Happen In (It Can't Copy Disney's $1.58 Billion Franchise)
Image
Starting with "The Magician's Nephew" would give Greta Gerwig's Narnia movies a fresh and faithful adaptation, honoring C.S. Lewis's intended order. Gerwig's focus on character development and thematic exploration could elevate the Chronicles of Narnia series to new heights in the fantasy genre. Netflix's reboot offers a more visionary and ambitious approach compared to Disney's adaptations, with Gerwig at the helm bringing a fresh perspective.

Greta Gerwig's Chronicles of Narnia should avoid copying the Disney adaptations by releasing them in a different order. In 2005, Disney released their version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, spawning a series that lasted three movies, and though they were beloved in their era, none received astounding critical acclaim or monumental cultural success. While other beloved fantasy series from the 2000s, like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, have had uproars at the thought of reboots, Barbie...

It Sounds Like Hocus Pocus 3 Won't Happen (But That's Okay)
Image
Hocus Pocus is a beloved Halloween Disney movie, and while a legacy sequel was released in 2022, Hocus Pocus 3 seems unlikely. The original 1993 movie follows the Sanderson sisters, Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy), three witches who terrorize Salem. The three actors had so much chemistry together that they turned the characters into lovable and over-the-top antagonists. The witches have iconic looks, the film is full of unholy comedy, and it's one of the most unique-looking movies in Disney's deep catalog. And while a sequel had been rumored to be in the works for years, it finally arrived 30 years later.

Hocus Pocus 2 was released in 2022, and it sets up Hocus Pocus 3 in a lot of ways. None of the non-supernatural Hocus Pocus characters returned for the sequel, proving that the sisters are the main attraction. However, outside of two or three key scenes, such as...

Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch says she ‘wishes people would just listen to Jk Rowling’
Image
A Harry Potter star has jumped to the defence of Jk Rowling.

For years now, the author has courted contoversy with her views on transgender rights.

It appeared to start in June 2020 when she called out an article’s use of the phrase “people who menstruate”.

This tweet divided Twitter users. While there was a contingent who supported Rowling, there were many – including numerous celebrities – who criticised her comment as “anti-trans” and “transphobic”, arguing that transgender, non-binary and non-gender conforming people can also menstruate.

In an essay, the author addressed the backlash while also detailing her experiences of surviving alleged domestic abuse and sexual assault.

The essay sparked further criticism and many actors from the Harry Potter franchise, including Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, have since voiced their support for trans people.

Now, Luna Lovegood star Evanna Lynch has shared her views on the mater. At the time,...

Roseanne Barr is mounting a comeback attempt, five years after she was unceremoniously fired over a tweet joking that former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett — who is Black — was the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and “The Planet of the Apes” after the return of her eponymous sitcom “Roseanne” broke ratings records.

Doctor Strange 2 Concept Art Shows Wong's Super Gory Scrapped Death
Image
New Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness concept art shows Wong's death that was not kept in the movie, and its super gory. The multiverse installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 directed by Sam Raimi featured a surprisingly high body count. The use of different universes and variants of Marvel heroes meant viewers watched as versions of Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and the Illuminati died during Doctor Strange 2. Raimi delivered gruesome deaths on a PG-13 rating through it all, including having Black Bolt's head explode and Captain Carter cut in half.

It appears that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness nearly included a super gory death for Wong, as Doctor Strange 2 concept art from Rob Bliss (shared by Scarlet Witch News on Twitter) depicts his scrapped demise.

Buffy Gives Willow A Power-Up Scarlet Witch Would Envy
Image
This article contains spoilers for The Vampire Slayer #10Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics have given Willow a magical power-up that even Scarlet Witch would envy. Multiverses are all the rage in popular culture, and Buffy's multiverse has the appropriate title of the "Slayerverse." The Slayerverse has allowed Boom! Studios to launch some of the most imaginative comics in the franchise's history; alternate timelines where history played out differently, allowing writers a chance to creatively reinterpret the story of Buffy and the Scoobies.

The Vampire Slayer, by Sarah Gailey and Hannah Templer, is telling a story in which Willow became the Slayer. She'd worked with Giles to try to give Buffy a break from the relentless pressure of being the Vampire Slayer, but the spell went horribly wrong. The demonic power at the heart of the Slayer's line is interacting with Willow's own magic, and in The Vampire Slayer #5 her powers...

Don't Miss Witcher 3's Hidden Triss Quests
Image
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is filled with various hidden side quests that players could miss during their playthrough if they only stick to the main story. There are even two short side missions related to Triss’ questline that most fans might never encounter. Both optional quests require Geralt to ignore Vesemir's advice and get involved by stopping the Witch Hunters from killing innocent mages.

