The new hopefuls for the next Dancing with the Stars season haven’t been revealed yet, but Derek Hough is already throwing a name into the ring.

The former DWTS dancer turned judge would love to see Taylor Lautner show off his dance skills.

During a recent interview, Derek shared why he thinks Taylor would be an ideal pick for next season’s lineup.

Meanwhile, if that does happen, it would be quite some time before we see The Twilight Saga star in the ballroom.

Season 33 ended in November 2024 and there haven’t been any updates on the new season.

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and his partner, Jenna Johnson, were the last couple to win the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Who knows, Taylor might be paired with Jenna next season and keep her winning streak going.

This week on the Pilot TV Podcast we have a trifecta of terrific guests for your listening pleasure. Sandwiched between this week's interviews, back in the podbooth James Dyer, Kay Ribeiro and Boyd get stuck into a listener's question that has the team reflecting on great book-to-series adaptations, and... well... less great ones, too. Resident Evil Producer Adapting Popular YA Vampire Series for the Big Screen (And It's Not Twilight)
Image
Back in the mid-2000s, The Twilight Saga spawned an endless interest in the fantasy YA genre, with countless authors making a shift towards vampires, werewolves, angels, and all things supernatural. Now, a popular young adult book series serving as the perfect Twilight replacement is heading to the big screen.

Producer Victor Hadida and Molly Hassell are officially developing an adaptation of the House of Night novels. The bestselling YA adult series came from the mother-daughter P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. The upcoming adaptation will have critically acclaimed director Rain Li at the helm, who will co-write the script with author P.C. Cast with Davis Films and Hassell Free Production.

What Happened to Taylor Lautner’s Hollywood Career After Twilight?
Image
Sometimes the universe has a funny way of bringing you full circle. That line could very well sum up Taylor Lautner’s journey in Hollywood post-Twilight. The actor who once sparked feverish debates about Team Jacob vs. Team Edward in living rooms across the world has had a rather winding road since those iconic wolf-packed days.

He’s been busy charting a unique path—one that’s bringing him back to the very thing that first made him a household name.

Taylor Lautner To Star in 'Werewolf Hunter' Comedy Series at Amazon
Image
In the late 2000s and early 2000s, there was arguably nothing in pop culture that had a stronger grip on viewers than the Twilight saga. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner took the world by storm, and their characters, Bella, Edward, and Jacob spawned watercooler conversations where arguments ensued over which "team" was the best. Stewart and Pattison found a great deal of post-Twilight fame, while Lautner mostly vanished from the spotlight, only recently reemerging for a handful of roles – including his newest project, which might be his best yet: a meta-comedy called Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter.

After appearing in ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift's 2023 music video for "I Can See You," the forgotten heartthrob is reemerging for his most meta project yet. According to Variety, Lautner's werewolf past is catching up with him in the form of a new series, Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. The project will feature...

‘The Toll’ Review (Shudder)
Image
Stars: Jordan Hayes, Max Topplin, James McGowan, Rosemary Dunsmore, Daniel Harroch | Written and Directed by Michael Nader

Michael Nader wrote the script for one of the more interesting and overlooked monster films of the last couple of years, Head Count. Now he’s back with The Toll, which he not only wrote but is the first feature he’s directed after several shorts.

The Toll is the latest entry in the “ride share from hell” genre that includes the likes of Spree, Ryde and Driven. And like the last of those films, this one has a supernatural edge to it that separates it from the majority of these films which rely exclusively on all to human monsters.

Jon Glaser at an event for Veep (2012)
‘Jon Glaser Loves Gear’ Star Isn’t A Douchebag, But He Plays One on TV
Jon Glaser at an event for Veep (2012)
Jon Glaser loves gear. “Jon Glaser” really loves gear.

TruTV’s new series “Jon Glaser Loves Gear,” which premieres Wednesday night, defies classification. It’s a fake reality show about a celebrity who loves cool gadgets, but it includes segments with real people showcasing real cool gadgets. It’s heavily improvised, but with real scripted story tangents, as comedian Jon Glaser, playing an awful version of himself, watches the narrative unravel.

