Thought this may be interesting by the cover on Netflix. You know the old school like rescue 911 or UM reenactments? Its that, for 30 mins & in
black &white. Use your judgment! Lol just kidding, its awful.
This story was obviously low budget. Much lower than tpb. The story is really good. All of them really do a great job. I liked it. Shows that they can do other situations not just comedy.
If you expecting a prequel to TPB, this isn't it. You can see that they're workshopping characters like Layhey and the New Yorker makes an appearance but it's a cute, quick comedy.
So much more than the precursor to TPB. Definitely more somber with a great ending.
A weird precursor to Trailer Park Boys, with Wells and Tremblay testing out their comedic style and playing characters different to those which received cult status, but with similar characteristics showing through.
Two best friends spend a night out drinking together before one moves away forever, hoping to share a secret before he departs. There is an odd introduction to an iteration of Mr Lahey, who in One Last Shot is a mean pet shop owner, and boss of 'GW'. Other than backstory, though, he is the exact same character.
Shot in grainy black and white footage with familiar angles, this short film holds many similarities with their later work. The humour is far more understated, a more subdued approach which doesn't turn the characters into caricatures. Overall though, this probably wouldn't draw an audience further than TPB fans.

[first lines]
Rob: Okay, you want to hear the story? I'll tell ya. As you know, I'm 34 years old, I'm definitely well-off, and I am happy. But there was a time when I wasn't this happy, a time when I smoked dope and drank constantly, I used horrible language, I was selfish and... I lived in my car. One thing I can say, falling in love changed all that.
