One of the many great things about Arrow and its various sister series is that not only have they introduced us to more well known heroes like the Flash and Green Arrow himself, but they’ve also brought obscure characters such as the Elongated Man and Firestorm to the mainstream. But with the DC Universe being so expansive, there are obviously many others who’ve yet to join the party.
Of course, the two superheroes we’re discussing today have more so been on the wishlists of diehard comic book readers – or those who’ve seen them on one of several animated series – but we have to admit that they’d be fine additions to the Arrowverse, regardless.
To date, Booster Gold has been a stranger to the live action realm, barring a memorable guest role on Smallville. Though, in recent years, it’s been said that Warner Bros. have...

The sheer number of games in the Mega Man franchise is positively mind-boggling: the main-line series alone spans a total of 10 titles, but then there are the hand-held spin-offs, the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero lines, the 3D Mega Man Legends games, and dozens more besides.

In a quest to try and explain away a couple of weak episodes followed by an objectively terrible one, I tried to dig too far into the mechanics of the show to find a reason why the first part of the season was so rough. The answer was really simple. When the team is the butt of the joke, the show undercuts its reason for existence.

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are reportedly set to write and direct a movie based on the Mega Man videogame franchise.
This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter who state that 20th Century Fox's adaptation of Capcom's Mega Man is moving forward and will be helmed by the duo responsible for the documentary Catfish, the underrated Nerve, as well as found footage horror films Paranormal Activity 3 & 4. At this time, it's not clear whether the two will share writing and directing duties or splitting creative roles.
Fox has reportedly tried to acquire the rights to the Mega Man franchise for years now and finally secured them earlier this year. Reports suggest that the studio has brought in Peter Chernin, Mike Ireland, and Ryan Harrigan to produce the movie.

Adrian Chase is on a mission to destroy Oliver Queen, but will he be able to do so with his name all over the media?
That was the question presented to viewers at the close of Arrow Season 5 Episode 18.
Below, TV Fanatics Robin Harry, Kathleen Wiedel, Steve Ford and Jim Garner discuss Oliver bringing Anatoly in to fight, Adrian evading the law and Katie Cassidy's return to the series as Black Siren.
What did you think of Oliver turning to Anatoly?
Robin: It was a terrible decision; no good could ever come from the Mayor doing deals with the Russian Mafia (or any mafia). That said, I understand the context of the decision, how broken Oliver was.
He came out of that encounter with Prometheus feeling like a soulless monster, unsure of his own conscience. So it makes sense that he would do things in contempt of his own morality.

Following X-Men: Apocalypse, where is the broader X-Men universe across films, TV and comics?
For much of the 80s and 90s, the X-Men were Marvel’s #1 franchise, propelled to greatness by top-flight creators like Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Louise Simonson and Jim Lee. By 1997, one single X-Men title (Uncanny X-Men) had grown into a family of 8 books – Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, Wolverine, X-Force, X-Factor, Cable, Generation X and Excalibur – and it’s no surprise that X-Men became one of Marvel’s first blockbuster movies, in 2001.
But times change. Claremont, the architect of the X-Men’s success and the man who developed many of the franchise’s greatest stories, has recently spoken about how the X-Men’s gradual decline has “nothing to do with comic sales [and] everything to do with the fact that the film rights are controlled by a rival corporation.”
But is he correct? And if so,...

While your experience may differ, the amount of remasters and collections we have seen in this generation of consoles has always been a point of contention and subject of conversation, at least in my group of friends and peers. I myself go back and forth on this topic all the time. For one, I would like to see companies allocating more resources towards newer games, rather than simply rehashing older titles, many of which I have in my personal collection. On the other hand, a few of these remasters and re-releases are notable for making it much easier to actually get your hands on certain games (Grim Fandango Remastered comes to mind). Furthermore, some of these titles are merely meant to tide us over until a new entry in a series releases, such as the newly released Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or the upcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