“It is weirdly hard to describe,” Glaser said. “And when people ask, ‘What is gear?’ that has an even wider definition.”

“Jon Glaser Loves Gear” follows the fictional Glaser as he pitches TruTV on the show, which the network quickly greenlights. He finds a sidekick (Steve Cirbus, “Delocated”) and in the first episode, and sets out to go camping. After his wife refuses to play along, he auditions models to play his spouse… and things fall apart once the camping gets started.

They're also ordering an as-yet untitled live-action show starring Adam Scott and Jon Daly as pro golfers and a live-action comedy by Jon Glaser (whom you might know best as Councilman Jamm on Parks and Recreation) called Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter (the title should be self-explanatory: Joe wears neon and hunts werewolves). Jon Glaser Takes an Adult Swim With Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter
The innuendo of the above headline has us snickering like tiny schoolgirls, but sometimes we just cannot help ourselves. Some shaggy fun is on its way to the Adult Swim programming block. Read on for details.

According to Variety, Adult Swim is ready to sink its teeth into “Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter,” a pilot from creator Jon Glaser (pictured) that follows a man who happens to have both a particular fashion sense and a desirable skill set.

The show’s hero is Neon Joe, someone with a mysterious past and a craft that comes in handy when a sudden plague of inexplicable werewolf fatalities strikes, leaving the sheriff’s department of the pretend sleepy enclave of Garrity, Vermont (aka “B&B Town, USA!”), at a loss and the townspeople fearing for their lives. Will he catch the beast before the next full moon, or will it live another day and kill again?...

Delocated (2009)
Jon Glaser Pitches His New Show Idea: Neon Joe: Werewolf Hunter
Delocated (2009)
Last night, the pretty bonkers series finale of Delocated aired. So it's hard not to wonder what its creator, Jon Glaser, will do next (aside from reprise his roles on Girls and Parks and Recreation). If his recent conversation with Eugene Mirman is any indication, Glaser has plenty of new show ideas: There's Stayin' Put!, his show about comedians who don't move to L.A.; and Chiquitas, which is "sort of like Girls but it’s in Cancun." However, at the New York Delocated finale party at Comedy Bar last night, he might've announced to Vulture his best project yet: Neon Joe: Werewolf Hunter. "It’s about a guy that wears neon but he also hates werewolves," he told us. "He wears Coors Light pants because they call Coors Light the silver bullet, so those are his silver bullets to combat werewolves." As for how this brilliant idea came to...

The 2000′s: A Vital Decade in Horror Cinema
Many film websites published “decade’s best horror films” lists in late 2009/early 2010. While these lists collectively provided a rough snapshot of the genre’s ups and downs during that time, with more time to reflect, it becomes increasingly clear what an important period the 2000’s were for the horror genre on a global scale.

Not only did this decade easily and obviously eclipse the comparatively arid 1990’s in both volume of production and overall quality, the 2000’s can also be looked at as a crucial one for horror cinema despite the justified outrage about the American film industry’s widespread strip-mining of classics and foreign films for remakes/re-boots and its saturation of the market with teen-friendly PG-13 rated horror films.

While by no means as groundbreaking as the 1970’s or as sentimentally regarded as the 1980’s, the 2000’s will be recalled as the decade that, despite well-founded criticisms...

Exclusive Interview: Paco Plaza Rebels Against the Rec Norm with Genesis
The next chapter in the hit Spanish horror series Rec breaks the claustrophobic confines of its urban tenement teeming with possessed residents ready to tear your throat out.

Rec 3: Genesis – hitting VOD this Thursday from Magnet Releasing - relocates the action and bloodshed to the wedding reception of Koldo and Clara, a young couple happily in love until a vicious outbreak plagues their friends and family. The results are gory and, at times, hilarious. But the setting isn't the only thing different about this entry and, unlike the previous Rec entries, there’s only one man sitting in the director’s chair this time – Paco Plaza.

