10 Best Amanda Bynes Movies And TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Hollywood has seen plenty of child stars come and go, their talents spent on any number of teen sitcoms and romantic comedies before life -- and in many cases tragedy -- pulled them in a different direction. But few if any were as remarkable in their genuine comedic talent as Amanda Bynes, the former Nickelodeon star who disappeared from Hollywood just as she was crossing into a career as a mainstream film actor.

Bynes cut her teeth as a stand-up comic at a very young age before joining the Nick family, frequently working with Dan Schneider, the infamous writer, creator, and mega-producer responsible for a massive portion of the network's success -- he's also the subject of all of Nickelodeon's most harrowing allegations of misconduct and abuse. After working on several projects with Schneider, Bynes appeared in a few movies outside his direct sphere of influence before taking a step back from the entertainment industry.

Former Nickelodeon Star Amanda Bynes Joins OnlyFans – But Promises To Avoid ‘Sleazy Content’
Image
Former Nickelodeon child star Amanda Bynes revealed on her Instagram that she has signed up to use OnlyFans to connect with fans and supporters.

“I’m on OnlyFans now!” Bynes posted on Tuesday on her Instagram Stories. “I’m doing OnlyFans to chat with my fans through Dm’s, I won’t be posting any sleazy content.” The app offers subscriber-only content – much of which is adult – and has attracted celebrities such as Denise Richards, Cardi B, Kate Nash and Lily Allen.

Bynes has also struggled with substance abuse. On March 20, 2023, she was placed in a 72-hour psychiatric hold after she flagged a bystander for help, and she contacted the police with the intention of self-harm. Mental health professionals determined that Bynes required inpatient treatment. She was later released on June 30 with plans for follow-up treatment.

Bynes has set a price for her subscribers at $50 a month to have access to her content,...

Jennie Garth Opens Up About How She Reconnected With Ex Peter Facinelli
Image
Exes Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli have reunited unexpectedly.

Garth recently told E! News how things weren’t ideal for a long time between her and Facinelli, her ex-husband of 12 years. However, after Garth lost her house to the Los Angeles wildfires, the Twilight actor let her and her family shelter at his home. But it was from filming an episode of her I Choose Me podcast in November, which Facinelli was a guest on, that helped them patch up their relationship.

“It really cleared the air for us in a lot of ways,” Garth said before adding how it helped “to reconnect as just people, instead of like a divorced couple, the mom and the dad and not agreeing on stuff.”

Garth admits, “For so many years, it wasn’t as fun as it could have been,” and that they “made it seem like it was great and it was all rainbows and ponies.

Yes, Dan Schneider Was On Head Of The Class — His Character & Acting Career Explained
Image
Dan Schneider, the prolific writer/producer of seminal Nickelodeon shows such as All That, Kenan and Kel, Drake and Josh, and iCarly, has been mired in controversy since 2018. Nickelodeon parted ways with the successful creator after 25 years when an investigation revealed that Schneider had acted inappropriately towards the actors and crew on his shows. The 2024 documentary, Quiet on Set: The Darkside of Children's TV, detailed the allegations, finding that Schneider was verbally abusive towards his cast and writers, often wrote sexually suggestive scenes that fetishized female actresses, and created a hostile working environment.

Although Schneider is best known for his writing, he began his Hollywood career as an actor. Schneider appeared in several 1980s comedies, including Hot Resort, Making the Grade, the cult classic Better Off Dead, and the underrated Christopher Guest film The Big Picture, starring Kevin Bacon. His most prominent acting role, however, was on the classic sitcom Head of the Class,...

Bethany Joy Lenz Was Warned ‘One Tree Hill’ Was About ‘F—ing and Sucking’ Before Signing On, Compares Creator to Her Cult Leader
Image
Bethany Joy Lenz isn’t only opening up about her experience in the Big House Family cult. In her new book, “Dinner for Vampires,” the actor details about her time as Haley James (later Scott) on “One Tree Hill.”

Lenz writes that she initially passed on the WB series since she was focused on doing film and didn’t want to be “stuck on a teen soap.” Eventually, after the actor cast as Haley didn’t work out for the pilot, she was called again; the executive knew her since he’d tried to get her to read for “What I Like About You.”

