‘Fixed’ Trailer: Netflix Unveils Director’s Cut Taster For Genndy Tartakovsky’s R-Rated Comedy About A Randy Dog
Image
Dog lovers around the world may find it hard to look their male, canine friends in the eyes again after watching Genndy Tartakovsky’s upcoming adult animated movie Fixed.

The R-rated comedy follows the adventures of Bull an average, all-around good dog who discovers he’s going to be taken to the vet to be neutered in the morning by his owners, exasperated by his constant humping of grandma’s leg.

As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends in the last 24 hours with his balls intact.

Netflix has released a red band director’s cut trailer for the movie – giving a taster of the whacky boundary-pushing animation ahead of its launch on the platform on August 13.

The movie world premiered to an enthusiastic crowd at the Annecy International Film Festival in June and also received...

‘Spaceballs 2’ Will Be First Movie for Rick Moranis in 30 Years
Image
As the sequel to Spaceballs dropped its first teaser trailer this week, many of the headlines focused on the return of Mel Brooks — about to celebrate his 99th birthday! — as Yogurt. There’s Mel in the sneak peek, looking spry in his Spaceballs: The Sweatshirt outfit.

While performing at Brooks’ age is a crazy accomplishment, we’ve seen him continue to act in recent years on shows like Only Murders in the Building and his own History of the World: Part II. The genuinely remarkable cast announcement for Spaceballs 2 is the return of Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet.

Moranis, one of the most successful comedy actors of the 1980s thanks to films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 1996’s Big Bully with Tom Arnold.

The actor began phasing out of public life after his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky,...

Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, and Daphne Zuniga in La Folle Histoire de l'espace (1987)
Update: Lewis Pullman in talks to join Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis & Keke Palmer in the new Spaceballs movie
Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, and Daphne Zuniga in La Folle Histoire de l'espace (1987)
Update: The new Spaceballs movie is turning into a family affair. THR reports that Lewis Pullman (Thunderbolts*) is in talks to join his father, Bill Pullman, in the upcoming Spaceballs sequel. As you might expect, the younger Pullman will play the son of Queen Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman), who is named Starburst.

— Original article follows —

Thirty-eight years after Mel Brooks took George Lucas’s Star Wars universe to task with the 1987 comedy classic Spaceballs, the 98-year-old filmmaker is up to his old tricks with a new Spaceballs movie coming in 2027! On Thursday, Brooks announced the film’s targeted release year through a hilarious teaser lampooning the absurd number of sequels and spin-offs from other franchises. In addition to the official announcement, Deadline says Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman are returning for the new Spaceballs movie, with Keke Palmer joining the cast.

Before you ask, yes, Mel...

Somehow Rick Moranis Returned! Comedy Legend Is Coming Back for 'Spaceballs 2' — and He's Not the Only One
Image
The Schwartz is truly with us all today! Not only is the iconic Mel Brooks returning as Yogurt for Amazon MGM Studio's highly anticipated Spaceballs 2, but some of the heavyweights from the first film are also back: Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman are reprising their respective roles as Dark Helmet and Lone Starr, according to Deadline, with Keke Palmer also joining the cast. This marks the first return to the screen for Moranis in years, so get ready to "watch evil triumph," as Dark Helmet says, because "good is dumb."

Plot details on the film remain unclear, but Moranis, Pullman and Brooks appear to be gearing up for more adventures on Druidia, decades after Pullman's Lone Starr first saved Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) from the malicious Spaceballs in one of the most iconic Star Warsparodies ever made. Palmer's character is unknown, but she is expected to join the...

Starring Sir Patrick Stewart, along with an ensemble cast of the bridge crew, the show gained traction by its third season and became a worldwide phenomenon, reviving the franchise.

Many celebrities have been fans of the sci-fi show, with some of them even being a part of Tng, like Whoopi Goldberg and LeVar Burton. Similarly, Robin Williams was also a fan and was reportedly enthusiastic about joining the franchise as a guest star. The writers had also written a part for him, but he ultimately could not join.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s ‘Fixed’ Is a Miracle | Annecy Review
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Fixed” shouldn’t exist.

It’s a traditionally animated, R-rated sex comedy about a dog who, on the eve of getting snipped, embarks on an unhinged odyssey in the big city. The best way to describe it is probably Spike Lee’s “25th Hour” mixed with Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp.”

For a while, it seemed like nobody would actually get to see “Fixed.”

