Today, Prime Video dropped the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, and it was a doozy. "The Road to the Spear" tightened its focus on Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the prophesied hero known as the Dragon Reborn, following his footsteps through the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean. As Rand passed through a forest of glass columns, he was transported back in time to relive key moments in the lives of his blood ancestors. It was a stunningly beautiful hour of television.
If you enjoyed it like we did, you're probably champing at the bit for the next episode. After all, as good as Rhuidean was, it didn't feature many important cast members like Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Dónal Finn) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins). What are they all getting up to while Rand is on his trippy vision quest?
We'll find out in The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 5, which is titled "Tel'aran'rhiod.

Snow White is releasing amidst controversy.
All of Disney’s live-action adaptations ruffle some feathers. Usually, it’s a discussion about art or copyright.
Starring Rachel Zegler as the titular fairy tale princess and Gal Gadot as the Queen, this adaptation will once again retell a Brothers Grimm classic.
Adaptations can often be polarizing. But the controversy surrounding this Snow White has little to do with the story.

Sometimes, discussing a controversy means delving into the heart of a complex issue, or questioning whether we can separate a piece of media from a horrible person who is a part of it. Both of those do come up when discussing this film.
But in this case, the first “controversy” about Snow White is neither.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 Episode 4 Gives Rand the Spotlight That He Has Deserved for Three Seasons
You know, it could be me, but The Wheel of Time’s Moiraine might need to worry about Lanfear. Maybe it’s just paranoia, but there’s a good chance the Aes Sedai is headed for trouble with The Forsaken.
After kicking things off with a literal bang, the series has not wasted time throwing the characters into one adventure after another with enough action to keep sci-fi enthusiasts foaming at the mouth.
This episode, in particular, helped to expand so many aspects of The Wheel of Time, from the history of the current dragon to the lore surrounding the different ages.
(Prime/Screenshot)
More than anything, though, “The Road to the Spear” showed the clear inspirations drawn from recent hits with other fantasy and science fiction franchises.

Season 3, episode 4 of The Wheel of Time focuses solely on the Aiel Waste group. Specifically Rand and Moiraine. For non-book readers (such as myself), the episode feels like a bit of an overdose of information because it basically gives us a history of Rand and Aiel in general. It’s a complicated episode that is hard to understand without prior knowledge of the lore. Or at least that’s how I felt. But, here we are trying to comprehend everything that went down in this episode. This episode brings us to Rhuidean, an Aiel city surrounded by wasteland. The Wise One’s prophecy about the Car’a’carn is also known as the Prophecy of Rhuidean. It seems this is almost an abandoned city, but only certain Aiel can go there, including those who get permission from the Wise Ones. In Rhuidean, there are many Ter’angreal (objects of the...

True crime has long captivated audiences, but rarely has it been told through the eyes of those left to deal with the consequences.
Happy Face, the new Paramount+ series, breaks the mold by shifting the focus from the killer to his family — most notably, his daughter, Melissa Moore. The series dramatizes Melissa’s struggle to reclaim her identity from the shadow of her father, serial killer Keith Jesperson, played by Dennis Quaid.
Featuring a stellar cast and guided by Melissa herself, Happy Face offers a deeply personal and unprecedented look at the far-reaching impact of violent crime.

It’s been a difficult few years for fans of teen-focused TV, particularly on streaming platforms.
Many shows have been unceremoniously canceled as media conglomerates have curbed their spending after a neverending array of shows got pickups.
School Spirits arrived in 2023 and immediately struck a chord with me — and many other viewers — due to its compelling hook.

Ghost stories have been prevalent on the small screen for many years, but Paramount+ hit the big time with the show for its portrayal of a purgatory-like setting for a group of students who died at Split River High School.

The third season of The Wheel of Time, an adaptation of Robert Jordan's beloved epic fantasy books, is off and running on Prime Video, and so far, it's crushing it. Hopefully, the season is successful enough that Prime Video renews the show for more seasons, and fans will get to watch the whole story play out.
In the meanwhile, Wheel of Time spinoffs are bubbling in the background. We heard a while back that someone was trying to get a live-action trilogy of prequel movies off the ground; the first movie, The Age of Legends, is set to be directed by Kari Skogland, who previously worked on shows like The Walking Dead and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.
Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.
Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

It’s safe to say that Amazon Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has finally hit its stride. The first three episodes of its highly anticipated third season have finally hit screens across the world, and immediately raise the stakes for Rand al’ Thor and Co. with threats coming at them from a multitude of directions.
With more of the Forsaken making their on-screen debut while each of the Two River’s former citizens faces struggles of their own, there is a lot to like in The Wheel of Time’s deft weaving of the Pattern established in Robert Jordan’s elaborately written series of fantasy novels.

