A video of the Highwaymen appearing on a talk show in 1991 has been making the rounds on social media since the 2024 presidential election, not because of any song they sang, but because of what they said. At least three members of the country supergroup called out the good ol’ U.S.A., courageously pointing out, in the words of Willie Nelson, that “There’s a lot of things wrong with this country.”

Chief Detective 1958 is a Korean detective series created by Park Jae-beom. The Mbc TV K-drama serves as a prequel series to the 1971 Korean series Chief Inspector with the new series being set in the 1950s to 1960s, 10 years before the original series events take place. Chief Detective 1958 follows the story of Detective Park Yeong-han, an ace when it comes to catching petty criminals but he begins to feel frustrated with the corrupt system of the police and decides to do something about it.
Chief Detective 1958 has hit the ground running with a charming cast and an intense story that easily hooks the new audience while paying homage to the original series. The first few episodes of the K-drama set up a story that could take us to some wild places and tell us the journey of Park Yeong-han becoming the man he was in the original series.

The true story of The Highwaymen stays relatively historically accurate, with some creative liberties taken. The film focuses on the real-life lawmen Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, rather than Bonnie and Clyde. The film's depiction of the prison break and the final shootout between the lawmen and the outlaws is accurate to the real events.

I’ll be the first to admit my mistakes. When I made that Alligator 2 defense, and no, doing that video is not the mistake I’m referring to, I mentioned that the giant monster movie had become somewhat of a lost art, particularly in the ’90s. Then I ended up rewatching Anaconda (watch it Here) and realized I had totally forgotten about it. That’s because it got lost in the likes of Deep Blue Sea and Lake Placid. Both those movies seem to have longer lasting impacts. Deep Blue Sea has that great surprise kill and Lake Placid has, well, it has Betty White. There are others, too. The 1970s were, arguably, the golden age of classic TV Christmas specials. Before variety shows and specials all but disappeared from the lineups of the three major networks (and before cable TV took over and shrank network viewership), each holiday season brought forth highly rated variety specials to please nearly everyone from 1 to 92. The four Johnny Cash Christmas specials, which ran every year on CBS from 1976-1979, were certainly no exception.

Kris Kristofferson was playing a show in Iowa on Wednesday night, but one of his most famous compositions was blaring throughout Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena at the 53rd annual Cma Awards. Sheryl Crow and Dierks Bentley teamed up to perform Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee” with an assist from Chris Janson on harmonica and Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne and the Eagles’ Joe Walsh on guitar.
The performance was the centerpiece of a tribute to the 83-year-old songwriter and Country Music Hall of Fame member, who received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Highwomen come steeped in history — a history they rewrite, literally and figuratively. Their name, and the title track of their terrific self-titled debut, alludes to “The Highwayman,” Jimmy Webb’s 1977 song-turned-hit signature of the Highwaymen, the Eighties supergroup of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. Rewritten with Webb for a new singer-songwriting collective — Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby — “The Highwomen” swaps the original’s mythic male narratives for female ones: an immigrant mom who dies fleeing Honduras through Mexico, a “witch” hanged in Salem,...

Fit, suntanned, and with faint wrinkles in all the right places, at 64, Kevin Costner still looks every bit the movie star that he was through the ’80s and ’90s. It’s hard to believe that the iconic baseball film Field of Dreams turns 30 years old this year and his Best Picture winning directorial debut Dances with Wolves will hit that milestone next year.
The maverick filmmaker is part of a group of stars this year (Julia Roberts is another) that you once never would have imagined seeing in a TV series. But Costner not only took that plunge with Yellowstone, from Hell or High Water and Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan, but also tested the streaming waters with the Netflix film The Highwaymen.
Back when you were a top Warner Bros. star, could you have seen yourself starring in television? It almost seemed like an insult in those days.
That’s actually not true at all.

The Highwaymen trailer features Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson as the two Texas Rangers who went on the hunt for Bonnie and Clyde. Netflix released the first trailer this morning ahead of its premiere at the annual SXSW Film Festival in March. The movie will then debut March 29th, exclusively on Netflix. The Highwaymen tells the unromantic story of Bonnie and Clyde and gives a completely new and fresh perspective on the legendary story.
While the outlaws made headlines, the lawmen made history. From director John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), The Highwaymen follows the untold story of the legendary detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde. When the full force of the FBI and the latest forensic technology aren't enough to capture the nation's most notorious criminals, two former Texas Rangers (Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson) must rely on their gut instincts and old school skills to get the job done.

Ethan Hawke and Jimmy Fallon channeled Willie Nelson on Tuesday’s “Tonight Show,” performing “On the Road Again” in an elaborate spoof of the legendary country supergroup the Highwaymen. The skit also also featured “Blaze” costars Charlie Sexton as Kris Kristofferson and Ben Dickey as Waylon Jennings.
The skit was a typically lighthearted Fallon affair in which Hawke-as-Nelson takes on the 1979 song’s love of life on the road and all that comes with it, while Fallon-as-Cash plays contrarian, wanting to stay home and play games and drink.
The pair then try to get their companions to play tie-breaker, but they demur. “But hold on a sec/ If we stay here we can get trashed and play Fortnite,” Fallon sings.
“Wait, what is Fortnite?” Hawke offered back as Sexton and Dickey feigned confusion.
“Fortnite is an online, multi-player game where a flyin’ bus drops you off onto an island,” Fallon sang.

After languishing in development for more than a decade, DreamWorks is finally moving forward with their thriller Motorcade, bringing on Joe Carnahan to write the script and direct. The story follows a terrorist attack on the U.S. President's motorcade as he travels through Los Angeles. We first reported on the project back in November 2004, when DreamWorks picked up the pitch from writers Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell (Highwaymen).
The project has attracted plenty of top-notch talent throughout the years, with Tom Cruise being eyed to star at one point, and filmmakers such as Jon Cassar and Len Wiseman circling the project as well. The story was previously set in New York City, but the most recent version of the script by Billy Ray is set in L.A. No further story details were given at this time.
Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will executive produce, although no production schedule was given.

Special Mention: The Fake Trailers from Grindhouse (2007, USA): The four fake trailers featured in the otherwise disappointing Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double-feature: Machete by Robert Rodriguez, Werewolf Women of the SS by Rob Zombie, Thanksgiving by Eli Roth and Don’t by Edgar Wright-are all very entertaining trips down horror/exploitation film memory lane and are easily the best part of the film.

Four months after the release of Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie, Tom Cruise is still organizing his future. The actor has a number of potential projects lined up, which seem to be at the top of the list for many studios. According to the trades, studios have spent millions of dollars in rewrite fees to custom-tailor projects for the star. The frontrunners for his next film appear to be the DreamWorks drama Motorcade, to be directed by Len Wiseman, followed by the Spyglass remake The Tourist (with Charlize Theron), to be helmed by Bharat Nalluri, and the Fox action comedy Wichita (with Cameron Diaz), which James Mangold will direct. Also still in the mix is MGM's The Matarese Circle, which potentially matches Cruise with Denzel Washington and director David Cronenberg. Motorcade, which was written by Billy Ray (Breach), centers on a group of terrorists attacking the president's motorcade as it traverses through Los Angeles.

Len Wiseman is in talks to direct Motorcade, a DreamWorks thriller from writer Billy Ray about terrorists attacking the president's motorcade as it traverses through Los Angeles. Ray previously wrote and directed Shatter Glass and Breach as well as writing Suspect Hero, Hart’s War and the Jodie Foster thriller Flight Plan.