It was a long-held passion project for Tartakovsky, whose “Hotel Transylvania” films have made more than $1 billion for Sony. He wanted to do something radically different and, after years of prodding and pitching, Sony finally let him off the leash. The film was conceived as a co-production between Sony (who would make the movie) and New Line Cinema (who would distribute it), but after the movie was finished, New Line Cinema backed out, sending the movie back to Sony who then had...

Global TV Producers On Navigating Trump’s Tariff Storm: “Ignore the Distractions”
Image
TV producers have some useful advice on how to navigate a global entertainment industry threatened by Donald Trump’s tariffs war that appears drawn from a world leaders’ manual on how to survive an Oval Office ambush.

Don’t lose the plot and stay focused. “We have a plan. We’re sticking with the plan and just sort of ignoring the distractions,” Justin Stockman, vp of content development and programming at Canada’s Bell Media, a major co-production player, told the Banff World Media Festival on Tuesday.

Stockman added if anything actually materializes from the U.S. president’s erratic trade policy and threats, deal with it then. “We’re just trying to stay focused,” he said during a panel on international co-financing and co-productions for global content.

The panel focused on global streamers especially becoming more open to windowing and licensing as they shift from prestige series to procedurals...

Rhett & Link’s new gig? Recommending mythical products on Etsy
Image
Creators can make big dollars recommending mass-produced products on ecommerce hubs like Amazon and TikTok Shop because, as you probably know, affiliate codes do be going crazy sometimes (unless the buyer has Honey installed). But there isn’t as much infrastructure for creators to quickly and easily recommend handmade products from independent sellers.

That’s where Etsy wants to fit in.

The marketplace earned nearly $3 billion last year from sellers who offer over 100 million products–everything from handmade jewelry to art to fursuits, crocheted onesies, full-sized, functional leather horse saddles, and more.

Now, it’s looking to sell a little more by partnering with Mythical‘s Rhett & Link on an official recommendation shop.

Mythical’s digital storefront currently includes recs in several categories: Rhett & Link’s faves from across Etsy, a special Father’s Day collection, an “as seen on Good Mythical Morning” section, and perhaps the most interesting,...

‘Honey Don’t!’ Review: Margaret Qualley Stars As A Gutsy Private Eye In Ethan Coen’s Messy Comic Noir – Cannes Film Festival
Image
Even after his death in 2004, there’s still only one Russ Meyer, and this, the second solo outing from the Coen brothers’ Ethan, is a sad reminder of the talent he took with him to the grave. Meyer gave big parts to big women in films that shouted about Sex! in great big capital letters, bringing an artistry to the drive-in but never patronizing the sizable blue-collar audience that dug his bawdy humor. Honey Don’t! would benefit from even just a fraction of Meyer’s genius; as it is, there’s a reason why Coen’s film was tucked away in a graveyard slot on the last weekend of the Cannes Film Festival, much like you keep self-raising flour on a shelf that’s near impossible to reach because you don’t really ever use it.

The opening is certainly striking; a car is being chased, and it crashes somewhere in the desert,...

‘Honey Don’t!’ Review: Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans Get Stranded in Ethan Coen’s Wayward Whodunit
Image
In Honey Don’t!, the latest film in Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke’s intended lesbian B-movie trilogy, Margaret Qualley plays Honey O’Donahue, a tough but glamorous private investigator in Bakersfield, California. Honey is typically in the business of infidelity, taking cases involving suspicious spouses and their philandering partners. But at the start of Coen’s prankish film, which premiered at Cannes and will be released in theaters by Focus Features on Aug. 22, the sleuth finds herself drawn into a higher-stakes mystery. The death of a local woman leads Honey down a slippery path involving religious cults, megalomaniacal pastors and an unexpected romance.

For the most part, Honey Don’t! lives in the same thematic universe as Coen’s first solo narrative venture Drive-Away Dolls, which the director also co-wrote with Cooke. In that film, Qualley played a lesbian Lothario, who, after a bad break-up with her police officer girlfriend (Beanie Feldstein...

