There’s a new Looney Tunes movie in theaters right now, yet Bugs Bunny — by far the biggest star of the franchise — is nowhere to be found. The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is the story of Daffy Duck and Porky Pig thwarting an alien invasion. And apart from Petunia Pig, no other recognizable Looney Tunes characters appear in it. It’s a bold choice, but also an exciting one: the 90-minute film allows for a fully-developed story to take place between the duo — one that feels like a natural progression of their comedic partnership that began 88 years ago.
Introduced in 1935, Porky Pig quickly became Warner Bros.’ first star cartoon character. This was likely because he was their first lead that wasn’t a direct Mickey Mouse ripoff. So Porky went on to star in all kinds of shorts in the mid-1930s, including Tex Avery’s Porky’s Duck Hunt,...

Quick Links 25 Years Ago, Lobo Was Brought to Life A Sad Ending for DC's Lobo, Most Wanted Antihero
The pale-skinned, leather-jacket-wearing, motorcycle-riding bounty hunter from space is finally having his day in the Dcu. After years of wanting to play the part, actor Jason Momoa will be playing Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. DC fans are excited and have reason to be — aside from a supporting role in the second season of SyFy’s Krypton (2019), there has been no depiction of the character in a live-action space.
On the other hand, he’s come alive in various animated projects throughout the years, like the 90’s Superman cartoon, the Batman Beyond series, Justice League, and numerous straight-to-release Dcau titles. Not to mention... the DC Lego movies. Would you believe me if I told you that there was a Lobo show? One of which Warner Brothers is still not proud of?...

Peter Browngardt is currently the creative director of Looney Tunes Cartoons, and his first feature as a director, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is set to be released theatrically in 2025 after initially being dropped from a planned Max release and being acquired by Ketchup Entertainment.
The Day the Earth Blew Up follows Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (both voiced by series regular Eric Bauza) as they uncover a conspiracy involving an alien invasion. It’s a delightful sci-fi romp that will appeal to both young audiences who are discovering Looney Tunes for the first time and older audiences who have grown up with the characters.
We at FandomWire got to speak with Browngardt timed to the film’s North American premiere at the Animation Is Film festival in Los Angeles, CA. Check out the interview below!

Wayne's World breakout star, Tia Carrere, has had an illustrious career since starring in the 1992 comedy. Waynes World follows Wayne and his best friend Garth, as they host a popular TV show in his basement that gets noticed by a TV network executive. Waynes World was a huge success when it premiered. The movie, which only had a budget of $20 million, ended up being a huge success and making $183.1 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). The sequel, however, Waynes World 2, did not perform as well as the first movie.
Carrere, who played Cassandra Wong in the classic movie has amassed over 100 credits since she began her career. Since landing her first role in Aloha Summer, Carrere has appeared in several movies and TV shows, including General Hospital, Airwolf, and The A-Team. The Waynes World movies, which catapulted Carrere into stardom, were popular in the 90s, but despite this,...

Coyote vs. Acme was set to be the first Looney Tunes film in theaters in over 20 years, but unfortunately, the movie has been canceled. The upcoming Looney Tunes movie, The Day The Earth Blew Up, promises a modern twist on classic characters facing mind-controlling aliens. Warner Bros may favor a simpler Looney Tunes movie over Coyote vs. Acme, aiming for an entertaining film without breaking the bank.
Formally announced back in the summer of 2018, Coyote vs. Acme was on track to finally break an over-20-year-old curse from Warner Brothers regarding a Looney Tunes theatrical release (Space Jam: A New Legacy does not count since it was released on Max). The last big screen entry audiences received regarding this cartoon franchise was Looney Tunes: Back in Action in 2003, which sadly was a financial failure.

The Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate during Twilight caused tension between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Lautner's career has struggled since Twilight, with inconsistent roles in TV shows and B movies. Pattinson, on the other hand, has had a successful career shift, becoming an indie film darling and landing the role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman.
The years-long Twilight debate Team Edward vs. Team Jacob ended up getting in the way of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's offscreen friendship. An adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer books, the Twilight series saw its first film adaptation in 2008. In the films, protagonist Bella Swan is caught in a love triangle between vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black, a plot setup that sparked a vehement debate.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lautner reveals the toll that the Edward vs. Jacob debate took on him and Pattinson. According to the Jacob actor,...

As they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, The Flaming Lips have announced a new vinyl EP called Hypnotist. The tiny-but-mighty collection is out June 16th, and compiles rarities from the Yoshimi era, which we first heard on the massive anniversary box set the band released last year.
The EP opens with a whopping 24-minute “Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream,” which is long enough to be an EP in itself! But Side B also features demos of “Duck Dodgers Theme” and “I Know I’ve Got to Make That Dream the Real Thing,” as well as an instrumental of “Do You Realize??”
Pre-orders for Hypnotist EP are ongoing, available in an exclusive pink vinyl pressing. Below, you can watch a visualizer for “Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream,” as well as a clip of frontman Wayne Coyne revisiting the original 4-track recording of the song. Then, keep scrolling...

