A television station in Boston has shifted its primary network affiliation to Sinclair-owned comedy network Tbd.
The switch happened last Tuesday when Wrnn-owned Wmfp (Channel 61) replaced OnTV with Tbd. The change gave the Sinclair multicast network instant distribution on pay TV systems in the Boston metropolitan area, including standard definition and high definition carriage on Comcast (Xfinity), Verizon’s Fios TV, Charter (Spectrum) and Rcn. It also made Tbd available in the Boston area via Dish Network and DirecTV satellite, while Atlantic Broadband now carries the high definition feed of the channel. Previously, Tbd was offered on a digital sub-channel of CBS-owned Wsbk, which replaced it with programming from QVC.
Over the past few years, Sinclair has made significant investments in Tbd’s programming and brand identity, evolving it from a 24-hour network that showcased user generated video clips from YouTube and other platforms...

Back when prank shows like Punk’d and Just for Laughs Gags were a staple of American television, Ashton Kutcher took the risk of pulling some elaborate tricks on the pop icon Beyoncé, during her appearance on the MTV classic reality series in 2003. Leading her to believe that she had ruined Christmas for the kids, Kutcher had almost made the singer swell up.

Megalopolis was legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola's longtime passion project, which had been in the works for decades. Unfortunately, the movie flopped at the box office and was plagued not only with poor reviews but by a series of horror stories from the set.
In a new episode of her Good for You podcast, comedian Whitney Cummings added to the horror stories with her "humiliating" audition. Megalopolis starred a series of household names like Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Giancarlo Esposito, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman, and also a series of "canceled" actors like Shia Labeouf and Jon Voight, as the filmmaker wanted the film to avoid being "woke." Now, Cummings added to the multiple controversies.

Fox Corporation’s local broadcast television stations will be adding Sinclair’s comedy-centric multicast network Tbd in a handful of top TV markets, the companies announced on Tuesday.
Starting January 15, Fox-owned TV stations in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Phoenix will begin distributing Tbd on a digital sub-channel of their main network signal, making them available in closer proximity to a major network affiliate in five of the top 10 TV markets.
In two markets — Los Angeles and Chicago — Tbd will move from a Nexstar-owned CW Network affiliate, where they already had premiere reach. The realignment allows Sinclair to take advantage of Fox’s position in larger markets, securing the network’s placement in closer proximity to a “Big Four” network.

Ashton Kutcher’s public image has had a rough year due to his close friendships with and consistent support of convicted serial rapist Danny Masterson and alleged serial rapist P. Diddy, but not enough attention has been paid to the serious accusations against Kutcher himself — plagiarizing Wile E. Coyote’s work is no small transgression.
Guy Branum is an actor, stand-up comedian, comedy writer and producer who co-starred with Kutcher in the 2011 rom-com No Strings Attached and served as a segment producer for the ninth and final season of Punk’d. Those credits are important because, despite Branum’s hesitance to name any names in his recent viral TikTok captioned, “My Worst Hollywood Boss,” anyone with an internet connection and an Iq within 20 points of Kutcher could easily connect the dots and discover the culprit in Branum’s story about the funniest and dumbest prank idea pitched by a Diddy party co-host.

The world is on fire. Innocent people are dying. Hurricanes are ripping away homes. Fascism looms large. Parker Finn’s “Smile” movies don’t tackle our global anxieties directly but they do understand that seeing someone happy in the early 21st century is deeply disturbing. The only reason some could possibly have to smile this wide, to Finn’s way of thinking, is if they were a demon from hell.
The original “Smile” hit like a ton of bricks. The film starred Sosie Bacon as a therapist who witnesses a patient killing themselves while grinning ear to ear. She’s so disturbed by the incident that she starts seeing smilers everywhere, only to discover that it’s not in her head. She’s been cursed by a demon who feeds on anguish and drives people mad over the course of six days, before leaping to somebody else in another shocking act of violence.

Can anyone imagine being invited to work with an idol? That’s exactly what happened to J.J. Abrams, but it couldn’t have been worse timing. He had the chance to team up with Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise on War of the Worlds, but fate had other plans. To this day, he looks back on that moment with a ton of regret.

Fortunately for him, the tides turned, and his dream finally came true — not just with the director of E.T., but also with an actor who seemed genuinely impressed by him. Cruise’s invitation was nothing short of amazing, and it turned out to be the right move, as the production directed by Abrams ended up being the one that essentially saved one of the biggest action franchises out there.

