10 Anime Recap Movies That Are Better Than Watching the Actual Series
Image
While recaps are just boring necessities in most mediums, anime studios have turned them into a mini-industry. There are some franchises that wouldn't even exist today without compilation films. Famously, Mobile Suit Gundam didn't really take off until its trilogy of compilation films began hitting theaters in 1981.

Unlike recaps in Western television, anime compilation films are big events. Since they tend to air in theaters, it means getting a bigger budget to try and present the best version of a series to new audiences. For fans who are willing to give them a try, they can be far better than just watching the original television series.

Best Anime That Deserve More Fans
Image
As sad as it is, just being good doesn't make an anime popular. Every experienced anime fan knows of at least one anime they absolutely love that never caught on with a wider audience. Sometimes it's about age, sometimes it's about visibility, and sometimes the series in question simply aired on the wrong streaming service.

Whatever the reason, there are some amazing anime series that have only a handful of fans compared to the juggernauts like Naruto, One Piece, or even slightly more niche series like Sword Art Online. Anime fans who are looking for new series should always check in on some of the less popular series, just so they can see what they're missing out on.

Pick(S) Of The Week

The Sitter (DVD/Blu-ray)

When the world’s most irresponsible babysitter takes three of the world’s worst kids on an unforgettable overnight adventure through the streets of New York City, it’s anyone’s guess who’s going to make it home in one piece. Starring Jonah Hill (Knocked Up, Get Him To The Greek) and Sam Rockwell (Moon & The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), The Sitter is a new level of twisted and debauched hilarity from the director of Pineapple Express, David Gordon Green.

The House by the Cemetery: Dual Format Edition (DVD+Blu-ray)

Shock gore master Lucio Fulci s The House by the Cemetery is one of the finest typically single-minded exercises in zombie terror. Its just a shame no-one told the Boyle family who move into a gothic style house (by a cemetery) with a bloody past and a guts spraying future, what is yet to come! You d think they d twig given the basement door is nailed shut that they should get the hell out. Instead they...

DVD Review: Kiddy Grade – The Complete Series
Kiddy Grade is an oddly named 24-episode science fiction anime series created by gimik and Gonzo Digimation in 2002. It was directed by a third of gimik – Keiji Gotoh, who’s list of animation credits is as long as your arm, but includes such gems as Read or Die and Afro Samurai: Resurrection. The series found an American audience via FUNimation Entertainment, and was later re-released in 2007 on the big screen in Japan as three movies (Ignition, Maelstrom and Truth Dawn).

Kiddy Grade is set in a future where the human race inhabits many other planets in a universe where the Galactic Organization of Trade and Tariffs (Gott) are the Galactic Union police force. The protagonists of this anime are Éclair and Lumière, an Es team from the secret branch of the Gott known as the “Shadow Unit”, a group of superpowered elite enforcers.

Éclair and Lumière are C-class agents (powers are rated C – lowest,...