If there's one thing multiplayer gaming is synonymous with, it's trolls. Swearing, racist, homophobic insults are part and parcel of the competitive multiplayer experience, while even profanity-laden uploaded gameplay recordings are becoming subject to it.
Microsoft is now taking to task the people who do the latter. The Verge reports that Ms has been temporarily banning Xbox One users after they allegedly uploaded videos laced with excessive profanity.
The new console uses a software to upload game recordings called Upload Studio. In a statement, Microsoft says that profanity in these videos violates the code of conduct for its Xbox Live service:

Nintendo doesn’t want to risk being overlooked during November’s big, next generation console launches, so it’s decided to release two of its heavy (albeit portable) hitters during the latter portion of the chilly month. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour, to be exact. Both games will apparently launch on the same day (November 22), and will carry traditional $39.99 price tags.
If you’re wondering about Mario Party: Island Tour, it’s the same game that was announced back in April, during one of Nintendo’s Direct livestreams. At that time, it was known simply as Mario Party, but a subtitle has since been added. As a result, it’s probably safe to suggest that the game’s seven boards and Augmented Reality minigames will be tropical-themed.

Beyoncé Knowles was shocked to get a surprise smooch from a very big fan in the middle of her Philadelphia concert on Thursday night - her husband Jay Z ran out on stage, threw his arms around her, and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before disappearing behind the band. Beyoncé seemed taken aback by the sudden Pda, even as the audience and her dancers cheered and laughed. She later posted photos of the hilarious incident on her blog, and a fan video of the sweet moment popped up on YouTube. Beyoncé is well into the first Us leg of her Mrs. Carter World Tour, but is also making time to hang with family and friends. She kept a low-profile while attending Jay's Legends of the Summer show in NYC last week, and was able to enjoy some downtime in Miami with daughter Blue Ivy earlier this month.

The news comes just days after Beyoncé canceled a show in Belgium, though she later apologized to fans and returned to the stage on Wednesday. Beyoncé may be pregnant with baby number two! Rumors popped up over the weekend that Beyoncé and Jay-z are expecting their second child together roughly 15 months after welcoming Blue Ivy into the world. Now, People magazine reports that the singer is planning on having another child, but it might not happen just yet. A source told the magazine, "Beyoncé and Jay are planning for another baby after her tour is over and things calm down just a bit." Both Beyoncé and Jay-z will be busy through the end of Summer with two big tours. She is currently in the middle of her Mrs. Carter Show world tour,...

Jay-z and Beyoncé Knowles took their daughter, Blue Ivy, out to lunch at Paris's Septime restaurant today. Blue wore a "Pump Up the Volume" t-shirt and denim leggings for the outing, during which she got lots of love from dad Jay-z. The family of three is in France for Beyoncé's Mrs. Carter Show tour, with Beyoncé taking the stage for performances both last night and this evening. She'll then head to the UK for multiple dates before landing in North America at the end of June. It's been a whirlwind few weeks for Beyoncé, who debuted new music today in an H&M ad. The commercial features Beyoncé in a bikini and reveals her latest track, "Standing on the Sun." She hasn't performed the new song on tour, but we may get more new music in the coming months since she's reportedly working on an album that will be released later this year.

Poor Mega Man, he can't seem to catch a break, and despite generating some heat a few years back with the excellent retro love letter of "Mega Man 9" (and 10), Capcom has done nothing to appease diehard fans of the Blue Bomber. Cancellation after cancellation of future projects such as "Mega Man Legends 3" and "Mega Man Online" provided a bleak outlook and hopes were dashed when Keiji Inafune, the Irl Dr. Light, departed Capcom. In another twist, Polygon has uncovered one more shuttered project to reignite the flailing franchise.
Their in-depth article about Armature Studios' Mega Man X reboot codenamed "Maverick Hunter" is a virtual window into something that could have been. As a developer that spawned from Retro Studios, there are more than a few connections to the fantastic "Metroid Prime" - a game which proved that you could convert a traditional side-scrolling platformer into a first person shooter. Similarly,...

