Young MacGyver

Young MacGyver misses the atmosphere of the original series.

I've been thinking about, why MacGyver hasn't had it's follow-up in the last 20 years. Then I found out this piece of wrongly connected shoelaces and gum. What is missing from the original atmosphere, is the voice-over, where MacGyver explains, what he was doing. As a child, I think I had a good understanding of physics and chemistry, before it got into my curriculum, and that made things a lot easier at school. Of course, times change, but I think one of the niches of the original, was that silent education, which was written in almost every episode.

The new, young, Clay MacGyver is supposed to be adept to take on the torch from his uncle, having all the similar advantages compared to Angus MacGyver. Only thing separating them from each other, would be that the younger version is a restless, loose cannon, with the attribute of making jokes, that none of the crew from Phoenix Foundation understands. It is a good thing, that this didn't went to production, but it gives hope, that MacGyver might rise again like a Phoenix.

I am glad they didn't put the show into production

For one thing, in Macgyver the original series he states

that he is an only child. So how is the world could he have a nephew??? I would hope that the people who want to put into production a Young Macgyver series would make it about Macgyver when he was younger and not a make believe Nephew he never had to begin with. I am sure that Richard Dean Anderson's memory of being one of the greatest TV icons known as Macgyver would never falter if a spin off was made. I hope and pray that A spin off of Macgyver is never made because they would be embarrassing themselves. If anything don't ruin a great show by making a spin off. I hope that in the near future everyone learns to appreciate great quality TV instead of getting into stupid shows like the bachelor and the bachelorette. These shows are demoralizing to the people who are in them and suck, but that is another matter completely.

Trying to Use a Nephew is Stupid

For true fans of the original MacGyver series, it was made clear and reiterated in several episodes that Mac was an only child. If I remember clearly, his mother was an only child also. At best he could have a distant cousin or great nephew on his dad's side as this side of his family was never introduced. His maternal grandfather is in several episodes. Mac believes that Harry was his last living relative until he finds out that he has a son just as the series ended.

I think a good follow up at this date is to see Mac back as possibly Pete's replacement with his son & grandson working together at Phoenix. I think this could be made into a workable series if they can get Richard Dean Anderson back, the actor that played his son, Sean "Sam" Malloy, Dalton James, a and a good writer.

Uncle MacGyver?

MacGyver could be an uncle, I was an Aunt around 13. My Dad was an uncle when he was born, his nephew was 10-16 years old. About not being said that MacGyver had siblings, this could be explained. His Father had a son, and then he meets his dad and he has a son. Or in their late teens Macgyver & his brother had a fight, and it took a long time before they made up. I wish I had a chance to of seen this show, I liked MacGyber a whole lot. If anyone else makes another MacGyver/nephew, maybe Richard Dean Anderson would help the show start up. He could make up with his brother, or have it where he has been living with his brother & nephew. Teaching his nephew by example, then MacGyver could retire. MacGyver could get married, or already married and find out they are going to be parents?