Warning: Contains spoilers for the first episode of Scare Tactics (2024)
TV has brought audiences so many prank shows over the decades that it’s possible to name superlatives. Jackass: most violent. Betty White’s Off Their Rockers: most senior citizens. Punk’d: most celebrities. Jury Duty: most elaborate. The Magic Prank Show: most magical. USA’s Scare Tactics revival already had a premise baked in, but not only does it fail to be most horrifying; it also left me wondering whether entertainment has evolved beyond the need for new prank shows entirely.
Given that what made it to air never looked, let’s say, particularly cost-intensive, the Scare Tactics franchise — a hidden-camera show in which ordinary people are the marks for terrifying pranks with names like “Laboratory Meltdown” and “Orgy From Hell” — has gone through multiple eras and homes. Punk’d is back with new hosts, a new home, and a newfound focus on creators. The classic MTV prank show has been reimagined as Punk You, a YouTube series that will feature a cast of influencers, musicians, and other celebs.
The original version of Punk’d ran from 2003 to 2007, with actor Ashton Kutcher serving as the show’s host. There have been several attempts to bring back the show since then. The popularity of pranks on YouTube inspired brief revivals powered by talent on Vine and Quibi.
Punk You is quite different from those attempts, because instead of trying to find a replacement for Kutcher, the new show features rotating hosts from the creator community. Kutcher’s celebrity connections gave Punk’d star power in the 00s, and Punk You showrunners Sophie Watts and Joe White are betting that YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch stars can provide a similar vibe. Even before Sabrina Carpenter blew up and became one of Gen Z’s biggest stars, she was already making a name for herself with her early work. That’s how she slowly climbed to stardom and ended up as a target for famous pranks. The thing is, even though pranks like this are pretty common, sometimes people can go a little overboard.

Horror master himself, Jordan Peele, is rebooting the hilariously scary hidden-camera prank show Scare Tactics this fall for Halloween! 1428 Elm has learned that the USA Network officially greenlit a reimagining of the series from Peele and Monkeypaw Productions.
Released on Syfy in 2003, Scare Tactics started during an era where prank shows were all the rage, as this one debuted shortly after MTV's celebrity-centric series Punk'd. Produced by Scott Hallock and Kevin Healey, the series ran for five seasons between 2003 and 2013, featuring various hosts like Shannen Doherty, Stephen Baldwin, and Tracy Morgan. In 2017, Blumhouse announced its intentions to reboot the series, but that version seems to have stalled in development.
Each episode featured a different victim(s) facing some kind of scary prank, often constructed to emulate popular horror movie clichés, complete with all the special effects makeup and costumes one would expect from the genre. Episodes and prank segments...

Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard's on-screen chemistry shines through in Carvana commercials, balancing humor and authenticity effortlessly. The couple's work together extends beyond ads to films like When In Rome, Hit & Run, and CHiPS, showcasing their dynamic partnership. Bell and Shepard's mutual affection, genuine chemistry, and ability to balance comedy and drama make them a standout couple in entertainment.
I couldn't believe what I found out when looking up the Carvana commercial actors, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. Kristen Bell has charmed audiences with her roles in Veronica Mars and as the voice of Anna in Disney's Frozen. I love how her bubbly personality and quick wit shine through in everything she does. Bell's ability to connect with audiences makes her a standout performer who brings a touch of magic to every project she's involved in.

Back in the early 2000s, MTV had hit a stride with their prank show Punk'd. Hosted by Ashton Kutcher, the series followed Kutcher as he would set up his celebrity friends in wild and bizarre pranks. The fun of the show was watching how celebrities reacted to brazen acts, laughing with the audience along the way. Cut to 2011 when TruTV launched their own prank show, Impractical Jokers, but for real people. Presented by the Tenderloins, these four improv besties took on the world of real-life pranking, putting themselves right in the middle of the action. With 10 seasons under their belt, a movie, and a run on a wildly underrated game show called The Misery Index, Impractical Jokers is the perfect show to let loose and laugh. Because the quartet are friends and have an amazing rapport, the comedy comes naturally, and the antics are always hilarious. Impractical Jokers succeeds because...