The second season of The Wheel of Time ended with the Battle of Falme, where Rand and his friends defeated the Forsaken sorcerer Ishamael while the invading Seanchan army was driven back in the city below. At the end, Rand is proclaimed the Dragon Reborn for all to see.
The battle roughly plays out more or less like it does in The Great Hunt, the second book in Robert Jordan's massive Wheel of Time series. But there are differences. For one thing, in the book, when Rand fights Ishamael, their forms are projected into the sky above the city, so all can see their battle. That may have been a bit grand for the show and I don't think many fans thought too much about it being cut. Still, it's a cool and it's a shame that it didn't show up onscreen.

Editor's note: The below interview contains spoilers for The Wheel of Time Season 3 Episodes 1-3.The Wheel of Time has finally returned to our screens with its third season, and the Prime Video adaptation isn't wasting any time (no pun intended) in emphasizing that the stakes are higher than ever before for our heroes. Not only is Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) forced to grapple with which path is the right one for him in the wake of declaring himself the Dragon Reborn, but he also has to deal with the efforts of other characters to sway him in a certain direction — including Moiraine (Rosamund Pike). As the trailer for Season 3 has already revealed, Rand and Moiraine's fates seem to be inextricably linked, with Moiraine revealing to her Warder, Lan (Daniel Henney), that she's glimpsed countless futures in which either she or Rand survive, but never both of them. It's unclear...

In just a few days, The Wheel of Time will return for a third season on Prime Video. After an especially spectacular second season finale,, the series looks ready to take the reigns as one of the premiere genre shows on television.
The Wheel of Time novel series by Robert Jordan is one of the best-selling fantasy series of all time, with a whopping 14 novels and a prequel to enjoy. Showrunner Rafe Judkins has said previously that he is working towards adapting those main novels into about eight seasons of TV. That likely means things will get, and it's easy to understand why: it takes between 18 to 24 months to create one season of big-budget television. At that speed, adapting one novel per season would take up the next quarter-century of the lives of the cast and crew.

The Wheel of Time follows Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), a reincarnated hero known as the Dragon Reborn, as he goes on a world-spanning quest to prepare himself to face an enigmatic evil known as the Dark One. Guiding him is Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), an Aes Sedai sorceress determined to see him fulfill his destiny. Rand and Moiraine are at the center of season 3, but they're only two in a sprawling cast of characters, each of whom has a vital role to play in the story.

The third season of The Wheel of Time has it all: it never misses a beat in terms of character, plot, and stunning visuals. In my humble opinion, it is the best season of a fantasy show we have seen in a long while. It may very well be the best we’ll see in all of 2025.
I had the privilege of being able to take my time with the season. After I watched the first episode, I deemed it a very strong opener; it asks all the questions that will be answered throughout the season, spends a good amount of time exploring how character dynamics have developed and sets just the right tone. Before continuing to Episode 2, I thought to myself how this premiere would be a very hard episode to match… let alone surpass. I should not have worried: the writing stayed incredibly strong the entire season. So did the directing.

This week, The Wheel of Time returns for its third season on Prime Video. Based on the iconic fantasy book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, The Wheel of Time is a sweeping epic with a massive cast of heroes, villains, and characters who fall somewhere in between. It's a fantasy saga with a capital F, and its highly anticipated third season should be high on the watch list for any fan of genre television this year. The Wheel of Time has improved with each season, and this time around it's bigger and more ambitious than ever before.
At the heart of the saga is Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), a reincarnated savior known as the Dragon Reborn, who must gather allies to his side in order to face off against the ominous Dark One. But Rand isn't fighting this battle alone. While Rand and his Aes Sedai mentor Moiraine...

This week, Prime Video will premiere the third season of The Wheel of Time, its epic fantasy saga based on the beloved book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. While the show has only gotten better and better as time has gone on, this season stands to be extra special for fans because it adapts The Shadow Rising, the fourth book in the series and a major turning point for the saga. It's one of the most highly regarded books in the series...as well as a bloody new chapter for many of its characters, and where The Wheel of Time truly finds its footing.
Robert Jordan wrote 11 Wheel of Time books (and a prequel) before his passing in 2007. Mistborn author Brandon Sanderson then signed on to pen three more, finishing out the tale. Provided it's renewed for its entire run, the television show will span around eight seasons.