In The Witcher 3, Geralt encounters Triss while following clues regarding Ciri’s location from the Bloody Baron. Geralt can aid the sorceress in her attempt to help mages escape from Novigrad, which has become increasingly hostile to magic due to the Witch Hunters. Besides being an important side character in the series, Triss is also one of several women that Geralt can romance in The Witcher 3. Although hanging out with Triss could be fun, players could explore the area and find two optional side missions in Novigrad,...

Unhinged: second remake of 1982 slasher has finished filming
Russell Crowe in Enragé (2020)
Last month, we heard that the slasher Unhinged (not to be confused with the Russell Crowe thriller) was going to be getting a second remake. The film, first released in 1982, received a remake back in 2017 that was produced by Scott Jeffrey, Rebecca J. Matthews, and Louisa Warren, with Jeffrey also writing the screenplay. Jeffrey, Matthews, and Warren are also behind the new remake – and it has now been revealed that the third version of Unhinged finished filming earlier this month!

Matthew B.C. (H.P. Lovecraft’s Monster Portal) directed the new Unhinged from a screenplay by Harry Boxley (Mary Had a Little Lamb). The film follows four young women who, after a traumatic confrontation with a stalker, are forced to take refuge with an eccentric older man and his bed-bound wife; a couple who quickly showcase troubling behaviors.

The Lovecraft Movie Del Toro Nearly Made Before Cabinet Of Curiosities
Image
The Guillermo del Toro H. P. Lovecraft movie At The Mountains of Madness was ready to begin filming but ultimately never got off the ground — here's why it was canceled. With Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, which included two adaptations from influential horror author H.P. Lovecraft, creating such a buzz, now is a better time than ever to look back at other Lovecraft projects the director has attempted, including an At The Mountains of Madness movie. Guillermo del Toro’s movies are known for exploring a different side of monsters and fantastic creatures, both from his own imagination and from different sources, but the Mexican filmmaker is also known for working on too many projects at once and dropping out of most. Here's why the At The Mountains of Madness del Toro Lovecraft adaptation didn't happen.

The director has been attached to a number of different projects, from The Hobbit to Fantastic Voyage,...

There's a certain kind of comedy to lines that aren't immediately funny in reality television. Sometimes, it can take time for a quote to age and become iconic in its own right for whatever reason, and delivery also makes a difference. Even the most unexpected and random quotes in Rhobh, which seem forgetful and throwaway at the time, turn out to have the most lasting impact.

Bayonetta 3: How to Unlock Jeanne
Image
Jeanne is a character in the critically-acclaimed title Bayonetta 3 that can be unlocked and played after completing the game's main story. Bayonetta 3 is a hack-and-slash fighting game currently exclusive to the Nintendo Switch that was released only a few days prior to Halloween. Like Bayonetta series titles from the past, Bayonetta 3 features multiple playable characters like Jeanne, who has her own side chapters that form part of Bayonetta 3's story, as well as unique abilities and weapons.

Jeanne has appeared in other Bayonetta titles before, which makes her one of Bayonetts 3's confirmed returning characters. According to the game's lore, Jeanne and original protagonist Bayonetta became the last two remaining Umbra Witches, following the extermination of the rest of them in the Witch Hunts. Although Jeanne has her own playable story, Bayonetta 3 has to first be completed as Bayonetta before players can unlock additional characters.

Bayonetta 3: Where To Find All Broken Witch Hearts
Image
In Bayonetta 3, there are 32 Broken Witch Hearts for the player to collect, scattered across the game's 14 chapters. As players fight their way through the Bayonetta 3's action-packed combat, increasing their maximum health is going to be a key way to keep up with the game's enemies.

The way to do this is either by purchasing Witch Hearts at a rapidly escalating price from Rodin, and so requires a lot of halo ring farming in Bayonetta 3, or by collecting the Broken Witch Hearts hidden throughout the game. These pieces automatically convert into complete containers at a four-to-one ratio and are much more economical on the player's in-game wallet.

Where To Find Broken Witch Heart

For the first few hours of gameplay, there are four Broken Witch Hearts per chapter, so players who habitually clear every level in a game should be obtaining one Witch Heart per chapter.

Overwatch 2 Coins Are Easier To Earn By Playing World Of Warcraft
Image
Some crafty Overwatch 2 players have found a loophole that allows them to transfer World of Warcraft's digital gold into the currently costly OW2 coins. Overwatch 2's multiplayer hit a few road bumps in the month since its release. With loot boxes no longer in the picture with the new free-to-play model, players must slowly earn or buy Overwatch coins to unlock character skins and other cosmetics. Certain players have found a way to use their World of Warcraft skills to earn Overwatch 2 coins without grinding through OW2 challenges.