“The show was marketed toward tween girls, and I was concerned that the big-sister role I was testing for — which eventually went to the lovely Jennie Garth — was a woman living with her boyfriend,” Lenz writes about the Amanda Bynes-led show. “I didn’t want...

Bethany Joy Lenz Recalls Being Cautioned ‘One Tree Hill’ Was About “F***ing & Sucking”: “I Didn’t Feel Too At Risk Of Being Objectified”
Image
Bethany Joy Lenz reflects on the time she landed One Tree Hill and the warning she received the night before her screen test.

In her new memoir, Dinner for Vampires, Lenz recalls initially passing on the opportunity to star in the drama. At the same time, she passed on starring in What I Like About You, opposite Amanda Bynes, as she didn’t want to “normalize living in sin” by playing a character who lives with her boyfriend. The role eventually went to Jennie Garth in the WB sitcom.

Lenz, who was raised as an evangelical Christian, then got a call from her manager relaying a message from an executive the night before she was going to screen test for One Tree Hill.

“I have a direct quote that I’ve been asked to relay to you, to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting into before you sign this contract,...

“I think most of us know that feeling of getting drunk and reaching that point of no return, where the lid just flips and the valves open, and you become an over-sharing, over-emotional, ugly-crying fool, sitting there on the bar bathroom floor asking your friends to hold your hair, do we not? Well, if you do, this might be the messy-girl anthem for you. Sometimes all you need to do is cry until the whole damn place is stuck under water,” Theresa Rex tells.

The track is driven by a simple yet engaging acoustic guitar arrangement, combined with a clever chord progression that makes ‘Ugly Cry’ both impactful and irresistibly catchy.

Beverly Hills, 90210: Ages Of The Main Cast In Season 1 Vs Now
Image
Many of the cast members in Beverly Hills, 90210 season 1 were significantly older than their characters, which was a source of criticism when the show first aired. By the time the show concluded that characters had become adults, which made the age difference between cast and character less noticeable. While it's difficult to look past when revisiting the show in the 2020s, the practice of getting adults to play teenagers was the norm when 90210 debuted in the 1990s.

While Beverly Hills, 90210 is one of the most iconic teen sitcoms ever to grace the small screen, a common criticism of the show concerned how old the cast of 90210 was. Set in West Beverly High, a fictional high school in an affluent area of Los Angeles, California, all the main characters were high school students, which means they should have been about 16 when the show began. Yet many actors...

Quiet on Set: Trailer for the documentary exposing Dan Schneider’s behavior at Nickelodeon revealed

Those of us who grew up watching Nickelodeon’s 90s slate of shows are about to be shocked to know how bad things actually were behind the scenes. When the kids’ network added more than cartoons and children’s entertainers/game shows to their schedule, it seemed like the channel was really reaching its audience by having shows for kids and featuring kids. It would make the network much hipper, and the man behind it all was Dan Schneider. Formerly a teen actor on the 80s sitcom Head of the Class, Schneider struck it big when he produced the sketch show, All That, which was in the vein of Saturday Night Live but with younger comedian performers.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the trailer for the new docuseries from Investigation Discovery. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV is a four-part series that will be exploring all the...

Nickelodeon Alums Allege Toxic Environment on Dan Schneider TV Shows in New Doc Trailer
Image
A trailer for Investigation Discovery’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has revealed new allegations against prolific Nickelodeon showrunner Dan Schneider.

The four-part series investigates the career of Schneider, who created Nickelodeon hit programs like The Amanda Show, What I Like About You, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, Victorious and Sam & Cat, and who helped launch the careers of Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Victoria Justice, Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy and others.

“Working for Dan was like being in an abusive relationship,” a former employee who is not named claims in the trailer. “There was a toxic environment. It made me trust people less,” another Nickelodeon alum alleged.

The ID series cites Schneider’s upbeat kids TV output for shaping the popular genre for a generation. But Quiet on Set, directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz, also alleges behind the scenes that underage stars and crew were treated inappropriately.