Honey Don't! Review: Margaret Qualley Sizzles In Ethan Coen's Moody, Unabashedly Queer Noir
Image
Cinema is a collaborative medium, and as such, there have been numerous directing teams peppered throughout film history. As with any collaboration, there's no guarantee that the band will be together forever, and sometimes the teams do indeed split up. The Coen brothers, Ethan and Joel, underwent such a creative breakup around the beginning of this decade, with both men moving on to make their own movies without each other. Unlike some creative split-ups, however, the Coens post-breakup works couldn't be more different from one another. Where Joel made 2021's "The Tragedy of Macbeth" an austere, intensely moody Shakespeare adaptation that recalled Ingmar Bergman and Carl Theodor Dreyer, Ethan teamed up with his wife Tricia Cooke to make "Drive-Away Dolls," a mash-up of B-movie tropes (homaging everything from "Badlands" to '60s psychedelia flicks) that retained the Coens' prior interest in dry humor and film noir.

Upon the release of "Dolls,...

‘Killing Eve’ Returns With a Secret Prequel Series No One Knew About
Image
Just last week, it was revealed that the BBC were setting in motion a brand-new Cold War spy drama, Honey, ready to continue the company's trend of producing some of the very best in modern spy thrillers. However, something that failed to be mentioned in the initial announcement was, according to Deadline, the news that Honey will be a prequel to Killing Eve,Phoebe Waller-Bridge's masterful adaptation of the Villanelle series of novels by Luke Jennings, starring both Sandra Oh andJodie Comer.

Although rumors of the prequel have been quietly circulating for some time, this announcement has shocked many in the fanbase who had felt the Killing Eve franchise had fired its last bullet. Well, said fanbase can now rejoice, especially considering the prequel will follow the beloved character of Carolyn Martens, the head of the Russia Section at MI6, played with acclaimed poise by Harry Potter's Fiona Shaw.

BBC Cold War Spy Drama Honey Is Actually A Stealth Killing Eve Prequel Series
Image
Now here's a delicious TV news twist we didn't see coming. When the BBC unveiled plans for a "flirty" Cold War spy drama called Honey just last week, poured from the pen of Extraordinary creator Emma Moran and hailing from Killing Eve producer Sid Gentle, it would be fair to say that the show had our curiosity. But now, courtesy of Deadline, we're discovering that this isn't just a show from the producer of Killing Eve, it's a full-on prequel to Phoebe Waller-Bridge's wildly entertaining thriller series — one set to chart the origins of fan-favourite Carolyn Martens, the head of MI6's Russia Desk. And that has our attention.

Originally played to BAFTA winningly brilliant effect by Fiona Shaw, Carolyn Martens is a master manipulator and one of the most compelling of all Killing Eve's incredibly complex characters, a near-peerless agent whose arc — from multiple time world-saver to...

The series, which was previously announced, per Deadline, will actually be a prequel series to Killing Eve,which will focus on the story of Carolyn Martens, who, in Killing Eve, was played by Fiona Shaw (the Harry Potter franchise).

Although the fact that Honey will be a prequel series to the Phoebe Waller-Bridge-created Killing Eve was not announced with the series, there were hints that it was going to be a prequel. The lead in Honey is named “Marta” and Sid Gentle Films, which produced Killing Eve, is also producing Honey. The Critic Co-Creator Seems to Tease Revival 30 Years After Airing Final Episode
Image
The Critic only aired for two seasons in the 1990s, but three decades later, many fans still remember the series fondly. If there are enough of them interested, they could soon be getting good news with one of the creators of the show teasing a revival.

An animated sitcom, The Critic was created by Simpsons vets Al Jean and Mike Reiss. In a recent post on X, Jean shared an image of The Critic along with a message stating, "Just curious ... how many would like to see [The Critic], with [Jon Lovitz] return[?]" This is certainly not an official announcement that a revival is happening, but Jean seems to be hinting that it could be in the works. Perhaps Jean is testing the fan reactions to see how much interest there would be in a revival before fully committing to the idea. In two days' time, the post has garnered 15.2K likes.

Image
Semi-retired actor Rick Moranis is seldom in the spotlight these days after stepping away from Hollywood to focus on his family in the late 1990s. He's now made a rare public appearance by doing an all-new interview in which he reflected on making the hit filmHoney, I Shrunk the Kids.

Released in 1989, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids starred Moranis as Wayne Szalinski, an inventor who creates a shrinking ray that inadvertently shrinks his own children (along with the neighbor's kids). Per Cinema Relics, Moranis was presented with some of the film's memorable props that he used for his character. It should be a fun watch for fans of Moranis, especially those who particularly enjoyed Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. The interview in full can be viewed below.

Series Mania Booms, Grows Market Edge, Anticipates New U.S.-Europe Tensions: These and Other Takeaways from the 2025 Edition
Image
Lille, France 2025 looks set to go down in history as the year that Series Mania, already the biggest TV festival in Europe, stepped up to another level.

