Josh Hartnett, Rose Byrne, and Diane Kruger in Rencontre à Wicker Park (2004)

Review by ejfcmt

Rencontre à Wicker Park

1/10

Ugh...114 minutes of my life I will never get back!!!

I went to see this movie alone, as all my friends decided to go camping and I just wanted to enjoy a show on my own. It is 114 minutes of my life I will never get back!!! EVER! It was a terrible movie. I haven't seen the original, but since I am not the biggest fan of a lot of Hollywood cinema these days, I would bet the French knew what they were doing.

First thing I did after watching this movie, was wish that I could get my money back, then call a friend to tell them how horrible this movie was. I never do that, but I did that day. Hartnett was unconvincing, and just didn't pull it off for me. Lillard was more creepy and would have made more sense to be cast as the creepy-stalker guy, but since Hollywood sees it best to cast what they consider the "better looking" leading man, as opposed to casting appropriately, we get Hartnet, who just tried to look pretty in front of the camera. Reverse that casting, and you may have had a better movie.

The experience of seeing this movie in the theater haunts me to this day.
