David Seidler, the London-born playwright and screenwriter best known for “The King’s Speech,” has died while on a fly-fishing vacation in New Zealand, as per a report in The Guardian. His spokesperson said he was in the location he most revered, doing the activity he most loved when he passed: “It is exactly as he would have scripted it.” The winner of the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay for the Colin Firth-led film was 86 years old.
Seidler’s career began in Australian television in the late 1960s. He came to the United States in the early 1980s, working for the soap opera “Another World,” then writing television movies like “Malice in Wonderland,” something of an early version of the series “Feud” as it concerned Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons starring Jane Alexander and Elizabeth Taylor. In the 1980s, he scripted episodes of the Days of Our Lives, Another World, and General Hospital. Seidler is also renowned for his biopic work, having co-written the TV movies Malice in Wonderland (starring Elizabeth Taylor) and Onassis: The Richest Man in the World (starring Raul Julia) and the feature film Tucker: The Man and His Dream...

I’ve got an intense trailer here for an upcoming backwoods murder mystery thriller called A Dark Place. I enjoy a good murder mystery film and this one actually looks like it could be pretty good.
When a young boy turns up dead in a sleepy Western Pennsylvania town, Donald, a local garbage truck driver, takes it upon himself to play detective. He embarks on an obsessive investigation to prove that the boy had been murdered, leading to unthinkable and harrowing consequences.
The movie stars Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Victor Frankenstein, Alice Through the Looking Glass), with a supporting cast that includes Bronagh Waugh, Denise Gough, J.D. Evermore, Griff Furst, and Sandra Ellis Lafferty.
A Dark Place was directed by Simon Fellows and it will be released on April 12th.

Beatrice sported a regal black velvet top and leather skirt, which she accessorized with a dramatic cat eye mask. To add even more mystery to her festive costume, she topped it off with a platinum blonde wig.

Almost exactly a year ago, we wrote about how 20th Century Fox planned a feature film reboot for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the box office bomb from 2003 that was an adaptation of Alan Moore's well-respected comic book series. We hadn't heard anything about the new version of the film since last year's update, so I assumed the movie just fell into development hell or was abandoned altogether.
But here comes Variety, swooping in to confirm that not only is the movie apparently still happening, but it's closer to life than ever. Producer John Davis still doesn't have a director or cast in place, but he did hire a writer: Jayson Rothwell, the guy behind movies like Malice in Wonderland and the Christmas horror comedy Silent Night. That's not exactly what I'd call great news for those who had high hopes this reboot would be a massive improvement over the original movie,...

Constantin Film and Dark Horse Entertainment are joining forces to bring Polar to the big screen. Based on the popular Dark Horse Comics graphic novel Polar: Came from the Cold by Victor Santos, Constantin Film has pre-emptively purchased the spec, Polar written by Jayson Rothwell.
The adrenaline-pumping action-thriller tells the story of Black Kaiser, a master assassin forced out of retirement when he finds himself the target of a motley crew of new generation hitmen. But Kaiser's gun-blazing and bloody universe is at odds with the doting and protective relationship he has with the child of one of his former marks. Faced...

Constantin Film and Dark Horse Entertainment have pacted on noir spy revenge tale Polar, adapted from the celebrated Dark Horse Comics graphic novel Polar: Came From The Cold by Victor Santos. The action-thriller follows a master assassin named Black Kaiser who’s forced out of retirement by an assassination attempt by a crew of younger hitmen. Constantin sprung for a script by Jayson Rothwell (Malice In Wonderland, Silent Night) and with Dark Horse are now eyeing directors for a spring 2015 shoot.
The stylized Polar originated as a free “silent” web comic before Dark Horse published it as a graphic novel in 2013, adding dialogue. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer will produce with Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil) and Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg. Rothwell is repped by Wme.

