The film is now available on YouTube

This lost film is based on Ingmar Bergman's "Reservatet". The original teleplay concentrates on the complete breakdown in communication between a husband and wife and their painful awakening to what is real and false in the world in which they exist.

An interesting trivia, the great director Joel Schumacher served as its costume designer.

The made for TV movie was a part of the CBS Playhouse 90 series which ran from the 50s-70s. The Lie was nominated for 5 Emmy's. It stars George Segal and Shelley Knight. The director Alex Segal visited Bergman on Sweden and the film had his direct input for the English language adaptation. Original Air Date: April 24th, 1973.
