Hollywood Film Festival to Honor Carey Mulligan and Jeremy Renner
The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, are pleased to announce honorees who will be recognized for their achievements at the festival's Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony.

Actress Carey Mulligan will receive the "Hollywood Breakthrough Actress Award," actor Jeremy Renner will be honored with the "Hollywood Breakthrough Actor Award," director Lee Daniels will receive the "Hollywood Breakthrough Director Award," Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe will receive the "New Hollywood Award" and screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will be recognized with the "Hollywood Breakthrough Screenwriter Award."

The gala ceremony will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on October 26, 2009. The announcement was made today by Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival. Film Department taps Bickel
Steven Bickel on Tuesday was named president of international at the Film Department.

Bickel, who starts Monday, replaces Elizabeth Kim and reports to company founders Mark Gill and Neil Sacker.

Bickel comes from Aura Entertainment, where he was president since 2001. In that role, he also served as executive producer of The Big Empty and Blind Dating and as producer of Love Comes to the Executioner.

A financing, production and international sales company, the Film Department plans to finance and produce six films per year budgeted at $10 million-$45 million.

Renner booked for 2 indie roles
Jeremy Renner
Jeremy Renner, who is shooting Lords of Dogtown, has lined up two indie features. Renner takes the lead in 12 and Holding, the next film from director Michael Cuesta (L.I.E.). He will play a former firefighter who moves to a new town for construction work following the loss of a young girl whose death haunts him. Renner then travels to Iceland for A Little Trip to Heaven, directed by Baltasar Kormakur (101 Reykjavik). He will star opposite Julia Stiles and Forest Whitaker as a con man who busts out of prison to search for his former partner in crime and lover (Stiles), who also happens to be his sister. Renner was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for playing the title role in Dahmer. He also co-starred in S.W.A.T. He next appears in Love Comes to the Executioner. Renner is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Patti Felker.

Goodwin walks Cash 'Line' for Fox 2000
Ginnifer Goodwin has been cast opposite Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix in Fox 2000's Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line for director James Mangold. Mangold's wife, Cathy Konrad, is producing along with James Keach. Phoenix plays the country music legend, and Witherspoon portrays his wife and bandmate. Goodwin plays the part of Cash's first wife, Vivianne, who tries to deal with his infidelity and distance but eventually divorces him. At Fox 2000, Line is being shepherded by Carla Hacken for Elizabeth Gabler. The screenplay is by Mangold and writing partner Gil Dennis. Goodwin's credits include Revolution Studios' Mona Lisa Smile and DreamWorks' Win a Date With Tad Hamilton! She is shooting the indie feature Love Comes to the Executioner. Goodwin is repped by WMA and Michael Gendler.

Renner skates to Col 'Dogtown'

Jeremy Renner, who starred in last summer's S.W.A.T. for helmer Clark Johnson and Columbia Pictures, is set to reteam with the studio on Catherine Hardwicke's Lords of Dogtown. The project, a fictionalized version of Stacy Peralta's documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, is based on a Spin magazine article that explored 1970s skateboarding culture. Peralta wrote the screenplay, with revisions by Hardwicke. The story follows a group of young California surfers who take their style to the streets as skateboarders, thereby launching a new sport that defined a generation. Renner will play a respected surf veteran and close friend of Heath Ledger's character. Ledger, Emile Hirsch, John Robinson, Victor Rasuk and Nikki Reed also star. John Linson is producing, with David Fincher, Art Linson and Joe Drake serving as executive producers. At the studio, the project is being overseen by co-presdient of production Columbia's Matt Tolmach and executive vp production Andrea Gianetti. Renner is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment's Beth Holden-Garland and attorney Patti Felker. The Dahmer star next appears in Love Comes to the Executioner and Asia Argento's The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.
