The Black Phone and Sinister director Scott Derrickson gets into the Valentine’s Day spirit with his latest, The Gorge, a romantic action thriller that also leans heavily into horror and sci-fi. Derrickson helms this genre mashup with lean efficiency, letting stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy do the heavy lifting as a pair of highly trained operatives turned lovers tasked with guarding the world against a strange threat. The leads’ inherent charm and screen presence and an inventive foray into thrilling action-horror territory sand some of The Gorge‘s rougher edges, making for a fun and romantic ride.
The Gorge introduces Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Joy) as skilled snipers so efficient and isolated at their jobs that they’re enlisted in a top-secret mission that sees them whisked away to an undisclosed location deep in the middle of the wilderness, where they’re to guard opposite sides of a mysterious,...

Well, howdy there, folks. It looks as if Ethan Hawke is saddling up for a remake of the Gregory Peck Western The Gunfighter at 20th Century Studios. According to Deadline, the project is in its early development stage, with Hawke co-writing the screenplay alongside Shelby Gaines. Hawke, a significant fan of the Henry King-directed original, plans to star in the film as Jimmy Ringo, a man with an itchy trigger finger who finds himself in trouble after riding into town looking for his true love. Only she doesn’t want to see him. While Jimmy doesn’t come to town looking for trouble, trouble finds him everywhere. Although he’s not contracted to, Hawke could also direct the film.
Henry King’s The Gunfighter, released in 1950, stars Gregory Peck as Jimmy Ringo, Helen Westcott as Peggy Walsh, and Millard Mitchell as Marshal Mark Strett. Previously, Hawke spoke with Tmc’s 2 For 1 host,...

Ava enlisted Steve’s Black Patch skills to help her track down the identity of the person who had been sending threatening texts via a burner phone. While she remained in the dark, viewers discovered the identity of her mysterious texter in the Thursday, December 26 episode of Days of Our Lives.
The Burner Phone Texting Culprit
Until now, most signs pointed toward Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) until you really broke down what was happening. Ava (Tamara Braun) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) went on a date that was supposed to involve going to The Nutcracker. Unfortunately, Brady’s tickets disappeared, and Ava’s Wi-Fi went out when they attempted to watch a movie on TV.
However, tickets disappearing from Brady’s jacket pocket and a series of simply worded texts seemed too small to be Kristen’s doing. When she decides to sabotage, she goes big or goes home.

Now that Agatha All Along revealed Billy Maximoff's return, the lingering question is: where is Tommy Maximoff? The twin sons of Vision and the Scarlet Witch were first introduced in WandaVision as constructs within Wanda Maximoff's false reality. Unfortunately, Wanda had to sacrifice the boys to undo the havoc she wreaked upon the citizens of Westview. She then attempted to reunite with Billy and Tommy through multiversal means using dark magic, committing multiple heinous acts in the process. The Scarlet Witch then recognized the error of her ways and sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold.
Related Where Is Scarlet Witch's Other Son, Tommy Maximoff?
Agatha All Along has confirmed the return of Billy Maximoff, but the Scarlet Witch's other son, speedster Tommy, is yet to return to the MCU.
Since then, Agatha All Along reintroduced Billy into the MCU. What's more, the series also gave Billy's motive: to find Tommy.

There are few spooky season activities as beloved – and as culturally important – as Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. The event, which runs through the first weekend of November, is the ultimate Halloween experience – between the haunted houses, scare zones, specialty merchandise and food and overall vibe, it’s hard to imagine the holiday without Hhn.
And this year is no different. With a combination of original and IP-based houses, Hhn is back and better than ever. We attended the Hollywood version of Halloween Horror Nights (there’s also an even-more-expansive version at Universal’s Orlando resort), did all of the mazes and are here to rank them.
One note: both the “Purge”-based water show (which takes over the Waterworld outdoor auditorium) returns this year but is very much the same show as last year. And there’s another “live” experience, Late Night with Chucky, which puts your...

Colin Farrell has been active in the industry for the past two and a half decades, but his best roles appear to have come late in his career. The Irish actor’s only Academy Award nomination came for the role in The Banshees of Inisherin. In the same year as the tragicomedy, he also starred in Matt Reeves’ The Batman as the Penguin, a role that got a spin-off movie of its own.

The Penguin, which premiered on September 19, has received critical acclaim, proving that Farrell has put the days of dreading his Alexander role behind him. His personal life has been more colorful in the 2000s than his career, as he was romantically linked to several A-list stars and models. Did he settle down with any of them?