Over the years, the myths and legends surrounding Star Wars have become more ponderous than ever, to the extent that rabid fans examine each new development in the franchise through a harsh and unforgiving lens. But the creator of the series, Geoge Lucas, took a much more laid back approach to his work. In a recent tweet, Mark Hamill, who played the lead role of Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, confirmed that Lucas wanted to show a Duck Dodgers cartoon parody before his films to let audiences know not to take the whole thing too seriously.
George really did want this classic Daffy Duck cartoon shown before every screening of #Sw. It would've been an icebreaker to let the audience know what was coming was less than dead serious. I was disappointed when we couldn't get the rights to it & it didn't happen. #TrueStoryhttps://t.co/5VcGKH...

“Scoob!” will be hitting theaters in some overseas markets despite skipping the North American box office in May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Warner Bros. has confirmed the film will enjoy a combined theatrical release and premium VOD outing internationally — a strategy that was also recently employed by Universal, which plans to release animated feature “Trolls World Tour” in U.K. theaters when they reopen.
The global theatrical release for “Scoob!” will begin on July 8 in France, Holland and Switzerland, with additional countries rolling out over the summer. In France, which opened cinemas on June 22, theaters sold between 850,000 and 900,000 admissions through Sunday — down 50% from an average week in June, but still an impressive turnout given the severity of France’s Covid-19 outbreak and the evident confidence among audiences to return to cinemas.
Meanwhile, “Scoob!” will be available via PVOD from Wednesday in Australia and New Zealand.

About a month and a half after it made its debut online for premium video on demand, the animated film “Scoob!” will launch on HBO Max on June 26.
The animated “Scooby Doo” film debuted online on May 15 for $19.99 after its original June theatrical release date was scrapped. Warner Bros. hasn’t released digital box office numbers for how the kids movie has performed since its digital release, but it only makes sense that the new film could help draw eyes to the new streaming service, which launched shortly after “Scoob!” began its PVOD run.
The two seasons of the original animated series “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” are available now on HBO Max.

While Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart could easily pass for Skeet Ulrich and Mädchen Amick, we couldn't help but wonder who would play young Hiram. Well, it seems the show has found the perfect person for the role: Mark Consuelos's real-life son.
A post shared by Mark Consuelos (@instasuelos) on Jun 2, 2016 at 6:20pm Pdt
Entertainment Weekly recently confirmed that Consuelos's eldest son, Michael, will be playing a younger version of his character in the upcoming episode. We have to say, it's spot-on casting - the 21-year-old is the spitting image of his famous father. Though Michael has had a few voice roles on shows like Duck Dodgers and Go, Diego! Go!, Riverdale will be his first onscreen acting role.

Riverdale is keeping it all in the family, casting Mark Consuelos’ real-life son Michael to play a young version of Hiram Lodge in a Season 3 flashback episode, TV Insider is reporting.
The flashback episode — first revealed at the CW drama’s Comic-Con panel last month — will travel back to when the Riverdale gang’s parents were in high school, with the young cast playing teen versions of their onscreen parents. (Kj Apa will play a young Fred, and Lili Reinhart will play a young Alice.) “We’re gonna learn about a really, really dark secret that the parents have been...

A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon is on its way to Nickelodeon, called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they recently announced the cast that will make up the team of ninja turtles.
Ben Schwartz has been cast as Leonardo. I greatly disliked Schwartz’s character Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation, but that’s because he did such a great job, and while I normally wouldn’t like the idea of him being Leo, but it sounds like some changes are being made to the show to make it fresh. Leo is no longer the leader, but rather the cooler, rebellious brother while Raphael (voiced by Omar Miller) takes charge as leader. Donatello (voiced by Silicon Valley's Josh Brener) and still seems to be a techno-geek and Brandon Mychal Smith’s Michelangelo sounds like he’ll be the lovable Mikey we know.

Make no mistake – the box says Batman 3, but this is clearly the DC response to the Marvel Lego Super Heroes game from last year. With over 150 heroes and villains, an oncoming storm of Dlc, and a sweeping plotline, this is the biggest look at the Lego DC Universe yet.
The title says “Beyond Gotham” and they follow up straight away – the opening video features the six Lantern Corps that aren’t green. Sinestro, Star Sapphire, Saint Walker and Larfleeze start off bickering but are quickly defeated and put under the thrall of the game’s Big Bad, Brainiac. In only the opening levels of the game the narrative moves from an underground battle against Killer Croc to a outer space where Batman and Robin team up with fellow Justice Leaguers Flash, Cyborg and the Martian Manhunter.

The cast of Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham continues to grow, as Traveller’s Tales revealed that Stephen Amell, Conan O’Brien and Kevin Smith are lending their pipes to the title.
While not necessarily the biggest name of the three, the news of Stephen Amell coming to the game is sure to please fans of DC Comics. Currently starring as Oliver Queen on The CW’s Arrow, Amell will be reprising his role here.
Conan O’Brien and Kevin Smith, meanwhile, will be portraying themselves in the intergalactic adventure. O’Brien will serve as a guide for new players to the series, despite the fact that he knows little about videogaming and describes himself as a “clueless gamer.” Smith, on the other hand, will also portray himself and will lend his assistance to putting an end to Brainiac’s scheme.