Exhibition booths at the Grand Palais’ newly expanded second floor stretched from one side of its second floor – and the Palais is very grand – to another. Floor traffic was packed, charging up from second to third and fourth floors with more exhibition space with an energy reminiscent of Mipcom back in the day. Multiple keynotes, especially those made available to the public, were sold out. Charlie Brooker’s could have given his “Black Mirror” Masterclass twice over and still have had Sro.

Amanda Seyfried, in town for “Long Bright River,” Pamela Adlon, Series Mania’s jury president, and Christina Hendricks, teasing “Good American Family” and presenting “Small Town, Big Story,” added star dazzle to this year’s edition.

The Series Mania lineup came...

BBC & Zdf Strike High-End Drama Partnership
Image
The BBC and Zdf have struck a scripted partnership for new high-end drama shows.

The news comes two days after the networks unveiled a new series titled Honey from Killing Eve producer Sid Gentle and Extraordinary writer Emma Moran at Series Mania. They have recently collaborated on the second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which is also made with Netflix.

The BBC and Zdf said the collab “will maximise the strengths of two of Europe’s leading public service broadcasters, combining Zdf’s pan European co-production know-how with the BBC’s track record of hugely popular and award-winning scripted titles.”

The move comes with the bottom falling out the American co-pro market, which has hugely impacted the BBC’s ability to make high-end fare in particular. A number of projects are stuck in funding limbo.

“We are not the same”: Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Gets Canceled by Both the Right and the Left as Disney Regrets Casting Gal Gadot
Image
Hollywood is no stranger to colossal misfires, but Disney’s live-action Snow White may just take the poisoned apple for the worst casting decisions of the decade. In a world where studios spend millions on research, focus groups, and algorithms to predict audience reception, somehow, somehow, they decided that Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot were the dream duo to revive a beloved classic.

Rachel Zegler in Snow White | Credits: Walt Disney Studios

The result? Universal outrage. Some fans despised Zegler for being too woke, while others weren’t thrilled about her trashing the original film. Meanwhile, Gal Gadot, who was supposed to bring the evil Queen to life, instead brought… well, herself, flat delivery, stiff expressions, and the same mystified look she wore throughout all of Wonder Woman 1984. The world collectively asked, does Gal Gadot actually know how to act? No, she does not.

How Canadian Directors Making a Revenge Thriller Found Romance on Set: “Love Is Unpredictable”
Image
Romance for indie filmmakers Dusty Mancinelli and Madeleine Sims-Fewer blossomed in the most unexpected of places — as they shot their 2020 debut feature Violation, a relentlessly violent and gory revenge drama set in cottage-country Canada.

“After making our first film, which really dealt with trauma and was very dark, very painful to make and really delved into the dark recesses of our minds, we wanted to make something that was about love,” Sims-Fewer tells The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Honey Bunch, their sophomore feature, having its world premiere in Berlin on Feb. 18.

In their first feature, which bowed at the Toronto Film Festival, Sims-Fewer played a young woman in an unhappy marriage who, with her sister and their husbands, stays at a secluded cottage where unspoken traumas and upsetting sexual violence are gradually revealed.

But on Honey Bunch, the Canadian filmmakers deliberately toned down the dark, bloody material of their first feature.

‘The Masked Singer’ Season 13 opens with Ant’s ‘brave’ #MeToo moment: ‘No one will ever stomp us out’
Image
Luck was in the air Wednesday night as Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora celebrated the premiere of The Masked Singer Season 13. The panelists started out the show by squishing into an elevator with all of the former winning costumes: Monster, Fox, Night Angel, Sun, Piglet, Queen of Hearts, Firefly, Harp, Medusa, Cow, and Goldfish. Host Nick Cannon then asked if there was “room for four more,” as he was accompanied by all three reigning Buffalos.

Just like in years past, the lucky 13th season premiere introduced a new group of costumes who would duke it out on the main stage for a shot at eventually winning the Golden Mask. The singer with the lowest number of votes would be forced to unmask in front of America. The contestants who took part in Episode 1 were Honey Pot, Ant, Paparazzo, Fuzzy Peas, and Coral. Image
The influencer marketing industry continues to grow, and one company in that space is capitalizing on a major funding opportunity. ShopMy has set itself up for future expansion with a $77.5 million Series B funding round.