Warning: Spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 3.
In From season 3, episode 3, "Mouse Trap," the sci-fi horror series picks up the pace again even though it is another outing that's free of From's monsters. While From season 3, episode 2 was a more pensive chapter that dealt with the fallout of Tian-Chen's (Elizabeth Moy) death and Jim's (Eion Bailey) continued absence from Ethan's (Simon Webster) and Julie's (Hannah Cheramy) lives, the third episode sees From's cast of characters coming face-to-face with shocking discoveries. However, in true From fashion, none of the show's biggest mysteries are really any closer to being solved.
It's still not clear why Fatima is eating rotten crops, for example, or how From's lighthouse portal deposited Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) in Victor's (Scott McCord) childhood hometown of Camden, Maine. The Ghoulish Children and Boy in White don't make appearances at all though Jade (David Alpay) navigates other terrifying visions. Much...

But more recently, he has been amazing viewers and critics with his portrayal of Oz Comb in The Penguin.

Stephen King is the undisputed maestro of horror. He might not be your personal favorite writer who's actively working in the genre, but he has unquestionably influenced your fave to some degree in the half-century since the release of his first published novel, "Carrie," in 1974 -- not to mention the classic Brian De Palma film adaptation that followed only two years later.
He's also something of an under-sung talent when it comes to telling stories that aren't strictly of the horror variety. For all their distressing moments, Stephen King movies like "Stand By Me," "Dolores Claiborne," and "The Shawshank Redemption" (like their source material) are more character dramas than unfiltered horror narratives. But even without memorable metaphors like a child-eating clown creature or a father being compelled by ghosts to axe-murder his family, these stories paint complicated portraits of humankind and our shortcomings to rival those of the author's tales of terror.

The Black Phone's heroes continuously get in their own way The Black Phone's The Grabber ensures his own demise by sheer incompetence The Black Phone 2 has the opportunity to answer almost every plot hole in the original
In 2021's horror thriller hit, The Black Phone, Ethan Hawke's serial killer known as The Grabber kidnapped the young Finney in 1978, aiming to make the boy his sixth victim in the Denver suburbs. Fortunately, Finney got supernatural help from ghosts of the dead boys in the villain's basement.
These spirits not only helped Finney formulate a plan to escape, they help him bring about an end to The Grabber's reign of terror. But, when the families of both Finney and The Grabber started factoring in more, several plot holes and unanswered questions arise that the film doesn't ever really get around to explaining away.

Mike Flanagan's next project adapts Stephen King's The Life of Chuck. Flanagan could revive the tradition of Stephen King cameos with The Life of Chuck. The Life of Chuck, starring Tom Hiddleston, follows Chuck's life story in three acts, with a sinister twist typical of King's storytelling.
Mike Flanagans next film project is the adaptation of Stephen Kings The Life of Chuck, and it can bring back an old King tradition that hasnt been seen in a long time. Mike Flanagan has become one of the modern masters of horror thanks to his works on both TV and film. Flanagans career as a filmmaker began in 2011 with Absentia, but he rose to fame two years later with Oculus, written and directed by him. Since then, Flanagan has been unstoppable, bringing stories like Hush and Ouija: Origin of Evil to life before bringing his style of horror to TV.

A decade into her solo career, Beyoncé effectively evaded irrelevancy by wresting control of her own narrative. After her 2011 album 4 failed to produce a Top 10 hit—to date, her only album to do so—the singer began dropping albums without any pre-release promotion, sidestepping chart expectations and reimagining the traditional pop album release strategy. Since then, she’s done few interviews and often glides into awards shows donning dark shades and a straight face, shrewdly creating a superstar mystique in the vein of Michael Jackson and Prince.
That approach, thankfully, has been accompanied by some of Beyoncé’s most creative, political, and inspired work to date. Her 2016 visual album Lemonade drew on her personal experiences as a Black woman to comment on feminism and racism in the Me Too and Black Lives Matter era, while its follow-up, 2022’s Renaissance, kept the focus squarely on the music, inspired by and dedicated...

