Alicia Hannah-Kim has been working steadily in movies and television for years, and her hard work has begun to pay off in the 2020s with some major roles in notable shows and movies. Born in Sydney, Australia, Hannah-Kim began her acting career in 2003, with a small role in White Collar Blue. Parts came somewhat slowly for Hannah-Kim afterward, and she only appeared in minor roles or as unnamed characters for the next few years. However, every once in a while, she would score a memorable part in a popular show like Grey's Anatomy.
Over the 2010s, the Korean Australian actress has built an ever-growing resume, appearing in more movies and TV shows every year, usually in more substantial parts. In the 2020s, it appears that Hannah-Kim has finally broken into some real stardom with significant parts in shows like Minx and Cobra Kai. In her personal life, Hannah-Kim married Sebastian...

For the best part of 20 years Chris Blackburn tried his hand at writing film scripts, a sideline to his day jobs as a newspaper and TV reporter, reality show producer and, currently, as a co-executive producer on Big Brother.
Eighteen months ago he had an idea for a crime drama about a young man whose sister has been brutally murdered, set primarily in a row of vacant houses near his home on the north coast of Nsw.
Blackburn wrote the script and asked his son Tim, a TV editor who has directed several short films to direct. Entitled Burns Point, the film is now in day seven of a 21-day shoot in and around the town of Ballina.
Asked how he.s financed the film, Chris tells If, .It.s mostly me. I.ve saved up for this and put money aside." Cast and crew are working on deferred. fees in some cases.

Don Hany, an established Australian TV actor who is virtually unknown in the U.S., has been tapped as the male lead in ABC’s medical drama pilot Warriors, from writer Chris Keyser, Mandeville TV and ABC Studios. Inspired by the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, Warriors follow the best and brightest active-duty military doctors and nurses as they practice trailblazing medicine. Hany will play trauma surgeon George Mann, who can’t stop taking care of these men, though it nearly breaks his heart, every day. This marks the first major Hollywood gig for Hany, who doesn’t have U.S. representation yet. He is well known in Australia, where he has a long list of TV and film credits, including series White Collar Blue and film Lucky Miles. He is getting strong early reviews for his starring role in Craig Monahan’s feature Healing. Repped in Australia by Shanahan Management.

ABC’s new series The Straits has had a slow ratings start to its ten episode run.
Produced by Matchbox Pictures, producers of last year’s success The Slap, The Straits movie length premiere averaged 599,000, peaking at 696,000 viewers last night, according to preliminary ratings by Oztam.
Matchbox Pictures’ creative director Penny Chapman spoke to Encore in January: “It’s the violence and the black humour that is going to make this pretty special. I’ve not made a show like this – maybe blue murder but the Straits’ humour is quite enjoyable. Young men respond to it strongly. It’s a real blokes show. And for the ABC that’s great because young men don’t watch the ABC.”
The Straits is based on an idea by Aaron Fa’aoso which has been developed by a team of writers, including: AFI winning Louis Nowra (Cosi, K-19: The Widowmaker, Radiance); Blake Ayshford (Crownies,...

Freya Stafford has revealed that she was involved in a horrific bike crash last year. The Australian actress, who is best known for her roles in White Collar Blue and Small Claims, is poised to join the cast of Neighbours only ten months after flipping her push bike while riding near her home. Stafford told The Daily Telegraph: "I went over the handle bars, breaking my jaw and half my face. I was in shock, but I remember thinking, 'Oh my face, that's kind of important'. It took ages for my jaw to open again. I had to eat everything through a straw for a long time." She also revealed that she landed a role (more)...

The Hangover: Part Two
Opens: May 26th 2011
Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifinakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong
Director: Todd Phillips
Summary: Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned.
Analysis: It really wasn't until about three months before its release that Warner Brothers realised "The Hangover" was going to be a hit. Test screening response was through the roof, while the trailer had great reaction after premiering at ShoWest and online. About that time they commissioned director Todd Phillips, along with his "Old School" and "Road Trip" scribe Scot Armstrong, to pen a sequel. Yet they still waited to see how the first one went before fully committing to the follow-up.
The wait didn't last long.

Nicholas Bishop, Rose Byrne and Alex O'Loughlin are only several Australian actors making a dent on the small screen.
Here are eight actors who are going strong on TV:
>> Nicholas Bishop, "Body of Proof"
A decade of consistent work in some quality Australian TV dramas, including "Water Rats" and "White Collar Blue" and indie features followed Bishop's 1996 graduation form the National Institute of Dramatic Art. But it was a recurring role as Detective Peter Baker in the long-running Aussie Soap "Home and Away" that brought him the profile and press which led to his casting in Warner/Fox's short-lived "Past Lives." This season he's starring opposite Dana Delany in NBC's "Body of Proof" as former cop-turned-medical examiner.
>> Rose Byrne, "Damages"
Byrne must rate as the busiest Aussie working in Hollywood. She's currently filming "X-Men: First Class," recently completed the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Bridesmaids" and stars opposite Patrick Wilson in "Insidious,...

Aussie post house expands
SYDNEY -- Australian production, postproduction and TV broadcasting company Omnilab Group has over the last two weeks expanded its empire through the acquisition of post companies Island Films and Ambience Entertainment. The purchases are consummate with the group's strategic positioning as a one-stop-shop for clients. Island's credits include the Ten TV drama series White Collar Blue and miniseries Jessica as well as the features Rabbit Proof Fence and Looking for Alibrandi. "The move with the Omnilab Group is designed to further develop TV drama and feature post production for both companies and will cater well to those producers who are interested in the increasing trend of looking for a package deal," said Simon Dibbs, manager of Island Films, in a statement Tuesday.
