Best Actress Oscar nominee Fernanda Torres has apologized for appearing in blackface as part of a comedy sketch on Brazilian television in 2008.
“Almost 20 years ago, I appeared in blackface in a comedy sketch from a Brazilian TV show,” Torres said in a statement. “I am very sorry for this. I’m making this statement as it is important for me to address this swiftly to avoid further pain and confusion.”
She continued, “At that time, despite the efforts of Black movements and organizations, the awareness of the racist history and symbolism of blackface hadn’t yet entered the mainstream public consciousness in Brazil. Thanks to better cultural understanding and important but incomplete achievements in this century, it’s very clear now in our country and everywhere that blackface is never acceptable.”
Torres concluded her statement by saying she hoped the conversation about blackface and racial blindspots sparked further evolution within society.

The iconic adamantium claws of Wolverine are getting a major transformation, as Logan steals the powers of Fantastic Four hero Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. The Ff's rocky hero is one of Marvel's strongest and toughest heroes, and has gone toe-to-toe with Wolverine on several noteworthy occasions. However, combining his immense power with Wolverine's brutality and razor-sharp claws is a recipe for death and dismemberment.
Wolverine gains the Thing's powers in art by Giuseppe Camuncoli. The image shows Wolverine shortly after his escape from the villainous Weapon X organization, wandering the Canadian wilderness. However, this time Logan is covered in rocky spikes, adding countless blades to his iconic claws.
The art is part of Marvel's 'The Thing! Variant Covers' initiative, running across November, and will appear on select copies of Wolverine #3, coming November 20 from Saladin Ahmed and Martn Cccolo.

The first set photos of Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch have made their way online, and the new look at the star of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has helped change my mind about his superhero suit. I am very excited to finally see Marvel's First Family join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Thing is the undisputed powerhouse for the Fantastic Four, with his cosmic-ray abilities placing him in a strength bracket similar to Colossus and The Hulk. Ben Grimm is one-of-a-kind, but a series of stellar variant covers reimagines other Marvel heroes in his place - with the Thing's strength and durability alongside their powers. The combination of the Thing and Black Panther's Vibranium suit elevates both powersets to unbelievable levels.

Elijah Wood is best known for his role as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, playing an adventurer answering the call, and his latest film, Bookworm, sees him return to the genre (and country) that made his career. An adorable family adventure, Bookworm benefits from the charm of its leads to deliver a compelling watch despite its meandering story.
Bookworm Review
Bookworm follows an eleven-year-old girl forced to go on a camping trip in the New Zealand wilderness with her estranged father, a washed-up magician, hoping to catch a glimpse of a mythical creature to earn the reward for sighting footage. Although it is hardly the most exciting adventure you’ll find — the characters aren’t saving the world or looking for some magical talisman — it works because of how invested viewers will get in the characters and their relationship.

In the first few scenes of Harmony Korine’s latest joint, Baby Invasion, we see on-screen text that reads “This Is Not A Movie,” then “This Is A Video Game.” According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a video game is defined as “an electronic game in which players control images on a video screen.”
Baby Invasion Review
Under this definition, Baby Invasion is assuredly not a video game. Under Korine’s own definition, it is not a movie. That being said, however you wish to classify it, it is not a particularly enjoyable experience.
Baby Invasion takes the form of a first-person shooter following a group of mercenaries who use baby faces as avatars, entering the mansions of the rich and the powerful to rob and murder them. In other words, Harmony Korine records a bunch of people maneuvering multi-million-dollar South Florida homes and presents it as a movie… game… audiovisual work.

New Zealand filmmaker James Ashcroft’s debut, Coming Home in the Dark, was a bleak and unsettling thriller. Well, with his sophomore feature, The Rule of Jenny Pen, “bleak” is a generous description. This psychological thriller is downright punishing — an arduous hour and 43 minutes devoid of substance or anything that would make sitting through the film’s literal torture a worthwhile experience.
The Rule of Jenny Pen Review
The Rule of Jenny Pen follows a once-respected judge recovering from a stroke in a rehabilitation home, as he finds himself being terrorized by a psychopath who uses a child’s puppet to abuse the other residents. While this is certainly an intriguing hook, it doesn’t amount to much of a story beyond seeing this pain being inflicted.
Ultimately, the biggest issue with The Rule of Jenny Pen is that it’s incredibly mean-spirited and pointless. Its message essentially boils down to “getting old sucks.

Horror has always had an issue with old people. The genre tends to view the geriatric body as an object of fear rather than tackling the realities of the aging process itself in all its complexity. For every Relic (2020), a film that treats the ravages of time and decay with respect, there’s The Front Room (2024), a horror yarn predicated on the seemingly acceptable prejudice that old people are just plain scary and gross. But James Ashcroft’s Fantastic Fest opener, The Rule of Jenny Pen, is the all-too-rare horror thriller that treats aging with all the dignity it deserves without ignoring the abject, all too relatable terror of losing yourself to the relentless march of time.
The film opens with Judge Stefan Mortensen (Geoffrey Rush) suffering a public stroke as he’s handing down a sentence. Humiliated, but in need of rehabilitation, he checks into Royale Pine Mews, an...

Thunderbolts* has just revealed its first trailer for the first major look at the MCU answer to the Suicide Squad! Check it out!
The original concept of the Thunderbolts debuted in 1997. At the time, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four were believed dead fighting the monstrous Onslaught when they were really shunted into another dimension. The Thunderbolts were promoted as a brand new team of original heroes coming to fill the gap.
However, in one of the most shocking plot twists in comic book history, the first issue ended with the revelation that the T-Bolts were actually long-time supervillains, the Masters of Evil. They were posing as heroes to gain public and government trust in order to take over the world. However, several of them realized they liked being heroes more than being villains and set out to redeem themselves.

