Viola Davis on Fight Scenes in Action Film ‘G20’: “6-Year-Old Viola Would Have Been Squealing”
Image
Viola Davis is back in action for Amazon’s G20, playing U.S. president Danielle Sutton who must defend her family and world leaders when the G20 summit is overtaken by terrorists.

At the film‘s Los Angeles premiere on Thursday, Davis noted how “it was a long ride” to release the movie after working on it as a producer since 2016.

Standing alongside husband and producing partner Julius Tennon, Davis told The Hollywood Reporter that the project “was just different for us — it seemed like a very commercial, fun movie, out of the box; something that people wouldn’t normally see me in but that I was very capable of. So, to actually see it brought to fruition, it just makes you proud of our capabilities [and] our vision.”

And though the film is action-packed, Davis said the stunt work was different than her preparation for 2022’s The Woman King,...

Jaden Smith Is Not The Karate Kid Anymore but Cheng Actor Zhenwei Wang Is Still a Certified Killer in Real Life
Image
Jaden Smith has had quite the journey since his breakout role in The Karate Kid. He went from being an adorable, wide-eyed, kung fu-learning pre-teen to a philosophical poet who tweets things like, “How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real?” The kid who once threw punches at bullies now throws profound thoughts into the X (formerly Twitter) void, leaving us all questioning reality.

Beyond the cryptic posts, Smith has dabbled in various artistic pursuits, music, fashion, and even launching a sustainable water company. He’s evolved from Jackie Chan’s protégé into an avant-garde trendsetter who wears Batman suits to weddings and boldly experiments with his own style. But let’s be real, when was the last time we saw him doing a spinning backkick?

Zhenwei Wang is still out here breaking boards Zhenwei...

'The Karate Kid' Movies Leave Netflix and Will Stream on Hulu in April
Image
If you're a Karate Kid fan, then you'll likely be very disappointed in April if you're also a Netflix subscriber. The streamer is removing The Karate Kid (1984), The Karate Kid Part II (1986), and The Karate Kid Part III (1989) from its library starting April 1. Fans of the sports drama franchise only have about a week to explore the origins of Daniel Larusso and Miyagi's story.

However, even though Netflix is planning to remove all three Karate Kid movies from its library, there's another streaming service that will add the movies starting April 1. Hulu, a.k.a. Disney for adults, will add the first three Karate Kid movies for their subscribers to see. The only inconvenience in this scenario is that users won't be able to stream the best Karate Kid movies and its spin-off on one service, as Cobra Kai remains exclusively on Netflix because it's an original production.

If you're a Karate Kid fan,...

A Kung-Fu Classic With A High Rotten Tomatoes Score Changed Jason Statham's Life
Image
In "Snatch," things aren't looking good for bare-knuckle boxing promoter Turkish (Jason Statham) when he loses his fighter to an injury and wants to switch him out for "One Punch" Mickey O'Neil (Brad Pitt). The news doesn't go down well with violent pig-obsessed crime lord Brick Top (Alan Ford), who stands to lose a lot of money from the bets that've already been placed. "I don't care if he's Muhammad 'I'm hard' Bruce Lee. You can't change fighters!" he protests.

A British gangster movie might not seem the most obvious place for a reference to the martial arts movie legend that is Bruce Lee, but it just goes to show how the enduring legacy of the screen icon has infiltrated just about every corner of popular culture. He has also influenced a vast range of directors and actors like Statham, who has become a huge action star in his own...

20 Action Movies That Made Scott Adkins a Star
Image
Scott Adkins, trained in karate, capoeira, muay Thai, ninjitsu, wushu, krav maga, judo, kickboxing, kung fu, and among others, has been kicking and punching his way into action movies and Hollywood stardom since the early 2000s. The English actor studied under some of the best martial arts film choreographers in Hong Kong, including Corey Yuen and Jackie Chan, after not making it through the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Adkins has also proved his mettle as a supporting actor and stunt double in some high-profile Hollywood productions, not to mention being a producer and screenwriter for old-school-style action...

Cobra Kai Season 7 - Will It Ever Happen?
Image
For six seasons, "Cobra Kai" brought '80s nostalgia and absurd karate action to YouTube and then to Netflix, only to come to a climactic conclusion earlier this year with the end of "Cobra Kai" season 6. Netflix built up to the proper finale with plenty of fanfare, giving each character a proper send-off (some more explosive than others), and wrapping things up with a series of one-on-one world championship duels for the key characters.

It's rare in the streaming era that shows get to go out so decisively on their own terms, and yet, the show's popularity means that many fans are still hoping there could be a chance for "Cobra Kai" season 7. Is there really, though? Well, probably not -- at least, not under that name. The showrunners, stars, and Netflix itself have all made it clear that season 6 is the end, but they've also talked extensively about the...

‘Cobra Kai’ Team Teases Possible “Next” Addition To Netflix Hit; Ralph Macchio On “Push/Pull” Of Process – Contenders TV
Image
Cobra Kai brought back the stars of The Karate Kid, including Elisabeth Shue, and Season 4 even reintroduced Karate Kid III’s Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). So Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in 1994’s The Next Karate Kid, is the last big name on the table. On a panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television panel, co-creator Hayden Schlossberg teased Swank’s possible return. At least, there’s no other show that could cast her as Julie Pierce.

Contenders TV — Deadline’s Complete Coverage

“Anything is possible,” Schlossberg said. “I always say if you’re a fan of The Next Karate Kid and you want to see Julie Pierce who Hilary Swank played, we’re the show to watch to see if that happens. Season 5 is going to be coming out. It’s in the can. Anything is possible. Julie Pierce is one of the toys in the toy chest so we’ll see.
