Japanese animation studio Bones celebrates its 25th anniversary this year; in commemoration, Crunchyroll assembled the documentary "Bones 25: Dreaming Forward." Broken into four chapters each about the length of an anime episode, the doc features talking head interviews with Bones staff/industry peers highlighting the studio's history and most famous projects.
"Dreaming Forward" doesn't scratch far past the surface, but that's not because it lacks material. In its 25 years, Bones has produced many beloved anime series; its current hit "My Hero Academia" is one of the most popular in the world. Long before that, though, Bones broke out by adapting Hiromu Arakawa's steampunk-action manga "Fullmetal Alchemist."
Set during a fictionalized 20th century in the European-esque country Amestris, the manga centers on two alchemist brothers: Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric. When they were young children, the Elrics lost their mother, Trisha, so they tried to transmute her back to life.

The self-described "tech noir" anime Metallic Rouge has plenty of interesting ideas and creative staff behind it that makes it worth keeping an eye on. Its Blade Runner-esque premise, combined with Bones' excellent animation, promises a dark but stylish spectacle. With Crunchyroll already locked in to stream the anime, it's only a matter of waiting to see what it will deliver in terms of visuals and action.
Trailer footage and the description of the plot make Metallic Rouge look like a sci-fi classic blasting right out of the past. Bones itself is also hyping up the idea of a genre throwback, as the anime's website boasts of how the staff involved last teamed up 19 years ago for the cult classic mecha show RahXephon. Regardless, the story of an interplanetary manhunt should stand out among the season's offerings.

Studio Madhouse’s Racing Anime Redline has been around the net with several clips and trailers for some years now and also the following clip, the nice guys from Catsuka have found at youTube has been uploaded in January 2009, but that doesn’t make it any less amazing to watch.
Director Takeshi Koike (Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Animatrix) shows us some really freaky stuff and amazing animations that kinda make Redline look like the bastard offspring of Yogi’s Space Race, Speed Racer and Basquash! that has been begetted during a wild drug night! Can’t wait to see the full 90 minutes of this!
The script was written by Yoji Enokido (Flfc, RahXephon, Nge), Yoshiki Sakurai (GitS:sac, Moribito) and Katsuhito Ishii (The Taste of Tea, Funky Forest).
[See post to watch Flash video] According to Ann, Redline will be shown on the French Annecy Animation Festival in June, until more screenings will be announced we’ll...
