People may be surprised to learn that staying out of the ocean won’t guarantee their safety from sharks. In fact, a dip in a river or pond could lead to an encounter with one of the most aggressive sharks in the world: the bull shark. Strangely enough, though, the Carcharhinus leucas doesn’t show up in sharksploitation movies anywhere near as much as its larger and more popular cousin, the great white. Many don’t even know of its existence until they hear of a sighting or attack in an unlikely place.
Jaws led to great whites becoming the face of shark horror. Of course, there are exceptions — Deep Blue Sea features bio-engineered mako sharks, and Syfy went through a period of unleashing one variety of mutant shark after another — yet as a whole, sharksploitation prefers great whites. Then in 2003, TBS Superstation mixed things up by having a bull...

Following the enormous critical and financial success in the local theaters, the release of “The Meg” in Chinese cinemas started a wave of similarly-produced creature features and animal-attack films to capitalize on its release. That has led to a steady stream of cheap, goofy creature features that remains popular churning out titles to this day which includes this one from 2021 that takes its influence from the Australian film “The Reef” from 2011 and “The Shallows” from 2017.

The first voice listeners hear on Some Rap Songs, Earl Sweatshirt’s latest album, is James Baldwin’s. “Imprecise words,” he says before the pop of vinyl hits. The sample comes from a 1962 recording of Baldwin’s “The Artist’s Struggle for Integrity” speech at New York City’s Community Church. In it, he explains his “distrust” for various words — “artist, integrity, warlike and integration” — pointing out that meaningless words can start to carry new weight over time.

It feels like it has been too long since Syfy has uncorked some new man-eating monster movies for us to sink our teeth into. That'll change come June when the network unleashes a pair of toothy monstrosities: Ice Road Terror and Swamp Shark. Syfy has posted a trio of bloody scenes from each monster mash.
The carnage begins on June 11th at 9/8 Central when Ice Road Terror reaches its destination on your television dial. Dylan Neal ("Dawson's Creek", "Blood Ties") and Brea Grant (Halloween II, "Heroes") star in this creature feature about Alaskan ice road truckers and a research analyst tangling with an unearthed prehistoric monster. The director (Terry Ingram) and writer (Keith Shaw) of Syfy's Phantom Racer reteam for this creature feature inspired by the popular reality series "Ice Road Truckers". Curiously, though, one thing you will not actually see in these clips is any actual ice road trucking.

*Full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Vci Entertainment.
Director: Frank De Felitta.
Writer: J. D. Feigelson.
Cast: Charles Durning, Tonya Crowe, Larry Drake, and Lane Smith.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow was originally released on television in 1981. Recently, Vci Entertainment released this title in a DVD format September 29th, 2010. This film has been repackaged with a commentary from director Frank De Felitta (The Entity) and writer J. D. Feigelson (Red Water). This reviewer remembers becoming paranoid of grain silos after watching this film and there is a reason that this title is considered a classic. Dark Night of the Scarecrow is rewatchable for creating some of the cliches of modern film. This title is also a reminder not to play around wood chippers!
If you are unfamiliar with this film, a mentally challenged adult (Larry Drake) is accused of killing a young girl (Tonya Crowe), in a small town.

What's up with all the b-movie mutant shark flicks of late? This year already gave us Dinoshark, and later in 2010 we get Sharktopus and Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus. Just yesterday I showed you the trailer for Super Shark Attack about a humongous land shark. Today brings us the trailer for Swamp Shark starring Kristy Swanson, Robert Davi, D.B. Sweeney, and shockingly, hard as it might be to believe, not Corin Nemec. Next stop, Syfy!
When I first brought word of Swamp Shark, it was still in pre-production under the title Jaws of the Mississippi. Today, just in time for the Discovery Channel's "Shark Week", is the first trailer for the imaginatively re-titled Swamp Shark.
In a small Louisiana town on the Atchafalaya Basin, a local drunk is found mangled to bits, his death blamed on the Broussard family’s pack of “escaped” alligators. But Rachel Broussard claims to have...

Georgia based group Rehab emerged on the scene in ‘07 with a powerful seasoning of southern rock flavorings that catapulted their underground single, “Bartender Song” into a cult hit. Spurred on by the rabid fan reaction, Rehab decided to re-record the song and add it to their sophomore album, Graffiti The World, along with an arsenal of new country-fried works that fans have described as “upbeat hip hop that goes for the head and the jugular”. Tracks include Bump, Chest Pain, Red Water, Graffiti the World, Last Tattoo, Bottles & Cans, We Live, This Town, Walk Away, This I Know and Running Out of Time. Graffiti The World available on iTunes now and in stores now.

NBC takes off with 'Angels' for McDougall
NBC has given the green light to its behind-the-scenes look at ABC's sexy 1970s action drama Charlie's Angels. Sugar & Spice director Francine McDougall has been tapped to direct Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels, which will focus on how Aaron Spelling's pop culture hit starring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith got off the ground and will chronicle its tumultuous first season. McDougall will direct the movie from a script by Matt Dorff (NBC's Growing Up Brady). Dorff and Michael G. Larkin (TNT's Red Water) will executive produce in association with Jaffe/Braunstein Films. The Charlie's Angels film follows the success of NBC's Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Three's Company, which was one of the top-rated original movies of the 2002-03 season in adults 18-49.
