Quentino Tarantino recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of his immense directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs. Tying in nicely with that anniversary is Tarantino Xx, a new eight-film Blu-ray collection that hits shelves in the UK today.
The box set includes all seven of the films Tarantino has directed to date (not counting the upcoming and highly anticipated Django Unchained, of course), with a brilliant addition in True Romance, which Tarantino wrote and the late Tony Scott directed.
With the box set coming out on Blu-ray today, we’ve got a great new featurette with Robert Rodriguez, with whom Tarantino has worked with many times over the years.
Included in the collection, Tarantino Xx, in chronological order, are:
Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vols. I and II, Death Proof, and Inglourious Basterds.

In anticipation of the release of Tarantino Xx: 8-film Collection on Blu-ray this November 20th, 2012, check out the full interior artwork created by Mondo artist Ken Taylor. Stylistic, bold and unique, Ken Taylor add the same artistic flair to this boxed set as he has for so many of his Mondo poster designs, including this amazing poster for Drive (2011) amongst others. A fitting addition to a boxed set already so highly anticipated it could literally make some film buffs’ heads actually explode. For many, this may be a rare opportunity to own some Mondo art, even if mass produced, as original Mondo prints typically sell out within minutes, if not seconds. For many, it’s been a long wait as we’ve watched various Blu-ray editions of Tarantino films pop up in other countries, but not in the United States… ’till now. Tarantino + Blu-ray + Mondo = a very happy fan of cool cinema!

Whether you love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker that has definitely changed the language of cinema. Factor in that for the most part, Tarantino has directed all of his films via one company also makes it easier for a company like Lionsgate to publish a collection of his films celebrating his existence in film. Lionsgate will be re-releasing his 8 groundbreaking films on Blu-Ray in one very attractive set featuring a cover by Mondo by Ken Taylor. While this is definitely a double dip for some if not all Blu-Ray collectors, the fact that it is all in one package should attract you to make a purchase in the 8 film collection. I’m even missing some of his films on Blu-Ray so this set is still worth it to me. Read below for the press release.

Pulp Fiction arrived on Blu-ray on October 4th and I have been mesmerized by the disc ever since. This is my second favorite film by Quentin Tarantino ( my favorite being Inglorious Basterds) and the Blu-ray looks amazing. This movie has impacted the way I watch movies. I remember seeing this movie on the late showing on a school night, which was not the best thing to do because I spent the rest of the night discussing it with friend and smoking cigarettes. My high school mind was not prepared for Tarantino’s dialogue or non-linear storytelling. My mind was simply blown.

Chicago – I’m old enough dear readers to vividly remember Quentin Tarantino’s premiere with “Reservoir Dogs” and then how much he took the world by storm with “Pulp Fiction,” a common choice for the best film of the ’90s. At the time, “Jackie Brown” seemed like a disappointment by comparison (how could it not?), but it is now widely respected and even beloved. These aren’t just good movies — they’re classics of their time. What more do you want from a pair of Blu-rays?
The fact that Lionsgate bought out the library of Miramax for Blu-ray release has led to an onslaught of some of the best movies of their day in the last few months including “Amelie,” “Trainspotting,” “Swingers,” and more. Perhaps the best pair of releases of this entire collection came last week with the one-two punch of “Pulp Fiction” and “Jackie Brown,” two five-star films...

Pulp Fiction Blu-Ray Lionsgate Home Entertainment 1994/Rated R/154 mins List Price: $19.99 – Available October 4, 2011 Pulp Fiction was one of those event films you could feel coming months before it hit theaters. I remember greatly anticipating its debut for the summer of 1994 only to hear Quentin Tarantino's second feature had been pushed back to Fall after it won the Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It began to generate incredible buzz after audiences were amazed at the kind of beautifully structured collage of stories and images that unspooled before them. Us audiences were equally engrossed, as the film caused debate and controversy, with word-of-mouth rocketing the 8 million dollar production past the 100 million mark. In addition, the picture gave a huge kick to the careers of John Travolta and many others. The film stars John Travolta as Vincent Vega, a hitman who we first see working with his partner Jules (Samuel L. Jackson...

Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are arriving on Blu-ray on October 4th. Pulp Fiction was one of my most mind-blowing experiences at the theater. I went into the film blind, not knowing what the film was truly about, and left the theater on a cloud of awesomeness. I had yet to see Reservoir Dogs, and was not familiar with Quentin Tarantino until this movie (even though I had seen a number of films he wrote). Jackie Brown may not be the phenomenon that Pulp Fiction was, but it is still an amazing film with great characters. I was very happy to hear that both of these cinematic gems were getting the Blu-ray treatment.
The discs have some great features, which you can check out below. Here is the Blu-ray trailer for Jackie Brown:
