LUMPIA was originally created as a reunion movie for the neighborhood kids that had starred in Ginelsa's amateur superhero movies when they were younger. Little would they know that the movie would later gain a cult following through local college screenings and then screen at a real movie theatre as part of the Hawaii Internationl Film Festival.
The movie was shot over a span of 7 years from 1996 to 2003. That explains the changing hairstyles and growth spurts in-between scenes.
LUMPIA was shot guerrilla-style on different Video-8 camcorders in Daly City, CA.