Walter almost revealed his secret life as Heisenberg early on with his shady behavior and suspicious phone habits. Hank missed numerous clues from Walt's bizarre fugue state to driving recklessly to avoid discovery at the industrial laundry. The connection between Walt and Jesse, sudden wealth, and Skyler's fear for her children should have raised red flags for Hank.
The most burning question throughout Breaking Bad related to when Hank Schrader would discover Walter White’s secret life as the meth kingpin Heisenberg, and based on the many clues that Walt left throughout the series it should have been a lot earlier. Of course, the scene where Hank pieced it all together while sitting in White’s bathroom was an iconic Breaking Bad moment, but throughout the show there were plenty of other times when Walt almost accidentally let his double-life be known. The classic 1955 movie The Night of the Hunter was adapted from Davis Grubb’s same-titled novel, and we’ve learned tonight that a brand new adaptation is now in the works.
THR reports this afternoon that Scott Derrickson will be directing the new take on The Night of the Hunter, with C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) writing.
Derrickson will write the script alongside Cargill, the report adds.
Cargill previews on the platform formerly known as Twitter tonight, “For those unfamiliar, Night of the Hunter was based on a novel that was *Much Darker* than the 1950s would allow. Very excited about this project and thrilled we can finally talk about it.”
The Night of the Hunter follows a religious fanatic, con man and murderer who marries a widow, knowing that her deceased husband had hid $10,000 from authorities following a bank robbery. The widow’s young children are reluctant to tell him...

Beyond being the undisputed King of Horror, Stephen King also reigns as one of the authors with the most book-to-movie adaptations. From faithful classics like Carrie and The Shining to newer revisions like The Boogeyman and Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, imaginings of King’s works have garnered immense praise and numerous Academy Award nominations. Only a single movie, however, has actually secured one of the coveted golden trophies. While bloody prom queens and killer clowns would surely be contenders to snag an acting Oscar (who are famously generous to the bloody and the scary!), the lone winner among the legions of horrific characters is Kathy Bates’ performance as Annie Wilkes, a modest nurse turned vicious madwoman in the 1990 psychological thriller, Misery.

The Lifetime movie Girl in the Basement takes some liberties with the true story of Elisabeth Fritzl, changing names, locations, and adding failed escape attempts for dramatic effect. The addition of a romantic interest for Sarah in the film, Chris, adds unnecessary fluff to a story that should focus on strength and survival, rather than romantic love. This article contains spoilers for Squid Game: The Challenge through episode 10.
Squid Game became a global hit for many reasons: its bloody violence, its scathing criticism of late-stage capitalism, its Jung Ho-yeon, and so on. But perhaps the most underrated reason is the most obvious: its games.
Never before has the survival horror genre depicted lovingly-crafted high stakes versions of children’s games quite like Squid Game. When it came time for Netflix to adapt the show into reality competition Squid Game: The Challenge, it obviously couldn’t include murder, capitalistic critique, or Jung Ho-yeon. It could, however, include those games. So it did.
Squid Game: The Challenge is full of contests that should be familiar to dedicated Squid Game fans. It also tosses in a few new curveballs to keep the players on their toes. Here you can find every game that Netflix’s Squid Game reality series has staged so far,...

2022 was a great year for horror fans. New standalone movies and new installments of big franchises flooded the big and small screen during that year. The master of horror, Stephen King, appears to have new adaptations of his work coming out every year. The year saw the movie adaptation of Firestarter — that didn't impress audiences as much as it was hoped. Also in 2022, his son, Joe Hill, had one short story adapted by Blumhouse Productions, The Black Phone.

The Black Phone premiered June 24, 2022, and there were immediate statements from Ethan Hawke, the lead actor in the movie, and the director, Scott Derrickson, about their willingness to return to this story. The confirmation of The Black Phone 2 is exciting news, especially considering writer-director Scott Derrickson's promise for a sequel based on Joe Hill's short story. The original film blends a story about a serial child abductor with supernatural elements, and its thought-provoking details add depth beyond jump scares. Ethan Hawke's return to the franchise is crucial, as indicated by Scott Derrickson's firm stipulation, and it's likely that the sequel will explore the supernatural elements further, potentially bringing The Grabber back to the screen.

Plot: John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams is a genre-busting, unscripted horror anthology series from the mind of legendary director, writer, and producer John Carpenter. The series explores the dark secrets and unspeakable evil that sometimes lurks beneath the surface of the sun-drenched streets, manicured lawns, and friendly neighbors of suburbia. Each episode focuses on one true tale of terror, told by the real people who lived through it. Their firsthand accounts are brought to life through premium cinematic scene work, news clips, home photos, and archival footage, combining the visual language of horror films with the tools and techniques of documentaries, creating a uniquely frightening experience for viewers.