Jay-z has hired a cigar maker for his tour. The rapper - who has 14-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, with his wife Beyoncé - asked a cigar expert he met at a party to accompany him and Justin Timberlake to every venue of their joint Legends Of The Summer world tour. A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Jay met this cigar expert at a friend's private party recently. He had been hired to roll cigars for guests in a smoking room. 'They were chatting for ages about the origins of tobacco and all the different types and then Jay-z offered to have him on board for the tour dates. It goes well with the nature of the tour where there's...

“The Blue Barracudas always won,” insisted some deluded college friends of mine, as we browsed through this amazing website looking for our favorite team’s T-shirt. “It was the Silver Snakes, you guys. The numbers don’t lie,” I would typically reply.
You see, long before The Hunger Games made the spectacle of sending teams of children into an arena filled with deadly, dangerous obstacles fun again, us ’90s kids were getting our daily dose of televised youth blood sport on Nickelodeon via the Indiana Jones-inspired Legends of the Hidden Temple. I’ve had a very strange feeling the last few months.
I’m not talking about that feeling you get when you think that history isn’t going along the right path and that you’re living in an alternate universe where people you know and love have changed– I’ve had that feeling since December 12, 2000.
No, I’m talking about how everybody in comics is talking about Flashpoint and a changed comics universe. Because twenty-five years ago, that’s what Flashpoint meant to me– and meant to a lot of other comics fans on Long Island.
In the summer of 1986 at 106 West Broadway, Port Jefferson, NY, Flashpoint was a comic book shop with a bit of a sideline in science fiction and robots. It was arguably the best store on the island. Yes, there was Port Comics down in Medford which Brevoort swore by, and the Batcave in Bay Shore,...

[1] Despite the flurry [2] of [3] attention [4] that Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch received from sites like ours upon its opening last weekend, the film so far has been a commercial disappointment. Sucker Punch fell short of its projections when it opened last weekend, losing first place at the box office to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Its $19M opening weekend gross was Snyder's second-worst to date -- his worst being last fall's Legends of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, which grossed $16M. (All figures come from Box Office Mojo [5].) And at a mere 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, Sucker Punch has proved to be a critical flop as well. But there's still a large chunk of that $82M budget needs to be earned back, and in an effort to draw in moviegoers for the film's second weekend, Warner Bros. has posted the first six minutes of Sucker Punch online. Watch it after the jump.

The highly-anticipated Geoff Johns episode of Smallville will soon be upon us. Fortunately, fans of the series won’t have to wait a month to see what Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will look like in the April 22 episode, because the first image of these two DC Legends has just been released.
Donning a wonderfully created interpretation of DC’s iconic outfits that many fans will remember from the comics (see below), Jaren Brandt Bartlett and Eric Martsolf have been beautifully transformed into Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, respectively. (Perhaps NBC should have taken some notes before creating the Wonder Woman costume.)
If a photo alone is not enough to get you excited about the upcoming Smallville episode, entitled “Booster,” Geoff Johns and Mr. Booster Gold himself, Eric Martsolf, sat down with TV Guide ...

Director Zack Snyder’s back with the action fantasy, Sucker Punch. But can it offer more than the eye candy we’ve seen in its trailers? Here’s our review...
With Dawn Of The Dead and 300, Zack Snyder established himself as a skilful director of effects-laden action blockbusters. And after the tepid performance of Watchmen and his family-friendly owl project, Legends Of The Guardians, Snyder brings us his magnum opus, Sucker Punch, a sprawling action fantasy with an ensemble female cast and eye-bulging special effects.
Sucker Punch opens with a flurry of high-octane editing, and rarely lets up for two hours. We’re introduced to youthful, blonde heroine Baby Doll (Emily Browning) who accidentally shoots her younger sister while attempting to fend off the advances of her disgusting stepfather.
Packed off to a home for the criminally insane, Baby Doll faces a gloomy fate: a lobotomy and further abuse from the home’s boss,...

