FAQ

Leatherheads is based on an original screenplay by Sports Illustrated columnists Rick Reilly and Duncan Brantley with input by filmmakers Steven Soderbergh, Stephen Schiff, and director George Clooney. The character Jimmy "Dodge" Connelly (played by Clooney) is based on the life of Green Bay Packers Johnny "Blood" McNally, and the plot is loosely based on Chicago Bears coach George Halas's signing of University of Illinois pro halfback Harold "Red" Grange.

A crusty bob is the act of putting a nasty handful of mud in an opposing player's pants, preferably in the back.

The pig in the poke was hiding the ball under the jersey. A 'poke' refers to a sack or a bag. Hence the saying, "never buy a pig in a poke", which means don't buy something until you've checked it thoroughly.

The Man I Love sung by Ledisi Young but made famous by jazz singer Billie Holiday [1915-1959].

A custom-built 36-volt electric-powered 1918 Indian replica designed by movie vehicle builder Eddie Paul.
