Though she was already one by then, the first time I met Rani Mukherjee, I couldn’t believe she was a star. Short and pretty plain, she walked into my then-good friend Akshay Kumar’s makeup room to say hello. They were both shooting in the same studio on adjoining sets…he for Khiladi 420 and she for Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega .

Akshay and I were having lunch with some friends when the door opened. Rani walked in wearing clothes that depict a typical party sequence in our films and heels so high they looked like stilts!

Rani, being Rani, shook hands with everyone in the room with a democratic smile and saved a special smile and a hug for the hero in the room.

Bartees Strange is back with a new single: “Lie 95,” which arrives today along with a dreamlike music video.

Actress Rani Mukerji, who celebrated 25 years of her cult movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, shared that her co-star Shah Rukh Khan has taught her to romance. She also revealed that she was nervous about the audience accepting Rahul (Srk) falling in love with her character Tina. Rani attended the special screening of the movie, along with director Karan Johar and Srk.

Talking about Srk, the ‘Chalte Chalte’ fame actress said: “Srk taught me how to romance. So when Srk says let the young people do the romance, I don’t think anyone can do the romance like him.”

She further said: “I started doing the films when I was 17 years old, and it just feels amazing that I have a daughter who is going to turn eight in December. So it’s exactly like how my daughter was in this film.” Rani referred to Sana Saeed, who played Anjali Khanna in the romantic drama.

Jatin Pandit, one half of the now-disbanded composer duo Jatin-Lalit, releases his first non-film single, "Dhadakte rehna" on Friday. The video of the song, incidentally, stars his son Raahul Jatin.

"My son Raahul Jatin heard the composition and loved it. The song started growing on us, that's when Raahul suggested that I should record this and release it as an independent single," says Jatin.

The romantic ballad is composed, sung and penned by Jatin Pandit. The music video, featuring Raahul with Jessica Lopez, is directed by Harper Gahunia and is shot in California, US.

"I was waiting for some people to join me in my studio, (so) I just picked my guitar and this hook line started flowing through me. I instantly recorded the tune and completely enjoyed creating it," Jatin adds.

"I'm glad that all aspects worked out in spite of the Covid situation, and now we are going to release it.

Veteran actor-filmmaker Vishal Anand has passed away in the city after prolonged illness. He was 82.

Anand died on Sunday, and the news of his demise was confirmed on Monday by trade analyst Girish Johar.

Nephew of legendary actor Dev Anand, Bhishm Kohli was known by his stage name Vishal Anand. He was seen in films such as "Chalte Chalte" (1976), "Taxi Driver" (1973) and "Dil Se Mile Dil" (1978). Veejay-actor Purab Kohli is his nephew.

Vishal Anand is best recalled as the actor on whom the Kishore Kumar classics "Chalte chalte mere yeh geet yaad rakhna" ("Chalte Chalte") and "Yeh naina yeh kaajal" ("Dil Se Mile Dil") were picturuised. Both these immortal songs were composed by Bappi Lahiri and written by Amit Khanna.

In December last year we saw the release of the Rohit Shetty directed film Dilwale featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The film which was produced by Red Chillies and Rohit Shetty Productions, despite featuring a star studded cast and insane promotions did not perform as expected at the box office. However, now months after its release we hear that Shah Rukh Khan, whose production Red Chillies took over the distribution of the film in India has decided to refund the individual distributors to a certain extent for the losses incurred.

In fact back in 2001 and 2005, Shah Rukh Khan had refunded the individual distributors of his films Asoka (Eros) and Paheli (Utv), after both films underperformed at the box office. As a direct result of the actor's 2001 film Asoka underperforming at the box office, Shah Rukh's subsequent release Chalte Chalte was sold for a much lower price.

Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd and Rohit Shetty Productions unveiled the trailer of their upcoming film Dilwale in Mumbai along with fans and media. Mumbai, Aug 10: Popular singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has sung several songs for superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has now lent his voice to Bollywood's young hearthrob Ranbir Kapoor in "Besharam". He says he doesn't sing for the old crop of actors now because his voice is as young as ever.

"I always sing for newcomers. My voice is so young. When Shah Rukh was young, I sang for him and now Ranbir is young, so I will sing for him," Abhijeet said here in an interview.

BBC Asian Network listeners from across the globe have bestowed the accolade of greatest Bollywood song of all time upon ‘Baharon Phool Barsao’ from the hit 1966 film Suraj – as revealed by Tommy Sandhu in a special programme on Monday evening (May 27).

As part of the BBC Asian Network’s season of programming to celebrate 100 years of Bollywood, a team including presenters and producers, as well as Bollywood experts, shortlisted 100 songs from the World of Hindi Cinema released between 1940 – 2010, and asked listeners to vote for the nation’s favourite Bollywood song.

The panel compiling the 100 songs included Asian Network presenters, Raj and Pablo and Noreen Khan, British Indian rapper and hip-hop singer, Hard Kaur, Bollywood film expert, Dr Rajinder Dudrah and Indian film critic and entertainment reporter, Rajeev Masand.