Plaza had previously helmed Romasanta and the clever holiday treat, A Christmas Tale, one of the "6 Films to Keep You Awake" film series. Of course, he had also co-directed Rec and Rec 2 with Jaume Balaguero. Shock spoke with Plaza about his sequel, its "rebellious" nature,...

Greatest Horror Movies Ever Made: Part 4: Werewolves
There have been many portrayals of werewolves and other shapeshifting man/woman-beasts, in the media of film, but I can’t say there has been many memorable ones. With The Wolf Man (1941) Lon Chaney Jr. transformed into a werewolf at the full moon, and created one of the three most famous horror icons of the modern day. Werewolf fiction as since been an exceptionally diverse genre with ancient folkloric roots and manifold modern re-interpretations – from high shcool basketball players to American tourists hiking through the UK. Here is the list of my personal favourites.

#13- El aullido del diablo/ Howl of the Devil (1987)

Directed by: Paul Naschy

Paul Naschy, also known as Jacinto Molina Alvarez, was a Spanish movie actor, screenwriter, and director working primarily in horror films. His portrayals of numerous classic horror figures—the wolfman, the hunchback, Count Dracula, the mummy—have earned him recognition as the Spanish Lon Chaney.

Red Riding Hood Blu-ray Review
From the outset, Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood sounds kind of… great? Seriously. Her best film is easily Thirteen, which dealt with young girls coming to understand their sexuality (and power therein), and Hardwicke brought the right temperament to the first Twilight film – she got the sexuality right and winked at the audience about the material’s inherent silliness. For Red Riding Hood, she has a great cast (Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Virginia Madsen, Lukas Haas, Julie Christie), the idea of the wolf as sexual predator, and the same sort of romantic triangle. If the film had done anything right, it might have – if nothing else – achieved cult status. Too bad the film is garbage in any cut. Our review of the Blu-ray of Red Riding Hood (which offers an Alternate cut of the movie) follows after the jump. A medieval village is being hunted by a werewolf, and has been for decades.

Arrow Video Announces Fantastic Factory Presents…
Brian Yuzna
All you DVD collecting horror fanatics out there have probably noticed some of the awesome releases that have been coming out of the UK’s Arrow Video as of late. They do an amazing job packaging their discs, windowed slip covers, allowing you to choose which of the multiple artworks to display on your shelf, posters, and several discs to hold all the fantastic extras. They know what we collectors want, and they provide.

Now Arrow is releasing their first several film box set, and it is, brace yourself… all Fantastic Factory titles.

The Fantastic Factory was a branch of Filmax founded in 2000 in Barcelona by filmmakers Brian Yuzna and Julio Fernández. The purpose of the studio was to make modestly budgeted genre films in English for an international audience, to have more opportunities to work with genre favorites like Screaming Mad George and Jeffrey Combs, and, of course, to...

Sean Bean and Annabelle Wallis in The Lost Future (2010)
SyFy Channel Original Movies are getting serious attention.
Sean Bean and Annabelle Wallis in The Lost Future (2010)
Ok, I’m not saying the days of Mansquito and Sharktopus are gone, it appears that SyFy is now getting movies people want to see.

Last Saturday Red: The Werewolf Hunter brought in big numbers for the channel. We’re talking 2.06 million viewers. Of course the big draw was Felicia Day, the love interest from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog and creator of her own web series, The Guild. Since Dr. Horrible came out, Felicia has become a cult icon amongst the geek community. So people have really been waiting for a movie with her in it.

SyFy’s next movie will star Sean Bean in The Lost Future, and is set in an exotic and dangerous future world where an isolated tribe battles for survival in a landscape overrun by mutated beasts carrying a mysterious and deadly illness.

Assuming the film does well, it will be the flagship for a series of 3 films.