With one week to go to the finale, we’ve reached the point of Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition where the show should theoretically be about dance alone. Am I right? The also-rans have gone home. The remaining dancers are all deserving. The mothers are well-behaved … well, except for Cindy. But her big problem was JoJo and Jessalynn, and they’re back in Nebraska. So nothing but earnest, honest competition and great dancing, yes? No. Cindy just said she would do whatever needs to be done to win this thing. There will still be hysteria. • Related: Dance Moms Cares and Dance Moms […]

Director: Simon Fellows.
Writer: Jayson Rothwell.
Cast: Maggie Grace, Danny Dyer and Matt King.
Interestingly, Malice in Wonderland has seen several incarnations throughout the years. In ’82, it was a short film and in ’85, it was a television series. And the musical version, featuring Snoop Dogg and Jamie Foxx, may not be for everyone.
To those people who can “dig it,” you will certainly love Gary Beadle ("EastEnders") who plays a very hip Felix Chester. Although his role is a very small one, his appearance is what defines this film. His charisma and charm is perfect for the role he’s placed in.
The story looks at the life of an American lost in the boroughs of London. Alice (Maggie Grace) is on the run. She’s introduced to viewers as a woman fleeing from someone in London’s subway system. After leaving one hole, she enters another — and she has...

Update! Anchor Bay just sent out a press release, saying that they have acquired North American distribution rights to the new Silent Night. The Genre Company and Ember Productions are teaming up for a "loose remake" of 1984's Silent Night, Deadly Night. Frankly I'm shocked it took them this long to get around to remaking it. We've got the details after the jump. Steven C. Miller (The Aggression Scale) will direct a script by Jayson Rothwell (Malice in Wonderland). This version will simply be titled Silent Night, which is a huge mistake in my opinion. When I was 10 years old and searching the video store for my weekend movie, I was drawn to Silent Night, Deadly Night solely for the...

This just in from the Not Another Pointless Remake, Oh Yes Another Pointless Remake desk: Malcolm McDowell, who apparently has tax problems or wants to add a hot tub to his pool or something, has signed to star in Silent Night, the forthcoming remake of 1984's notorious Santa slasher flick, Silent Night, Deadly Night.
Variety is reporting that Silent Night, which will be directed by Steven C. Miller (Scream of the Banshee) and written by Jayson Rothwell (Malice in Wonderland), will be a "loose" remake. So if you're a devoted fan of the original movie, you can be either extremely outraged or barely outraged. Or, like the rest of humanity, you can just stare blankly, shake your head slowly and utter a snide aside along the lines of "of course" or "because why not."

I enjoy CSI the most when it embraces and take advantage of the quirks and unique aspects of Las Vegas - and there isn’t any bigger stereotype for the former home of the Rat Pack than weddings.
This week, "Malice in Wonderland" sets our case right in the middle of the marriage industry, which actually worked to tell us more about the team than about the two masked robbers. For example, we learned that Finn never got a chance to marry the love of her life, but did have two weddings of her own.
I really liked how we had to be paying attention to the conversations to find the little nuggets of information about Finn and her history. I’m guessing by the closing scene that the love of her life must have also died before she was able to walk down the aisle.

Nadia Bjorlin, also known as Chloe from Days of Our Lives, has been cast in an upcoming episode of CSI, titled “Malice in Wonderland.” When you use a title that so blatantly references Lewis Carroll I expect to see some serious Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland themes. Those may be hidden at this point to surprise us when the episode airs, because from what we know of Bjorlin’s character nothing screams Lewis Carroll. One can still hope, however slim the chances are.
The news of the casting broke out over Bjorlin’s Twitter. “Malice in Wonderland,” the 18th episode of the season, will see Bjorlin as Crystal Hasselbeck, a con artist in Las Vegas with a talent for messing with the hearts of unsuspecting men. Her main con that nets her all of her money is to get engaged, break things off, and then keep the ring to sell for big bucks.

