Tha Tha Tha...Action ka tha tha tha.

Platform review :

Platform was one of the first few films signed by Ajay Devgn and that time it was a two hero project with Prithvi also playing a pivotal role. By 1992, Prithvi's films crashed at the box office while Ajay had two blockbusters - Phool Aur Kaante (1991) and Jigar (1992) - to his credit. That led to change in Platform's script and the two hero plot became one sided in favour of Ajay Devgn even as Prithvi was relegated to a small role.

Priya Arora (now Tisca Chopra) was cast opposite Devgn and her rain song 'Barsaat ka bahaana achcha hai..' is still memorable. 'Tha Tha Tha..Duniya ki tha tha tha' is another popular number from the movie.

The film came in 1993 which was a horrible year for Devgn as almost all his films failed that year. Released at Super Cinema where his Phool Aur Kaante had celebrated a silver jubilee run, Platform couldnt perform to the high expectations people had from it. It worked well in the interiors but still was labelled a flop by trade pundits.

However as years passed, Platform gathered its own fan following and used to play regularly in re-runs at most Grant Road cinemas like Alfred and Gulshan. It re-released a couple of times at Super also where it fared better than its initial run.

A high octane actioner and a must watch for Devgn fans. Thats how I will sum up Platform.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