In our Q&a series Popsugar Crush, we get to know some of our favorite celebs' more intimate details - from their ideal first date to their most romantic gesture. This month, we're crushing on "School Spirits" star Milo Manheim.

Milo Manheim is playing dead. Literally. In the actor's new Paramount+ series, "School Spirits," Manheim embodies an '80s jock à la Emilio Estevez's Andrew Clark in "The Breakfast Club," ruling over his high school hallways with equal parts charm and vapidness. The twist, though, is that Manheim's Wally is deceased - long deceased. Wally is one of a handful of ghosts trapped in the afterlife. And while he's seemingly made peace with being confined to the bleachers and reliving his football heyday, Wally is forced to buck up in the first few episodes of "School Spirits" that are now streaming: he must...

American Horror Story Season 11 Cast & Character Guide
Image
Ryan Murphy brought back a few familiar faces to a new location for the American Horror Story season 11 cast and characters. American Horror Story Season 11: NYC, is set in New York City, apparently in the 1970s and '80s, focusing on the LGBTQ+ community as a threatening serial killer looms. It’s unclear whether American Horror Story season 11 will connect to previous installments of the franchise, but the New York City setting and time jumps suggest there will be room for overlap if the franchise chooses that route.

There are some notable names missing from the impressive cast of American Horror Story season 11, subtitled New York City, including franchise staples Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy. However, in addition to some new AHS actors and frequent Ryan Murphy collaborators, American Horror Story: NYC’s cast boasts returning actors like Billie Lourd, Denis O’Hare, Leslie Grossman,...

Here’s What’s Leaving HBO Max in January 2023
Treat Williams, Gregory Smith, and Emily VanCamp in Everwood (2002)
HBO Max may (hopefully) be done randomly pulling original series from the service, but there are still a number of TV shows and films due to leave HBO Max in January as part of the regularly scheduled shuffling.

Multiple seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” will leave HBO Max on Jan. 3, so get those final binge-watches in Asap. And the beloved WB series “Everwood” is due to depart on Jan. 21 if you feel like seeing what young Chris Pratt was up to in the early 2000s.

In terms of movies leaving HBO Max, there are quite a lot. “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” turns into a ghost on Jan. 20, while Jon M. Chu’s delightful musical “In the Heights” leaves on Jan. 27.

Noteworthy films leaving HBO Max on Jan. 31 include the first three “John Wick” movies, the first three “Jurassic Park” films, the first two installments in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise,...

How ‘The Dropout’ Music Supervisor Crafted a 2010s Time Capsule With Katy Perry and Lil Wayne
Image
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “The Dropout” on Hulu.

When crafting the soundtrack for Hulu’s “The Dropout,” music supervisor Maggie Phillips and show creator Elizabeth Meriwether sought out, as Phillips puts it, “songs that scream 2010.”

Set between 2003 and 2018, “The Dropout” chronicles the rise and fall of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried), as she goes from founding a medical technology company worth 9 billion to being indicted for fraud. Based on the ABC News podcast of the same name, the limited series has been critically lauded for its writing, acting and music, which incorporates everything from Katy Perry’s “Firework” to Lil Wayne’s “How to Love.”

Phillips, who supervised the show with coordinators Kristen Higuera and Andrew Brady, was drawn to it because she had never worked on a project with music that came out during her adult years.

“[It’s] a time period that I knew very well,...

Even Simon Rex’s personal “Red Rocket” is a work of art.

Since the film premiered at Cannes, there’s been much ado about the actor’s manhood as seen on the screen — including at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, where Rex won Best Male Lead.

“I finally had to let it be known,” Rex told People about the prosthetic.

Rex plays former porn star-turned-con man Mikey Saber in Sean Baker’s “Red Rocket.” The pandemic-shot film features a slew of nude scenes for Rex, who got his start as a model for Calvin Klein, Levi’s, and Versace before appearing in the “Scary Movie” franchise and “What I Like About You.”

While at the 33rd Producers Guild of America Awards, Rex explained that he “wasn’t allowed” to take home his favorite phallic prop.

“I don’t think that was an option, but it will be in a museum one day,...