While the bulk of the attention concerning Snow White has been Mirror Mirror and this summer's Snow White and the Huntsman, Disney has quietly been tinkering with their own re-imagined version of the tale. A while back, their version was said to be a kung-fu take on the story with Natalie Portman, Michael Chabon and The Matrix fight choreographer Yuen Woo-ping all being involved at some point. Now with a re-polished script from Jayson Rothwell (Malice in Wonderland)and Michael DeBruyn and Austrailian director Michael Gracey now on board to helm the project, it seems this latest re-imagining is ready to roll. Saoirse Ronan will star in Order of Seven, which attempts to ditch the narrative ties with the fairy tale. Instead the story will center on Olivia Sinclair...

Director Simon Fellows (Malice in Wonderland) is set to take on one of the most neglected mysteries of the 20th century with an adaptation of Alan K. Barker’s book Dyatlov Pass about an incident that should rank alongside the disappearance of the crew of the Marie Celeste.
Taking place in 1959 during the Cold War, The Dyatlov Pass Incident saw an experienced nine man expedition of ski-hikers led by Igor Dyatlov attempt to traverse a set of mountains in the Urals of Russia. The group failed to return from their trip, and were subsequently discovered by investigators with their tents seemingly having been torn open from within, barefoot in the snow with significant injuries, and yet no outward sign of struggle.
A further layer of mystery was added by subsequent government documents which suggested high levels of radiation discovered among the bodies of the crew. Soviet investigators would conclude that...

2B Pictures, the banner of Blighty’s Future Film Group, is adapting Alan K. Baker’s novel Dyatlov Pass, based on the mysterious ski incident, for the big screen.
The film will be directed by Simon Fellows (Malice in Wonderland), following the true-life events that occurred on February 1959 in the Russia’s Urals, when nine experienced cross-country skiers mysteriously died.
Andy Briggs (Ghost Town) will adapt the script on Baker’s version of the event. The hiker’s deaths have already attracted much speculations being linked to paranormal activity or a military keeping secret.
The tent had been cut open from inside and counted footprints from eight or nine people in meter-deep snow. Though there was no sign of fight, two skiers had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, one was missing her tongue and clothing belonging to them contained high levels of radiation. Authorities said the group died as...

Decades before three campers disappeared fictitiously in The Blair Witch Project, an incident happened in Russia that resulted in the mysterious deaths of nine people in the northern Ural mountains. The night was February 2, 1959. The mystery lingers to this day.
Many years later a movie is finally coming out detailing this strange occurrence. According to The Hollywood Reporter director Simon Fellows (Malice In Wonderland) will direct an adaptation of Alan K. Barker's book Dyatlov Pass, based on true life events which saw nine students die in unexplained circumstances.
The script is being penned by Andy Briggs, and the production is anticipated to begin shooting next summer in Eastern Europe.

Malice in Wonderland director Simon Fellows has been attached to an adaptation of Alan K. Barker's novel "Dyatlov Pass." Set in Russia, the novel is the non-fictional account of what may have happened to nine hikers in the late-50s who disappeared. According to Wikipedia: "Investigators at the time determined that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot in heavy snow. Though the corpses showed no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. According to sources, four of the victims' clothing contained substantial levels of radiation." Andy Briggs will script the film.

The movie trailer for the upcoming horror film from After Dark Originals called "The Task" has been released and we have it for you to view below. You can see it below the creepy international one-sheet poster and synopsis below below.
Not sure what I think about the flick so far, but I'm hoping it is better than the trailer suggests. Not a terrible concept, but one that feels a bit over done to me. I mean, didn't we kind of see this idea in one of the Halloween sequels? Maybe I'm just burnt out on all things "reality show".
The Task was written by Kenny Yakkel, directed by Simon Fellows (Malice in Wonderland, Blessed) and stars Texas Battle (Dixon), Alexandra Staden (Connie), Adam Raynor (Taylor). Enjoy.

