Could have been better

I'm a huge fan of LoG, so naturally I wanted to check out this DVD. As in the series, this DVD shows the extraordinary talent of the three actors portraying all those different roles so flawlessly and full of humor.

Sadly, the added value of watching this live show is quite small - a large part of the sketches are exactly the same as in the TV-series, which I've seen many times. This is compensated by some good new stuff (The German teacher thing is very funny - though the poor audience member involved will think differently I guess :)

This show isn't bad, but could have been much better if they'd used more new material.

Very talented people, very funny show!

This is only for TLOG fans.....anyone who has never seen the series would just sit there open mouthed wondering what on earth it's all about! These guys are so talented that after watching their live performance you realise how well rehearsed this show was, and the amount of hard work they put into it. It's all very dark and surreal, but fantastically acted and hysterical. But I strongly advise anyone to watch the 3 TV series BEFORE they watch this....otherwise it would just freak them out! Great Stuff!

Something for everyone

The live show has a combination of classic sketches from the series and, new sketches with old characters, and new sketches with new characters. All of the favourites make an appearance, Tubbs and Edward, Pauline, Geoff, Herr Lipp, Bernice, papa lazarou and the Dentons.

The new sketches are brilliant, especially the sketch called 'Scott', which I imagine was omitted from the series because it wouldn't fit in the world that is Roysten Vasey. Herr Lipp with his many innuendos,is absolutely hilarious, but i'm sure the poor audience member won't say so! The gents are on top form, especially Reece Shearsmith, who is very much a physical actor. He is especially brilliant as Papa Lazarou.

live at Drury lane is a fantastic sketch show that I would recommend to any League of Gentlemen fan.

Slapstick, pantomime, stand up, camp, farce, black and surreal comedy all rolled into one fabulous show.

Extremely hilarious, The League of Gentlemen live surprised me :)

This is a DVD/Video for any League fan. Strange scenes, twisted and dark... this is The League of Gentlemen Live.

The best thing about this show is that the actors do not dress up (well they do for some scenes but for most they do not bother), and it makes no difference due to their brilliant acting skills. The facial expressions make what the character is in this show.

The guys did a brilliant show here, it must have taken alot of practice doing sketch after sketch after sketch.

You see a variety of your basic League sketches (Papa Lazerou, Go Johnny Go Go Go, Pauline and Kathy Carter Smith, Tubbs and Edward) along with your new sketches that were made specifically for the Live show (Les McQueen performing his new hit single "Tie Wakka Wakka Pumpkin Face" from his album "Moods", The "Fag Hag" Tish, and Legz Akimbo's performance of the play "Scumbellina" - a play about a young girl living in the north).

A great laugh, but only really for the League Fan.