The round was co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures, according to the Wall Street Journal. ShopMy works with more than 550 brands to bring influencer campaigns and affiliate links to a network of more than 100,000 creators. By playing the matchmaker between advertisers and microinfluencers, ShopMy generates revenue for itself (through subscriptions and sales cuts) and creators (through link commissions) while helping brands reach their goals.

ShopMy has typically applied that business model for brands in the beatuy, fashion, and makeup categories, but it plans to use its latest funding round to expand its scope, according to Harry Rein. The ShopMy Co-Founder told WSJ that his company will set its sights on wellness, maternity,...

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare's Martin Portlock & Kit Green Reveal Their Tcu Futures
Image
Martin Portlock and Kit Green are taking on two classic children's characters with a terrifying twist in Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Portlock and Green suit up as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, respectively. Instead of being the cheery guides to Neverland that audiences know them to be, Peter Pan is a serial-killing kidnapper, while Tinker Bell is a drug-addicted henchman.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is the latest installment in the Twisted Childhood Universe, an interconnected franchise of classic children's characters with a slasher spin. The Scott Chambers-produced world began in 2023 with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and is set to continue with projects like Bambi: The Reckoning and Pinnochio: Unstrung. All installments are building to a crossover film, Poohniverse: Monsters. Assembled, which is planned to go into production this summer.

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ Review: Public Domain Horrorsploitation Develops Some Chops
Image
In a small way, the micro-budgeted U.K. indie “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” more than pulled its weight in drawing audiences back to theaters two years ago. The bad-taste concept and trailer generated guilty-pleasure viral traction; then the Fathom Events theatrical window was so short, there was no chance for word-of-mouth to spoil the fun. Which was fortunate, as the film itself was an amateurish slog.

You have to give the filmmakers credit, though: They swallowed all criticism (including an impressive sweep of the Golden Raspberries), vowing to plow their considerable profits into making better movies …albeit in the same vein. Last year’s “Honey” sequel was reportedly a significant improvement. Now there’s “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,” a nasty piece of work — in the sense that it appeals to horror fans with a strong stomach not just for gore but truly unpleasant ideas.

You might hesitate to call a...

Samia Announces New Album Bloodless, Unveils “Bovine Excision”: Stream
Image
CoSign alum Samia has announced her new album, Bloodless, out April 25th via Grand Jury Music. In advance, she’s released lead single “Bovine Excision” and its accompanying video. Stream it below.

Made with longtime co-producers Caleb Wright and Jake Luppen and frequent songwriting partners Christian Lee Hutson and Raffaela, Bloodless draws inspiration from unsolved mysteries like inexplicable cattle mutilations, the presence of God, and the impossibility of femininity.

“It’s easier to be what someone wants you to be if you give as little as possible,” Samia said in a statement. “I noticed a pattern in my life of wanting to live up to the person I became in someone’s head; you become a lot bigger with distance.”

She added, “I’ve spent the past two decades unintentionally conflating an abstract idea of men with my understanding of God… A significant part of my personality was built around...

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare Review: Why so serious?
Image
Plot: Wendy Darling strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from ‘the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.’ Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who will be seen taking heroin, believing that it’s pixie dust.

Review: It’s always very ambitious for a franchise to announce its plans way ahead of time. It certainly has bit Marvel on the butt, but if you’re going to parody their release schedule, you have to do things full bore. And I think most of us at least chuckled when the Poohniverse was announced. So smack dab in the middle of their release lies Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, a horror take on the J.M. Barrie classic. And it’s a hell of a lot darker than expected.

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is a very dark and twisted take on Peter Pan as he sucks the souls out of children to remain youthful.

Is the Honey influencer marketing scam an isolated incident or a sign of a bigger problem?
Image
Ten days before the end of 2024, a YouTuber’s exposé uncovered a shocking scandal in the influencer marketing world. Honey, a PayPal-owned browser extension that has spent millions on creator partnerships, seems to have used those deals to rip off partners, deceive consumers, and engage in fraudulent business practices.

“I can’t even begin to fathom how much money has been lost at the hands of this browser extension.”

That quote comes from a video by Kiwi creator MegaLag, who published a 23-minute takedown of Honey’s shady influencer deals. Some of the biggest creators in the world, ranging from MrBeast to Emma Chamberlain to Marques Brownlee, have shilled for the browser extension. As it turns out, those sponsorships may have done more harm than good for creators.

MegaLag’s video is well worth a watch, but if you’re short on time, here’s the abridged version: Honey...