Summit Entertainment has recruited another actor to become a vampire in both "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I" and "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part II". Deadline Hollywood first reported that Maggie Grace has been cast as Irina before a rep from the studio confirmed the news to MTV News.
In Stephenie Meyer's novels, Irina is described as a member of the Denali coven, who practices a diet of drinking animal instead of human blood and allies with the Cullens. That is, until Irina blames the family for the death of her former lover, Laurent, and vengefully reveals a Cullen family secret to the Volturi.
Prior to Grace, Rami Malek has also joined the cast of "Breaking Dawn" as Benjamin, an Egyptian coven who is called upon by the Cullen family to help them against the Volturi. He has the special ability of controlling the elements: earth, air,...

Luc Besson teams up with actress Maggie Grace, making her the victim once more in the film "Lockout" from Europacorp and Sony Pictures Entertainment. No, the film isn't no lame drama about being locked out of your house, but rather it's about a man who's wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He's then offered freedom only if he rescues the president's daughter out of a space prison. Guy Pearce is already on the production, playing the wronged convict trying to win back his freedom. Grace just signed on to play the president's daughter, what a surprise. "Lockout" is co-directed by James Mather and Stephen st. Leger off the script they co-wrote with Luc Besson. Grace went straight to DVD in her lead role on Simon Fellows' "Malice in Wonderland". She's already signed on to be part of "Taken 2", whenever that'll finally lift itself out of development and into production.

David Beckham is to be given rap lessons by Snoop Dogg. The England soccer player, who recently met up with the rapper when they filmed an advert for Adidas together, goes "way back" with Snoop and the hip-hop star has offered to teach him how to spit lyrics while he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
"Beckham and I go way back. He's like a brother. I'm gonna show him to rap, for shizzle," the 38-year-old musician said. "He's my boy. He was terrific with my kids and they had a great time as he taught them how to shoot and score the perfect goal."
Snoop has also promised the pair will star in more Adidas adverts together. He told the Daily Mirror newspaper, "The Adidas ad was unbelievable. You had four classic brands, Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, 'Star Wars', Adidas."
"With a formula like that it's gonna be off the chain.

Writer-director Robert Saitzyk wants to break on through to the other side.
Saitzyk wrote and will direct "The Last Beat," a drama inspired by the last days of Jim Morrison, for Zero Gravity Management ("The Cooler"). Shawn Andrews, who starred in Saitzyk's debut feature "After the Flood," is attached to star.
Zero Gravity's Mark Holder and Christine Holder are producing the project, which begins shooting in Paris in October.
A nontraditional biopic, "Beat" will track the final days of Jay Douglas, a famous American rock star in the early '70s, as he navigates his relationships with two women in Paris -- a glamorous French Countess named Clemence and his California "soulmate," Valerie Eason.
Gus Van Sant used a similar approach in his 2005 film "Last Days," in which he envisioned a fictionalized portrait of the days leading to Kurt Cobain's suicide.
Saitzyk is the writer-director of "White of Winter" and "Godspeed.

No, I don't know if cockney if the form of English spoken by those in North East England, where Malice in Wonderland is set. Take it up with someone who gives a rat's ass.
The trailer below is for Simon Fellow's Malice in Wonderland, which was written by Fellow's screenwriting collaborator, Jayson Rothwell. I actually dig the idea -- a modern-day Alice in Wonderland, where the characters are thugs and hooligans -- but the trailer doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Maggie Grace plays Alice. You know Grace from "Lost," or, perhaps, from the posters above your bed.
Malice in Wonderland has already been released in the UK, where it racked up a whopping $2,000, which doesn't say a lot for its chances stateside. It opens here on Friday, if by "here" you mean one theater in a seedy section of Los Angeles.

I don't what the hell this is, but holy crap it's trippy! Apple has debuted the official trailer for an indie film called Malice in Wonderland that is, no doubt, inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland. This stars Maggie Grace as Alice, who you might know better as Liam Neeson's daughter in Taken. Okay, okay, I know, before you start asking me why the heck I'm even featuring this, there's a few simple reasons. First, it's so insanely wacky that I just had to share it with all of you! Second, I have quite a crush on Maggie Grace (she's 26) and she looks pretty damn good in this. If you're looking for a very weird trailer, this is it!