For the past 20 years Batman has enjoyed a tradition of excellence in animation. Does Cartoon Network's most recent Batman cartoon live up to the legacy?
The Set-up
In this latest cartoon starring the Caped Crusader, each episode shows Batman teaming up with a more obscure DC Comics hero and fights to thwart the efforts of a more obscure DC Comics villain. This is the show's real hook: it's an exploration of the under-utilized areas of the DC universe with Batman acting as tour guide.
The show's extremely different from both the 2000's era series The Batman, and the excellent '90s era series Batman: The Animated Series (as well as that show's decendants, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, The Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited). Unlike those shows, this one takes itself a lot less seriously. Gone are the dark red skies and inky black shadows; Batman: The Brave and the Bold...

There's always room for a smart-mouthed high-school comedy in a Juno/Mean Girls vein – it's just a pity they come along so rarely. This doesn't quite make that grade but it aims for it, tackling issues of virginity and sluttishness through the story of a nice girl who lies about who she's laid and suffers the fallout – especially from the Jesus freaks.

The life of the terrorist serves as a thrilling survey of cold war-era geopolitics in Assayas's swift, stylish, serious biopic, which covers a staggering amount of ground. See feature, p10.
Red (12A)
(Robert Schwentke, 2010, Us) Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren. 111 mins
Senior-citizen assassin comedy that gets away with a lot thanks to its cast. As a ride, it's more stairmaster than a rollercoaster.
(Will Gluck, 2010, Us) Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Patricia Clarkson. 92 mins

Chicago – If you think that most of the music games in the most impressive new genre of the last several years have been nothing more than expensive expansion packs then I doubt that “Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock” is really going to change your mind. The game is far from a drastic leap forward from what fans have already experienced but there are enough quality refinements and enjoyable tunes that it delivers what you should expect when judged on its own terms.
Video Game Rating: 3.5/5.0
The “Guitar Hero” franchise is one of the more oddly inconsistent ones of the last decade. After the series truly took off with “Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock,” Activision began a near-onslaught of releases and not all of them worked. “Guitar Hero: World Tour” and “Guitar Hero 5” had their problems while “Guitar Hero: Van Halen” is simply a disaster (“Guitar Hero: Metallica” remains easily...

At this year’s ShoWest, I was able to participate in a roundtable interview with director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and his producing partner (and wife) Debbie Snyder for their upcoming animated movie Legend of the Guardians. The movie is being done by the same company that did Happy Feet and it’s based on the Guardians of Ga’Hoole children’s novels. If you haven’t seen the awesome trailer, watch it here.
During the interview they talked about why they wanted to make the movie, how they’ve been working on it since before Watchmen, how many “Zack Snyder shots” can we expect, how they did the 3D, and, of course, we also talked about his next live-action movie Sucker Punch and what can fans expect at Comic-Con. Hint: our first look at Sucker Punch!
If you’re a fan of Zack Snyder, you’ll love the interview. As always,...

Despite the eco-friendly cardboard centerpieces, the ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria, with its velvet draperies and glittering chandeliers was an uncomfortably swanky venue for the annual Aiga Design Legends gala in a year when the ripples from the financial mayhem on Wall St. had wreaked such economic turmoil throughout the industry
So Aiga president Debbie Millman, in a little black dress and long white gloves, addressed the issue straight up: "The guy who created my fabulous up-do asked me, 'Do people really have events like these anymore? In this economy?'"
Noting that the room had been booked long before last fall's market meltdown, Millman acknowledged the unease the space created, given the general state of the economy. "Not to be a buzzkill," she said, "but 86% of industries said they had cut back over the past year, the most in 42 years. Every state has reported upticks in unemployment." So, she asked,...

Chicago – How do you judge a game like “Guitar Hero: Smash Hits”? Like a greatest hits collection for a respected artist, the actual content of the title is sure to give fans what they’re looking for with hours of entertainment. Only when you look deeper at the decisions made in the production of the game and the delivery of its content does “Smash Hits” begin to frustrate.
Video Game Rating: 3.5/5.0 To tide fans over between the great “Guitar Hero: Metallica” and the anticipated “Guitar Hero 5,” Activision and Beenox Studios went back and remastered some of the best tracks from their first five games - “Guitar Hero,” “Guitar Hero II,” “Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the ’80s,” “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock,” and “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith”. All of the 48 chosen ones have been remastered for the entire band approach that started with “Guitar Hero: World Tour”.