[Rec] 2 Viral Zombie Emergency Video and New Stills
It's always nice to know that you're prepared for the worst. In this case the worst being a horde of flesh-eating zombies hellbent on the destruction of the world one bite at a time. And though the creatures in [Rec] 2 aren't exactly what you would call traditional zombies, they're still very much undead, and this new viral video will teach you the proper way to handle them.

In celebration of the film's UK release onto DVD and Blu-Ray, the cheeky bastards across the pond have just released the following video.

From the Press Release

After terrifying audiences with their nerve-shredding cult hit [Rec], acclaimed filmmakers Jaume Balaguero (Darkness; Fragile) and Paco Plaza (Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt) return to crank the fear factor to unprecedented levels with the highly anticipated sequel, [Rec] 2, which is already being hailed as a “leader for this year’s most frightening feature” (Fangoria).

A rare thing in being a...

True Blood: Season Three So Far, So Slow
What better way of celebrating the birth of America than with a bunch of pale-faced, sex-crazed maniacs? No, I’m not talking about the Justin Bieber fans at Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks – I’m talking about HBO’s bloodsuckers and fangbangers on True Blood, who set off a few (metaphorical) fireworks of their own as the Home Box Office replayed the first three episodes of season three. So on second viewing, what held up, what knocked our socks off, and what just plain isn’t working?

I mean, you know... Not much is working. Or at least, it’s working darn slowly, as True Blood continues to slide into Six Feet Under territory, more concerned with the ongoing soap opera, than the mysteries that kept us glued to season one. Let’s talk about what’s happened, so far, in three full hours of television, character by character:...

Tim Burton to Make Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie
We recently showed you the trailer for Seth Grahame-Smith's novel "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," which is a loose sketch of Lincoln's life with one twist - the 16th Us president is the world's most skilled vampire hunter. Deadline is now reporting that Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) have used their own money to acquire film rights to the novel. No studio is involved as of yet. Graham-Smith has made a career of creating mash-ups. His first book "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" was a marriage of the Jane Austen tale with an attack of bloodthirsty zombies. Lionsgate has already picked up the film rights and set Natalie Portman to star. After posting the original article, many of you had some funny ideas for follow-ups. Realgirl76 suggested "Helen Keller: Werewolf Hunter," SpookyCupcakes suggested "Ben Franklin: Ghost Buster," and BunnyFooFoo suggested "Harriet Tubman vs. Aliens.

Review: 'Paintball'
Brian Yuzna
Astute horror fans will recognize the Spanish production company Filmax as the outfit that gave us [Rec], The Kovax Box, that "6 Films to Keep You Awake" series, and a handful of collaborations with American filmmaker Brian Yuzna. (That partnership yielded titles like Rottweiler, Werewolf Hunter: The Legend of Romasanta, and Beyond Re-Animator.) So obviously we're dealing with an outfit that really likes its horror flicks, and that may help to explain why I'm probably being a little kinder to their newest offering. It's a basic slasher-type horror flick called Paintball, and yes, the film is precisely what you think it is. We open with a military man who promises the finest paintball war games under the sun....

Exorcismus gets rolling in Spain
On Monday, October 5, shooting commenced on Exorcismus, the latest fear film to come out of Spain’s Filmax studios. As with so many Spanish genre productions of the last decade, this one is also directed by a relative newcomer to feature filmmaking, Manuel Carballo (taking over for originally slated Luis de la Madrid). And in common with most of the company's previous horror movies (such as Arachnid, Dagon, Darkness, The MacHinist and Beyond Re-animator), the movie is being filmed with a multinational cast in English, on locations in and around the city of Barcelona.

The cast includes Resident Evil: Apocalypse’s Sophie Vavasseur (pictured), Richard Felix from Filmax’s Fragile, which still has yet to see U.S. release, Hellraiser stalwart Doug Bradley and the first Resident’s Stephen Billington. The movie has already been presold to a dozen countries, including Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Poland, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Most...
