    greatest game in the series!

MG 1 and 2 were good, mgs was great, mgs 2 was also good, but this game is truly the best one in the series... I really love the style it's presented in, even the endless cut-scenes that the mgs games are know for, are interesting all the time... I REALLY enjoyed playing through it, the new cameo system is also great, it makes it more tactical and stealthy...

the only little thing I think wasn't all that good was the healing wounds, I mean it's great at first, but going into the menu to heal yourself 10-20 times during a boss fight is quite boring and repetitive but everything else about it is just great, the story is exceptional and Naked Snake is a great character.

    I truly recommend it!

One of the best War Storylines I have ever seen and is my favorite MGS Title of all time

One of my favorite games on the PS2 ever. I have been a big fan of the Metal gear solid series ever since I played the First game back in 1999 as a child. I have gone out of my way to play every game in the series and most of them are great with a only a few being meh. MGS3 is easily my favorite game in the series and is in my top 5 games of all time. MGS1 was an awesome game and to this date it's my favorite PS1 game but This game was always the one I was most emotionally attached to. The gameplay is great and the controls are better then the first games. There's more to do in the game with more optional ways to take down enemies etc. The storyline is soo good and epic, The main character Big Boss is amazing. He felt more human then Solid Snake did and is also a badass. The games graphics, music, cutscenes, voice acting and ending are awesome too. The replay value in this game is also really high with the different outfits, face paints, bonus items, boss modes, and snake vs monkey which is a cool mini game that's based on the Ape Escape games. Overall this is the best game in the series for me since it's also a prequel to the entire Metal gear solid storyline and it being less cutscene heavy then the other games in the series. If you are newcomer I would jump straight to this game since you'll be able to follow the story more easily. this game is fantastic and should be played by every human being on the Planet. Hideo Kojima I salute you!

    revolutionary video gaming experience

Hideo Kojima never ceases to amaze me, besides the fact that Snake (A.K.A Big Boss) looks amazingly like Kurt Russell from "Escape From New York" in this game, the characters look and feel more realistic than anything ever attempted with video games. Since video games where invented they have been shrugged off by the other media's as inferior and childish, I have a feeling that that time is quickly coming to an end.

This game's story line had me more intrigued than I've been with any movie in a long time. The Music is spot on, the voice overs are flawless, the cinematics and action rival that of most modern films, and Yoji Shinkawa's art work is fresh and inventive. Kojima really has mastered the technique of "playing a movie" with this one.

The only real caution i can give is that the violence can get intense in area's, and the game play may be a little to in depth for newer gamers.

But if your ready to put some time and effort into it, this game is nothing short of the perfect experience.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the greatest modern accomplishments in gaming.

Hideo Kojima is possibly the most famous video game director currently living, and for good reason: his Metal Gear franchise has set a high-watermark for video game storytelling. He accomplished this with Metal Gear in 1987, and as recently as 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain his directorial skills STILL hold up wonderfully.

Kojima doesn't direct his games JUST like games: he treats them like movies that he loves and wants to give his all to every aspect of the project. Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the highlights of the Metal Gear series, not only because its prequel-oriented storytelling delivers surprises that doesn't make it feel like obligatory canon like George Lucas' Star Wars prequels, but also because the game is a period piece gaming hasn't done in such a way since its release. The 1960s Soviet Union in this game shows the wild aspects of the Union; but you still get the nuclear-influenced machinations going on behind the scenes: a genius move for the game serving the Cold War setting and the overall Metal Gear story.

Hideo Kojima has been hailed over the years for his wonderful directing gifts perfectly fitting his games, and Metal Gear Solid 3 once again drove the point home, and has continued to showcase the man's superpowers as a man defying the rest of fellow game-makers in the medium.

An Absolute Spectacle Among Games for Years to Come.

Tactical Espionage. Action. Emotion. Trust. Betrayal.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater takes you to a new level of gaming when you go back to where the start of an attention grasping, thrilling story-line begins.

An seemingly 'normal' mission for a Search and Rescue turns into a roller-coaster of mixed feelings for Naked Snake when he encounters his old mentor, and discovers sides are crossing, and the betrayal of trust is inevitable. Snake, by orders of the Government must go and hunt his old friend down, with the agenda of ending her life, but can he really go through with it? Are things really as they seem? Who is betraying who? With absolutely stunning graphics, and an incredibly mind and emotion grasping storyline of events, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is really a game of it's own kind. The game play is excellent and add a new sense of adventure to it, new weapons and new means of tactical espionage flow from the new system that surpasses any yet. Plus, it has excellent potential for replay value! Any fan of the Metal Gear Series, or even new ones can really appreciate this game, it's really one of a kind. Konami and Hideo Kojima outdid themselves yet again!

After the release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001), Hideo Kojima said that he would not direct this game. He wanted a member of his team at Konami to replace him, but none of them wanted to, so he was forced to change his mind and direct after all.
