Some people used to claim this movie wasn't successful. But Actually it was hit at the box office and 19th highest grossing Bollywood movie of 1981.
Initially in the late 70's Poonam Dhillon refused a few films opposite Mithun. Perhaps those films did not interest her, but she got stuck with the allegation that she thought Mithun was B grade actor and did not want to work with him. Poonam was also not happy working with newcomer Anil Kapoor in Laila. She really wanted Sanjay Dutt in the film.
A rare film where Mahendra Sandhu played a character role.He had vowed not to take up character roles.