Blizzard allows World of Warcraft players to use their in-game gold to buy tokens which can be converted into Battle.net currency. That currency can then be used to purchase Blizzard games or other in-game currencies like Overwatch coins. This means WoW players who know about gold farming or have hoarded loads of the shiny currency over the years can use...

‘The Midnight Club’ – All the Christopher Pike Stories the Netflix Series Adapts
Image
Mike Flanagan’s latest Netflix series, The Midnight Club is an adaptation of not just one Christopher Pike novel, but many of the prolific 80s and 90s YA author’s works. In the past, there has been only one adaptation: a 1996 made-for-tv movie of Fall Into Darkness starring Tatyana Ali and Jonathan Brandis (available for free on YouTube).

The series, by comparison, will see filmed adaptations of not just the titular book, but also The Wicked Heart, Gimme a Kiss, See You Later, Witch, Road to Nowhere, and The Eternal Enemy

So what do you need to know about the books before you dive into the series? Let’s break it down!

The Midnight Club (1994)

First and foremost, the series is an adaptation of Christopher Pike’s story about a group of teens in a hospice. In the book there are five main characters (compared to the series’ eight) and they’re all white…...

The Midnight Club TV Review
Image
Plot: At a hospice with a mysterious history, the eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories – and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond.

Review: It probably goes without saying that at this point, people are going to watch The Midnight Club simply because Mike Flanagan’s name is attached to it. After the acclaim for The Haunting of Hill House, Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor was met with a slightly less enthusiastic welcome. But, Flanagan’s Midnight Mass was a masterpiece of storytelling. If the pattern holds, The Midnight Club would be a weaker entry into the horror maestro’s oeuvre of shows. Luckily, I am glad to say that the series has broken expectations. The Midnight Club is nothing like any of Flanagan’s previous films or series but impresses nonetheless by combining an original...

‘Hocus Pocus 2’: All The Easter Eggs That Reference The Original Film
Image
The Sanderson sisters are back and bewitching as ever in “Hocus Pocus 2”, the long-awaited sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic.

Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker reprise their roles as Winnifred, Mary and Sarah Sanderson, respectively, in the new film, which finds the trio resurrected once again by a group of teen friends — Becca (Whitney Peak), Cassie (Lilia Buckingham), and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) — who light a new version of the infamous Black Flame Candle.

However, when they return to wreak havoc on Salem — this time seeking revenge on the town’s mayor, a descendant of the puritanical reverend who originally exiled them (both played by Tony Hale) — they find that a few things have changed.

For one, the Sanderson Witch Museum has been reopened as a magic shop, run by a man named Gilbert (Sam Richardson), who claims to have witnessed the witches’ first night of mayhem back in the ’90s.

Everything to know about ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
Image
Almost 30 years after the original “Hocus Pocus” hit theaters (and became a cult classic), a sequel has finally been produced. “Hocus Pocus 2” is scheduled to stream on Disney Plus on September 30, 2022, with many of the original cast members reprising their spooky roles. Among the returnees are the three sister witches — Bette Midler as Winifred “Winnie” Sanderson, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson — plus Doug Jones as zombie William “Billy” Butcherson.

A film sequel has been in discussion since as far back as 2014, but it wasn’t officially greenlit until October 2019. Jen D’Angelo wrote the screenplay and Anne Fletcher serves as the director, replacing original director Adam Shankman, who was too busy filming “Disenchanted.” In November 2021, Disney released the first image of the Sanderson sisters in costume, with the tagline, “They’re already running amok, amok, amok.” Scroll through our photos above (or click...

Rob Zombie Had To Look Across The Pond For His Lords Of Salem Inspiration
Image
Rob Zombie's 2012 film "The Lords of Salem" may be the filmmaker's best. In it, Sheri Moon plays Heidi, a woman living in Salem, Ma, and recovering from drug addiction. She works as a soft-spoken DJ at the local radio station with Ken Foree and Jeff Daniel Phillips. When they play a mysterious rock record on their show — a record that only plays three scary, deep notes over and over — it awakens something inside Heidi. She begins having surreal visions of Satan. The visions are also, perhaps, being encouraged by a trio of women who regularly drink wine and converse loudly in her apartment building.

Eventually, it will be revealed that the record was a tool by the town's local Satanists (!) used to hypnotize the town's women into remembering their former lives as the woman tortured and killed in Salem generations ago. Satan, then, becomes a tool for feminist vengeance.

