ABC has given a pilot order to a comedy written by Jimmy Kimmel, Shawn Vance and Daril Fannin.

Called “Adopted,” the trio also executive produce the single-camera project.

Here is the official logline from ABC: “When a Green Beret returns home to Texas from military service, he and his family struggle with the challenges of adopting his new brother, a 12-year-old Russian boy. Inspired by a true story.”

“Adopted” is produced by ABC Studios in association with Kimmel’s Kimmelot production banner.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host has also written for Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers,” “The Andy Milonakis Show,” “The Man Show,” “Windy City Heat,” both the Oscars and the Emmys on more than one occasion, and once for the Grammys in 2002.

Kimmel has been hosting his late-night talk show since 2003. He has also done some acting since then, including voicing the dad in “Boss Baby,” Batman in “Teen Titans Go! to the Movies,...

Perry Caravello believes he has been given a chance to star in a movie called Windy City Heat, a crime film about a "sports private eye" named Stone Fury. However, there is no such film, as the entire project is an elaborate prank played on him by Don Barris and Mole with the help of producers Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla and real celebrity cameos including Carson Daly, Dane Cook, Tammy Faye Bakker, and William "The Refrigerator" Perry.

Chicago – How does one attempt to review a picture that has a 5-star opening act, a 2-star finale and several flashes of brilliance amidst a middling midsection? Are the good parts worth savoring despite the overarching flaws? In the case of Bobcat Goldthwait’s scathing yet softhearted satire on American idiocy, the answer is a resounding yes..

“God Bless America” is not as uproarious as Goldthwait’s 2006 effort, “Sleeping Dogs Lie,” nor as poignant as his 2009 Robin Williams vehicle, “World’s Greatest Dad,” but as a disgruntled liberal’s wet dream, the film is impossible to resist—at least during its first half-hour. What nearly holds the film together is the endearingly droll work from leading man Joel Murray (brother of Bill), who could easily attain cult status for this role.

Comedian Bobcat Goldthwait stepped out of his Police Academy shadow with his first directed film Shakes the Clown in 1991, in which he also starred as the title character. Since then, Goldthwait has put more of his focus on becoming a filmmaker, releasing absurd cult favorites like World’s Greatest Dad (starring Robin Williams), Windy City Heat, and now his raging dark comedy, God Bless America.

In his latest film, Joel Murray plays a divorced father named Frank who decides he has had enough of bratty reality TV stars, jackass political commentators, people who talk during movies, etc. With the help of a young girl named Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), Frank decides to kill some people in hopes of making our world a nicer place.

I sat down with Goldthwait to discuss God Bless America, what he thinks of MTV, and the little anti-Semites extras he worked with on set.

Chicago – Embarrassments both mortifying and tragic are viewed through a cathartically hilarious and disarmingly humanistic lens in the cinema of Bobcat Goldthwait. Over the last decade, the “Police Academy” star has emerged as one of the most gifted cinematic satirists in America. His comedic targets are often audaciously provocative and there’s always a wealth of sincerity within the snark.

His jaw-dropping 2003 farce “Windy City Heat” allegedly duped a talentless actor Perry Caravello into unknowingly joining a phony production that promised instant stardom. 2006’s “Sleeping Dogs Lie” charted the downward spiral of a young woman’s personal life after she came clean about her dappling in bestiality, while 2008’s “World’s Greatest Dad” featured a career-best performance from Robin Williams as a father who took advantage of a sudden tragedy to make a last-ditch attempt at happiness.

Goldthwait’s latest film is “God Bless America,” a brutally scathing indictment of America’s increasingly vapid culture.

Comedian Goldthwait, who rose to stardom in the 80′s with mad characters like Zed in the Police Academy franchise and One Crazy Summer‘s Egg Stork, has proven himself to be a creative talent behind the lens as well, helming the darkly comic stunning success. Re this dark road trip that Goldthwait might soon be taking, the comedian stated:

There’s a middle aged guy and he’s at home watching a show like My Super Sweet 16, you know that show?…there’s always a horrible kid who gets everything she wants…”I wanted an Escalade! You ruined everything!” So he’s sitting at home watching a show like that, and he drives 400 miles and kills that girl – spoiler alert!

Comedian Bobcat Goldthwait has announced his next project, his fourth dark comedy which will be entitled "God Bless America" and produced through Darko Pictures.

Goldthwait revealed the news on The Adam Carolla Show (via /Film), the story involves a middle aged guy fed up with the spoiled teenagers he sees on television.

He then drives to a college and kills one of the said reality stars and teams-up with her classmate for a road trip in a stolen Camaro as they set out to kill people.

Goldthwait also helmed "Shakes the Clown," "Windy City Heat" and "World's Greatest Dad".

Adam Carolla is getting back in business with Comedy Central. The former co-host of the cable network's hit series The Man Show has landed a talent deal for a weeknight talk show being eyed as a potential companion for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. Carolla would develop the program with former Jimmy Kimmel Live executive producer Daniel Kellison, who has collaborated with Carolla and Kimmel on several Comedy Central programs, including Man, Crank Yankers and Windy City Heat, out of their production company, Jackhole Industries. Carolla is the second comedian who was in the running for the hosting gig at CBS' Late Late Show to get consideration for his own talk show at Comedy Central; D.L. Hughley is developing a similar project, with former David Letterman producer Robert Morton attached (HR 12/17).

Windy City Heat, a feature film directed by and starring Boston stand-up comic Bobcat Goldthwait, won this year's Comedia Award at the just-finished Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, organizers said Monday. Comedia is JFL's film program. The movie, based on the Comedy Central series, chronicles the adventures of a man who thinks he is living the dream of starring in a Hollywood blockbuster, while the entire production is fake.
