The film had a theatrical release in Canada.
The movie was released in August 2003, nearly 19 years after Operation Bluestar and the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Amitoj Mann, who worked in the film as writer, director and lead actor, said that the objective of the film was not to make money but to expose the main culprits. He had met several victims and wanted to help them out. He was unaware that sales had picked up but he would not pitch in to remove the ban.
Due to being set against the backdrop of 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the film was banned by the then Congress government in Delhi and Punjab in 2003. But the CD sales picked up after the Delhi High Court refused to give interim relief to Sajjan Kumar, facing arrest in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases. One of the sellers at Bangla Saheb Gurdwara, on the condition of anonymity said that least 30-40 customers were coming to his shop daily for the CD.
(1985) There was a shelved movie Himalaya Films "Hawayain" Starring Farooq Shaikh, Sadhana Singh, Produced and Directed by Chetan Anand.
