Best Actress Oscar nominee Fernanda Torres has apologized for appearing in blackface as part of a comedy sketch on Brazilian television in 2008.

“Almost 20 years ago, I appeared in blackface in a comedy sketch from a Brazilian TV show,” Torres said in a statement. “I am very sorry for this. I’m making this statement as it is important for me to address this swiftly to avoid further pain and confusion.”

She continued, “At that time, despite the efforts of Black movements and organizations, the awareness of the racist history and symbolism of blackface hadn’t yet entered the mainstream public consciousness in Brazil. Thanks to better cultural understanding and important but incomplete achievements in this century, it’s very clear now in our country and everywhere that blackface is never acceptable.”

Torres concluded her statement by saying she hoped the conversation about blackface and racial blindspots sparked further evolution within society.

However, combining his immense power with Wolverine's brutality and razor-sharp claws is a recipe for death and dismemberment.

These variants, from some of the top artists in the comic book industry, are gifts to collectors and casual fans alike, and are guaranteed to make Marvel fans merry.

Aipt revealed a first-look at Marvel's slate of "Winter Holiday Variant Covers" shipping with some of its top titles at the end of 2024, which will be released throughout December including several on Christmas Day itself.

In the first few scenes of Harmony Korine’s latest joint, Baby Invasion, we see on-screen text that reads “This Is Not A Movie,” then “This Is A Video Game.” According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a video game is defined as “an electronic game in which players control images on a video screen.”

Under this definition, Baby Invasion is assuredly not a video game. Under Korine’s own definition, it is not a movie. That being said, however you wish to classify it, it is not a particularly enjoyable experience.

Baby Invasion takes the form of a first-person shooter following a group of mercenaries who use baby faces as avatars, entering the mansions of the rich and the powerful to rob and murder them. In other words, Harmony Korine records a bunch of people maneuvering multi-million-dollar South Florida homes and presents it as a movie… game… audiovisual work.

New Zealand filmmaker James Ashcroft’s debut, Coming Home in the Dark, was a bleak and unsettling thriller. Well, with his sophomore feature, The Rule of Jenny Pen, “bleak” is a generous description. This psychological thriller is downright punishing — an arduous hour and 43 minutes devoid of substance or anything that would make sitting through the film’s literal torture a worthwhile experience.

The Rule of Jenny Pen follows a once-respected judge recovering from a stroke in a rehabilitation home, as he finds himself being terrorized by a psychopath who uses a child’s puppet to abuse the other residents. While this is certainly an intriguing hook, it doesn’t amount to much of a story beyond seeing this pain being inflicted.

Ultimately, the biggest issue with The Rule of Jenny Pen is that it’s incredibly mean-spirited and pointless. Its message essentially boils down to “getting old sucks.

Horror has always had an issue with old people. The genre tends to view the geriatric body as an object of fear rather than tackling the realities of the aging process itself in all its complexity. For every Relic (2020), a film that treats the ravages of time and decay with respect, there’s The Front Room (2024), a horror yarn predicated on the seemingly acceptable prejudice that old people are just plain scary and gross. But James Ashcroft’s Fantastic Fest opener, The Rule of Jenny Pen, is the all-too-rare horror thriller that treats aging with all the dignity it deserves without ignoring the abject, all too relatable terror of losing yourself to the relentless march of time.

Showrunner Jon Favreau’s “toy box” approach pitched protagonist Din Djarin as a Boba Fett-like figure, and although the two are quite different in terms of personality and history, the iconic silhouette of the space western gunslinger is very similar.

But now Boba Fett himself is back in The Mandalorian season 2, played by none other than Temuera Morrison in a very brief cameo. At the very end of the season 2 premiere “The Marshal,” we find Boba watching from a hill as Mando rides off with his old armor, a scowl on the old bounty hunter’s face that would silence a krayt dragon. Only weeks after giving birth to baby Benjamin, Gisele Bündchen is already back to work - and looking hot as ever. On Jan. 25, the supermodel was shooting a campaign for Brazilian fashion label Colicci in Boston, where she was visited by a reporter from Brazilian magazine Fantástico, who reported the new mom looked radiant, beautiful and as "in shape as always, six weeks after the birth of her baby." She's also not shy about discussing baby Benjamin, her son with husband Tom Brady, who was born Dec. 8. In the interview, Bündchen dispels reports that she went into labor and was taken to a Boston-area hospital.

Super-private supermodel Gisele Bündchen gave birth to her first child in December, and she dished to a reporter that she had an at-home water birth!

In an interview with Brazilian magazine Fantástico, Bündchen said, "I gave birth in the bathtub," at the penthouse she shares with footballer husband Tom Brady in Boston's upscale Beacon Hill neighborhood.