Netflix’s “The Midnight Club” – Which Other Christopher Pike Stories Are Being Adapted? [Images]
Image
Up next from Netflix and Mike Flanagan (“The Haunting of Hill House,” “Midnight Mass”) is “The Midnight Club,” a series adaptation of Christopher Pike‘s 1994 novel that will also adapt other Pike stories. “The Midnight Club” is set to premiere on October 7, and a preview piece that just ran on Vanity Fair this morning is loaded with new insights – and new images.

For starters, you may be wondering which Other Christopher Pike stories are going to find their way into Netflix’s “The Midnight Club,” and Vanity Fair has spilled the beans.

The website reports, “Among the other Pike novels that will featured are Witch (1990), about a girl with mystical abilities who tries to prevent her catastrophic visions from coming true; Gimme A Kiss (1988), in which a bullied student fakes her own death as part of a twisted revenge scheme; The Wicked Heart (1993), which follows the trail of a high-school...

“American Horror Stories” Review – “Milkmaids” Goes Sour With Its Plague-Filled Parable
Image
A war between faith and science determines the fate of an infected village in a gross episode that doesn’t have as much to say as it thinks.

“Love doesn’t heal, Celeste, only science can do that.”

Both American Horror Stories and American Horror Story proper have tackled endless subject matter that has explored the entire world across multiple time periods. However, 1750s New England during the height of the smallpox outbreak is new territory for the anthology series. There’s a tremendous amount of merit in telling an 18th century plague story, both in terms of the era’s blunt visuals, but also with how it can hold a mirror up to society’s own fragility during the past few years. “Milkmaids” begins as the episode from this season of American Horror Stories with the most potential, but ultimately it’s an entry full of disappointing decisions that...

Good Witch: Hallmark Boss Teases Potential Revival
Soupçon de magie (2015)
Ever since Hallmark decided to end Good Witch after seven seasons and countless movies, there have been questions about whether the franchise could resurface.

The franchise was headlined by Catherine Bell but came to an abrupt conclusion last summer.

Thankfully, Hallmark is not ruling out any future projects set in the Good Witch-verse, as well as Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

During Hallmark's appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour this Wednesday, Daly said, “As far as Good Witch, I think we’re always interested in thinking about what we can do with our most popular IP.”

However, the exec teases, “I can’t announce anything specific about that.”

It's certainly a vote of confidence in calling it their "most popular IP," but we should probably not get too excited about any new shows in that universe until they get a formal pickup.

As for Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Daly said that,...

Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3 Episode 7 Review: She Returns
Arlen Aguayo Stewart, BJ Harrison, Linda Ko, Catherine Lough Haggquist, Diana Pavlovská, Lyne Renée, Demetria McKinney, Sarah Yarkin, Tony Giroux, Amalia Holm, Taylor Hickson, Jessica Sutton, Mellany Barros, Kylee Brown, Ess Hödlmoser, and Ashley Nicole Williams in Motherland: Fort Salem (2020)
The "she" referenced in the title was Raelle, who frankly showed up a little late for the party.

Even though Willa declared that her daughter has healed, Raelle still appeared a little shaky on Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3 Episode 7.

Still, atomizing a Camarilla shock trooper about to filet Tally was a great way to make an entrance.

Raelle should rest up all she can now because it sounds like it's going to come down to her Witch Bomb in the end. Willa said so.

And not realizing that Raelle was about to make her appearance, Scylla allowed herself to be captured so that the others could escape. Those two can't catch a break, can they?

This first day of the U.S. invasion proved that The Cession forces, which included the Bellweather Unit by default, had to play way too much defense. Accept for Abigail, of course, but more on that later.

TV Loonland exec joins E1 Entertainment
Toronto -- Canadian producer E1 Entertainment has hired Olivier Dumont away from TV Loonland to head up its E1 Kids division.

London-based Dumont, most recently managing director of Paris-based TV Loonland, will build out E1 Kids' international sales, merchandising and licensing campaigns as managing director.

Dumont will work alongside Frank Saperstein, the Los Angeles-based senior vp animation and children's programming at E1 Kids, which is best known for its "Peppa Pig" and "Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom" series.

Before joining TV Loonland in 2005, Dumont was managing director of production house Sip Animation, formerly Saban International Paris, for five years, where his executive producer credits included the "W.I.T.C.H." action adventure comedy series.

Dumont will also continue to oversee development and production at Frog Box, a London-based producer he founded that now has an exclusive distribution agreement with E1 Entertainment.

Young Justice, DC Comics latest animated series, follows the adventures of a younger generation of superheroes as they try and prove themselves worthy of joining the Justice League. What if you’re a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? That’s exactly what the members of Young Justice—Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis—will found out, whether...