The 26th James Bond movie will be the first to be made under the new creative direction of Amazon MGM Studios. Longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have signed off on a new deal that will allow Amazon MGM to take complete creative control of the franchise moving forward, but it remains to be seen how the movie series will be different as a result.
Meanwhile, while many talents in Hollywood are excited about possibly becoming a part of the franchise, don't count on seeing Osgood Perkins in the mix to direct. Perkins, the son of Hollywood legends Anthony Perkins and Berry Berenson, has drawn high acclaim with his recent horror films, Longlegs and The Monkey. In a recent Reddit Ama, Perkins was asked if he would direct James Bond 26, and his response made it clear he won't even consider it.

Two of the biggest heroes in Prime Video's The Wheel of Time are Lan Mandragoran and Siuan Sanche. Lan is known as an incredible swordsman and instrumental in Moiraine Damodred's success. Meanwhile, Siuan is the Amyrlin Seat, the leader of the Aes Sedai, and has been an advisor to Egwene al'Vere. Without these two characters, the world would be very different.
Leading up to the March 13 release of The Wheel of Time Season 3, Cbr was able to speak with actors Daniel Henney (who plays Lan) and Sophie Okonedo (who portrays Siuan). The two stars discussed Lan and Siuan's respective journeys in the third season. They also reflected on how their characters' roles change as the show's overall story moves forward.

Another James Bond film series alum shares her thoughts on the stunning development that saw Amazon acquire the franchise's rights from longtime producers, Eon Productions. Live and Let Die star Jane Seymour believes the spy movie collection will do "really well" and isn't ruling out a return for a future sequel more than 50 years later.
Speaking with People, Seymour, who portrayed the Bond Girl, Solitaire, opposite the late Roger Moore's 007 in the Oscar-nominated Live and Let Die, declared Amazon's takeover the "end of an era" and "hopes" they will elevate the franchise following the move. However, she feels confident that the James Bond property will go from strength to strength given its popularity since the '60s. “I am sure it'll do really well,” she said. “I think Bond will keep going. People love Bond. It's a great franchise.”

Rosamund Pike has confirmed that The Wheel of Time Season 3 will make some changes to the book’s storyline, specifically delaying Rand al’Thor’s journey to the Stone of Tear. The new season, set to premiere on March 13, 2025, will follow Rand (Josha Stradowski) as he travels to the Aiel Waste before retrieving Callandor.
Pike explained that this adjustment was made to better translate Rand’s internal struggles to the screen. Instead of heading straight to the Stone of Tear, the show will send Rand into the Aiel Waste first, allowing him to discover his heritage and identity before obtaining the powerful sa’angreal. While the Stone of Tear remains an important part of the story, its placement has been shifted to better fit the TV adaptation.

When it comes to the adaptation of written works for on-screen consumption, there is always the challenge of what parts of the story need to be kept and those which can safely be cut. The Wheel of Time has turned again, and a decision has been made about what direction the Pattern has woven for Season 3. The upcoming season, which premieres on March 13 on Prime Video with its first three episodes, will adapt the events in The Shadow Rising, which covers Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the Dragon Reborn, as he heads into the Aiel Waste. This represents a significant departure from Robert Jordan’s bestselling series, and Rosamund Pike, who plays Moraine Sedai and serves as an executive producer, has addressed this change in the books' chronology.

The Wheel of Time season 3 is nearly upon, and if the thrilling first minutes we've already seen are any indication, it promises to be the fantasy television event of the year. Based on the hit book series by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time tells the story of a fight between good and evil on a grand scale, and the many heroes and villains caught up in the mix. Like the books, the show has a sprawling cast where each character gets their own moments to take the spotlight and pushes the narrative forward in unexpected ways.
Two characters we'll be seeing a lot in season 3 are Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), the warder for Rosamund Pike's Aes Sedai sorceress Moiraine; and Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo), the leader of the Aes Sedai and Moiraine's secret lover. The Wheel of Time is one of the most beloved fantasy sagas of all time. Over the course of 14 books, author Robert Jordan's tale of a young farm boy and his friends fighting the forces of darkness enthralled readers, selling more than 100 million copies around the globe. But the tale of how these books were made is almost as epic as the story of Rand al'Thor itself. In 2007, Jordan passed away from a rare blood disease; at the time he had only written 11 mainline Wheel of Time books and a prequel, leaving the future of the series very much in doubt.
Enter Brandon Sanderson, the hyper-prolific author behind such series as Mistborn, The Stormlight Archive, Skyward, and more. Sanderson was hand-picked by Robert Jordan's widow and editor Harriet McDougal to finish the series. Before his death, Jordan asked McDougal to find someone to finish his books, which Sanderson says she considered Jordan's "dying request.