The House of M is a storyline that a slew of fans want to see play out in the MCU. Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron introduced Wanda Maximoff into the MCU, fans have been speculating how Marvel Studios intended to do the storyline without any mutants being around.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a whirlwind of excitement lately, with news and rumors swirling around the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. We were informed of its revised release date and casting news yesterday, Valentine’s Day. Fans are delighted with Pedro Pascal’s casting in the film, but disturbing reports have surfaced regarding Doctor Doom and Silver Surfer’s appearances.
The Og Silver Surfer’s MCU debut is reportedly not happening in the upcoming The Fantastic Four, despite earlier rumors to the contrary. Galactus will still appear in the film, and the character will at least have another herald. Recent reports suggest that Galactus and, more intriguingly, a female Silver Surfer could play antagonistic roles in the movie.
Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis, is also an important figure in their universe, but his appearance in the MCU is uncertain, according to recent reports.

Alicia Masters-Grimm is a crucial member of the Fantastic Four, without whom the team would have been defeated by Kang the Conqueror. The Fantastic Four recognizes Alicia's talents and treats her as an equal, involving her in battles and relying on her skills. The love and support among the Fantastic Five, including Alicia, make them a formidable force against even the greatest challenges, like Kang.
Warning: Spoilers for Fantastic Four (2022) #17 ahead!Their name may be "The Fantastic Four," but Alicia Masters-Grimm is just as much a member of both the team and the family as her husband, Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. Alicia has proven herself to be a crucial member of the Fantastic Four's plans and stratagems to the point where, if not for her involvement, the team would have been slain outright by a proto-Kang the Conqueror.

Golden Boy is not a character from the original The Boys comics, but an addition to the spin-off series Gen V, showing how the franchise is diverging from its source material. The introduction of Golden Boy in the live-action adaptation demonstrates the show's willingness to take creative liberties, similar to the changes made to other characters in The Boys. The inclusion of new characters in Gen V opens up new narrative possibilities for The Boys' live-action universe, allowing the show to explore different storylines and dynamics apart from the original comics.
Since Golden Boy is one of the most intriguing additions to Gen V's supe roster, here is a breakdown of whether he is in the original The Boys comics. In its three-season runtime, The Boys has already introduced some of the most bizarre and morally skewed supes. The spin-off series, Gen V, is now expanding the franchise's overarching lore...

While the original Silver Surfer of Marvel’s Earth-616 universe is immensely powerful on a cosmic scale, he is nothing compared to his DC crossover variant, as that version could take down Galactus with a single hit–and there’s one very specific reason as to how that’s even possible.
Norrin Radd became the Herald of Galactus known as the Silver Surfer after Galactus came to Norrin’s planet with the intention of consuming it. Norrin pleaded with Galactus, and even offered his life to save the countless lives of his people. Lucky for Radd, that was an acceptable exchange, as Galactus was in need of a new Herald at that point in time. So, Galactus imbued Norrin with the Power Cosmic, transforming him forever into the Silver Surfer. As the Silver Surfer, Norrin is one of the most powerful beings in the universe, and the confirmed most powerful Herald of Galactus.

The Fantastic Beasts movies tried to tell Albus Dumbledore's story, but with the franchise's failure, the upcoming Harry Potter TV remake can finish the job. The films had been initially toted as a prequel series following all new characters, but when Dumbledore showed up, it quickly became something of an origin story. This was intriguing since the Harry Potter movies left out a lot of the headmaster's backstory, which had been a significant part of the Deathly Hallows book. Of course, Fantastic Beasts missed the mark with audiences, but Dumbledore's history can still make it to the screen.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry learned about Dumbledore's dark relationship with Gellert Grindelwald. He was devastated to discover that his old idol had once taken the perspective that Muggles should be ruled over (dominated) by wizard-kind. Of course, the headmaster's story wasn't really that simple, and, in the books,...

This Star Wars: The Mandalorian article contains spoilers.
From the very beginning, Boba Fett has inspired The Mandalorian. Showrunner Jon Favreau’s “toy box” approach pitched protagonist Din Djarin as a Boba Fett-like figure, and although the two are quite different in terms of personality and history, the iconic silhouette of the space western gunslinger is very similar.
But now Boba Fett himself is back in The Mandalorian season 2, played by none other than Temuera Morrison in a very brief cameo. At the very end of the season 2 premiere “The Marshal,” we find Boba watching from a hill as Mando rides off with his old armor, a scowl on the old bounty hunter’s face that would silence a krayt dragon. With all the Mandalorian history and bounty hunting on the show, it was only a matter of time before we finally got to see Boba in the flesh!

Gisele Bündchen isn't wasting any time introducing her newborn to Brazilian culture. Baby Benjamin, her 3-month-old son with husband Tom Brady, 32, is currently on his first international trip, visiting mom's homeland for the next week. The supermodel, 29, landed in São Paulo Tuesday for a series of public appearances for her brand of flip-flops and Pantene - she’s the Brazilian spokesperson - and her twin sister Patricia's wedding in the coastal town of Porto Allegre over the weekend. Only weeks after giving birth to baby Benjamin, Gisele Bündchen is already back to work - and looking hot as ever. On Jan. 25, the supermodel was shooting a campaign for Brazilian fashion label Colicci in Boston, where she was visited by a reporter from Brazilian magazine Fantástico, who reported the new mom looked radiant, beautiful and as "in shape as always, six weeks after the birth of her baby." She's also not shy about discussing baby Benjamin, her son with husband Tom Brady, who was born Dec. 8. In the interview, Bündchen dispels reports that she went into labor and was taken to a Boston-area hospital.