Being a fan of animation has been a mixed bag in the last twenty years. There have plenty of amazing shows produced in the Us, Japan, and France, among others, and the internet has made discovering and following new shows easier than ever. But the last twenty years have also been a frustrating time for fans and collectors—promising series have been cancelled after short runs, lack of advertisement for new shows and time slot shifts killing momentum for new shows, Western animation shifting toward more low cost comedies, the Japanese anime industry alienating most of the world in various ways, and rare, bizarrely scheduled Blu-Ray and DVD releases.
For animation fans, particularly collectors, the gold standard has shifted from DVD to Blu-Ray, thanks in part to everything animated in Japan being in HD for the past few years. While plenty of older material from Japan is getting remastered and released on Blu-Ray,...

Disney announced today that comedian Dane Cook will voice the lead character Dusty, ‘a plane with high hopes,’ in their animated Cars spin-off Planes. Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) originally had the lead voice role in the developing stages, but is reportedly replaced by Cook (Good Luck Chuck). Cook is best known for his distinctive style of edgy comedy with a casual attitude, but previously also did voice work in Farce of the Penguins, Mr. 3000, and an episode of the TV series, Duck Dodgers. Head honcho John Lasseter joined the new animated film as a producer. Directed by Disneytoon Studios vet Klay...

Disney has announced that Dane Cook will voice the lead character "Dusty" in the upcoming Cars spin-off, Planes. Dusty dreams of being a racer, but because he's not built for it, he turns to a seasoned naval aviator to help him take on the defending champ of the racing circuit. Cook previously did voice work in Farce of the Penguins, Mr. 3000, and an episode of the TV series, Duck Dodgers. Cook had a pretty crummy run of feature films in the mid-2000s, but he did a treat turn in the little-seen Detention ("I make 40 'G's' a year plus dental. You may not have a Skittle."), and he probably endeared himself to some folks for his guest spot on Louie. Hit the jump to check out the press release. Planes opens in 3D on August 9th. When Mondo announces a new series, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be focusing solely on that series until it wraps. Instead, Mondo seems to like keeping us on our toes by having about half a dozen different series in play at any given time. Some of ‘em wrap quickly, while others keep going for quite a while. Take their Looney Tunes series: Tom Whalen kicked off that license with a Duck Dodgers print all the way back in March (at the opening of the Mondo Gallery). He’s handled each of the Looney Tunes print that followed, and most expected him to see the series through to its conclusion. But today Mondo announced something surprising: not only are they dropping two new Looney Tunes posters tomorrow…but neither of them was created by Tom Whalen. Surprised? Wanna see who is handling the next two prints in this series?...

The Mondo Gallery opened in Austin, Texas during SXSW 2012, and with it came movie poster heaven. The theme for the gallery's opening event was science fiction. Some of the greatest artists in the world came with their designs for the best sci-fi movies of history. Movie posters for films like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn got a reworking by artist Tyler Stout. Phantom City offered a creative take on the most famous image from Melies' A Trip to the Moon. Jason Edmiston's acrylic on wood panel of Flash Gordon's Ming the Merciless is a thing of sinister beauty. Even Duck Dodgers got his own poster from Tom Whalen. It's all one more move towards the Alamo Drafthouse taking over the movie geek world as we know it. Headed by creative director Justin Ishmael, Mondo Tees consistently presents fans of all things cinema with their own, unique brand...

I’ve been trying to make it through the Green Lantern DVD. I didn’t see it in the theaters – nobody I knew actually liked it, although to be fair few totally hated it. But when a close friend who happens to be in the intellectual property racket told me the best way to see it was to download a bootleg, I got dissuaded. So now ComicMix reports there’s an “extended cut” DVD out there. Hot damn! 360 seconds of more mud.
Bobby Greenberger, who writes under the name “Robert,” reviewed this dachshund a couple days ago and he did so with all the eloquence and joie de vivre one should expect from a comic book editor turned Star Trek writer turned politician. All I can say about his review is that I agree with his observations and, damn, he’s a lot more polite than I am.
Green Lantern deserves better than this.

Can Taylor Lautner bust out of the Twilight ‘Team Jacob’ quicksand and become an actual star? Lionsgate’s president of motion pictures seems to think so, and he already has plans for the up-and-coming action hero, with the first step being the new action thriller, Abduction.
Taylor Lautner is a textbook example that shows the sometimes bumpy road that an actor must travel on the way to becoming a star. From providing his voice for various animated shows (What’s New, Scooby-Doo?, Duck Dodgers) to starring in the kid-friendly Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D, and then shooting into the spotlight in a major way as Jacob Black in the Twilight Saga franchise, Lautner is a long way from being an overnight success. However, his time to truly shine might have finally arrived in the form of his new film, Abduction.

There has to be some background for this column, or at least a little bit of story, just so readers can understand why I would be so excited about a particular book that I finally found in my favorite used bookstore a couple of weeks ago.

Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.
Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be...