The film industry has been adapting popular books for centuries and this trend continues to be strong today. However, not all adaptations were popular, either with the public or the authors, as many struggled to find an audience or maintain the heart of the novels.
Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson has also struggled with allowing his novels to be adapted. The author has had a series of popular epic fantasies, including the Mistborn or The Stormlight Archive series, but his novels have yet to be turned into movies or TV shows. Speaking to Polygon about the ongoing streaming environment, the author mentioned popular adaptations like The Wheel of Time and Shadow and Bone as examples of why that doesn't work out.

Last summer, fantasy fans were treated to a veritable feast of genre epics as both HBO's House Of The Dragon and Prime Video's The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power both returned to our screens for triumphant second seasons. But as we wait for the conflicts between House Green and Black — and the precariously allied forces of Middle-earth and the Dark Lord Sauron — to continue, fans of magic, prophecy, politicking, and other such speculative fiction shenanigans aren't being left high and dry by any means. This March will see Amazon's ambitious adaptation of Robert Jordan's sprawling Wheel Of Time continue with the release of the long-anticipated Season 3. And if the first trailer for the latest run of episodes is anything to go by, then it looks like trouble's a-brewing in the Westlands. Check it out below:

Thank the Light! The first trailer for Prime Video's The Wheel of Time Season 3 has just been released, and it's a doozy. Set to premiere on Mar. 13, the third entry in the series adapted from the books by Robert Jordan takes us to all new places, and introduces us to new characters like Elaidado Avriny a'Roihan, portrayed by Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Mostly adapting the fourth book in Jordan's series, The Shadow Rising, the trailer for The Wheel of Time Season 3 that was released online today (seen below) showcases what we can expect in March. Rosamund Pike's Moiraine Damodred and Josha Stradowski's Rand al'Thor are front and center as they head to the Aiel Waste, and there's no shortage of action and magic, of course. In addition to Elaidado Avriny a'Roihan, new characters also introduced this season include Faile (Isabella Bucceri), Bair (Nukâka Coster-Waldau), Melaine (Salóme Gunnarsdóttir), Rhuarc (Björn Landberg), and Melindhra (Synnøve Macody Lund.

The Wheel of Time continues to spin at Prime Video, and fate might spin in a dastardly direction for some characters if the Season 3 trailer is to be believed.
The sci-fi drama hit a significant snag during The Wheel of Time Season 2, featuring controversial storytelling choices.
Since the series premiere, the issue has been that there aren’t enough episodes in a season to do the novels justice, and it’s hard to imagine that changing any time soon.

When last we left our heroes, Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) had declared himself as the messianic Dragon Reborn for all the world to see, which is going to cause some major ripples. Some people will want to follow them into the Last Battle against the Dark One, some want to control him, others to kill him.

It's a good poster, although the most interesting thing about it may be the caption, telling us that an official trailer is coming tomorrow morning, Wednesday, February 12, at 8:00 a.m. Est.
We've already gotten a teaser trailer for The Wheel of Time season 3. If you've forgotten:
What's the difference between that teaser trailer and this upcoming proper trailer? Usually length. The teaser trailer ran for about a minute and 20 seconds. We can expect the proper trailer to go for over two minutes.

With fans of The Witcher still upset over Henry Cavill’s departure from the Netflix show, its Season 4 return with Liam Hemsworth at the helm of the series doesn’t exactly fill viewers with any sort of excitement. That being said, with Netflix’s upcoming Witcher film heading to the platform in February, it would seem they’re doing one thing right with the franchise as it moves forward without Cavill. An upcoming adult animated film, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, is the latest addition to Netflix’s Witcher universe and actually gives fans something to look forward to. The film takes place between Episodes 5 and 6 of the show’s first season and is based on the short story A Little Sacrifice from Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Shadow Rising is the fourth book in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series. It's considered one of the best entries in that series, and it forms the basis for the upcoming fourth season of Prime Video's The Wheel of Time TV show. What better time to talk about its strengths and weaknesses? Below, WiC editors Dan Selcke and Daniel Roman do just that. Beware Major Spoilers!

Dan: This is my first time reading through The Wheel of Time novels, and I'd always heard that The Shadow Rising was a big book for the series. Now I see why. I was starting to get a little tired of every book before this climaxing with Rand al'Thor winning a fight against Ba'alzamon, or Ishamael, or whatever name he's going by at this point.