Somewhat surprisingly, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher had never worked together before Netflix’s new rom-com “Your Place or Mine.”
“I had always wanted to make a romantic comedy with Reese,” Kutcher tells Variety over Zoom. “Like, always.”
Though both are icons of the genre who rose to fame in the early 2000s — Witherspoon captured hearts in “Legally Blonde” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” while Kutcher made audiences swoon in “Just Married” and “No Strings Attached” — the stars just didn’t align for them, until now.
In fact, Witherspoon and Kutcher had only really met one time before, at a party decades ago — in a meet cute that could’ve been scripted for one of their movies — though they have different stories of how it went down.
“He was carrying a little cooler,” Witherspoon recalls. “I was like, ‘Hey, what’s in the cooler, cooler guy?’ It was Red Bull. He...

Ashton Kutcher is returning to romantic comedies.
The actor hadn’t been in a rom-com since 2011 when he appeared in “New Year’s Eve” and starred opposite Natalie Portman in “No Strings Attached.” But 12 years later, Kutcher toplines the new Netflix smoocher “Your Place or Mine” with Reese Witherspoon.
“Honestly, I think I had more fun shooting this movie than I ever had,” Kutcher told me Thursday night at film’s premiere in Los Angeles. “It was genuinely a choice. I didn’t need to do it. I didn’t have to do it. It wasn’t like a career-building block. It was like, ‘I want to do this.’”
He gushed over working with Witherspoon. “I got to be in scenes across from a genuine movie star,” Kutcher said. “She’s such a movie star. It was so wonderful and fun and funny and light. There was never a dark day.

“We’re going to put 2022 behind us and focus on the future,” said Kathleen Finch, Chairman and Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Discovery’s U.S. Networks Group.
Speaking candidly during a Deadline-moderated keynote at the Realscreen conference in Austin, Texas, Finch opened up about the challenges and plans at the newly merged company.
“Going through a merger — and this was a humungous merger — is tough, it’s tough on the content creators, partners, staff, we’re a little ‘rear view mirroring it’ and we’re thrilled about what 2023 is,” she said. “Just now is when we’re able to put our strategy in place; last year was based on bringing two giant entities together.”
Finch talked about programming plans for its networks including the Turner networks, Discovery channels as well as the likes of HGTV and Food Network. She also discussed the recent restructure that led to the...

Ashton Kutcher and his twin brother Michael Kutcher have revealed some of the things that have caused them to have issues in their relationship over the years.
The actor is well known for his role as Michael Kelso on That ’70s Show, in which he starred with his now-wife, Mila Kunis.
He also hosted the prank TV show, Punk’d, as well as starring in films such as Guess Who, Just Married and a Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs.
However, during his rise as an actor in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Ashton had long been dealing with complicated feelings related to his twin brother, Michael.
Michael was born with cerebral palsy, a series of conditions that affect the brain and movement, while Ashton was not.
The brothers feature on a forthcoming episode of the Paramount Plus series The Checkup with Dr Agus, where Ashton admits to having difficulties acknowledging Michael’s health.

Actress Lisa Kudrow has been labelled ‘one of the worst humans’ on Earth by “The Hills” star Spencer Pratt.
Blasting the ‘Friends’ actress, 59, on TikTok, the 39-year-old was joined by TV personality Bethenny Frankel, 51, who also commented she had a “crazy experience” with Lisa when she appeared on her talk show, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Initially slamming Kudrow last week, Spencer then took to the social platform again to explain his remark. Kudrow approached him and his wife Heidi Montag, 35, at a party in 2009, and the actress claimed he had the “eyes of a serial killer” and would murder his partner, so the dad-of-one alleged.
He said: “It was almost like we were filming for ‘Punk’d’ and a camera was going to pop up, but Heidi and I didn’t care as there was delicious food and a open bar. As we were sitting there consuming a little caviar, Phoebe (Lisa) approaches,...

After serving as cinematographer on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” John Inwood is no stranger to the Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comedy style: dense with jokes and quick cuts to flashbacks, fantasies and parodies, and there was the occasional musical number. But “Girls5eva,” created by former “Kimmy” writer Meredith Scardino and produced by Fey and Carlock, took it to the next level, following the titular girl group that reunites 20 years later for another go.
“It’s a lot of fun with this show because we have a very good TV family that’s been working together for many years,” Inwood tells Gold Derby (watch above). “Season 1 was a lot of fun and very challenging. Every time you do a first season, you’re learning how to make the show, you’re defining what the style of the show and you get better and better at it.”
