    This film ROCKS!

This film ROCKS! Totally creepy with some scenes having a scary Blair Witch type feel to it. Maybe because it was from the guy who did "The Blair Witch Project"? It has naked chicks, creepy scenes and beautiful shots of New Orleans. But anyway, the film is about these three college girls who decide to road trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Once they get there, things go terribly wrong. A voodoo cult is kidnapping college girls and performing voodoo rituals on them. Good work from the writers Mr. Daniel Zirilli and Carl Washington. They definitely knew where to put suspenseful moments at in the script. This film should be in movie theaters. It was that good! I look forward to seeing the sequel and hope that these guys team up together to bring more cool movies like this one was. I definitely give this a 10! CHECK IT OUT!

Renamed to curse of Mardi gras

I guess they renamed it going someone would rewatch it again by accident. Honestly... It's bad. Cinematography, acting, story... All bad. But in a hilarious way. It's not quite b movie quality with the gore and over the top acting but that's because it couldn't get to that level.

I have it five stars because the cheesiness of this kind of film is always awesome to me but it's by no means good.

    This makes my brain hurt.

    What a piece of crap.

I mistakenly rented this while trying to rent Cube (a much, much better film). I can only assume someone had placed it behind the Cube box as a joke, but since I had already paid for this movie, I thought I may as well watch it.

I haven't had this much trouble sitting through a movie to its completion since Gummo. There is no plot to speak of, no special effects whatsoever, no good dialogue, no good acting, and chock full of ridiculous stereotypes. They could have let these people read their lines from cue cards and it would've been just as effective.

The plot begins with three college girls (who are, at least, attractive) going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Apparently some "voodoo cult" composed of a scrawny black bartender, overweight white loser, and some other people whose faces we don't see (could it be because they are re-using actors from other roles?) has been kidnapping college girls every Mardi Gras.

In the confusing mess that follows, one of the girls' sister dies, one of the girls is kidnapped, a redheaded girl somehow joins the group, and the rest of them are kidnapped by the "cult." This cult apparently just smears blood all over their victims with chicken legs. The girls are "rescued" by the strangest undercover police officer ever, some seemingly incompetent police officers, and their escaped friend.

Best scene in the movie? The black girl putting a gun between one of the cult members' legs and yelling "Is this what you were lookin for, mutha-F***A??" It reminded me of Dolemite, and that's always a good thing.

Mercifully, this only lasts about 70 minutes, but a long 70 minutes those are. Any more and I believe my mental faculties may have shut down completely.

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time!

After reading the one comment for this film, which was a glowing recommendation, I have to wonder which member of the production team posted it, because no normal viewer would have written such a positive review.

Where do I begin? The plot, such as it is, has a group of girls going to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and then being kidnapped one by one by a voodoo cult. There are no special effects to speak of unless you count all the flashes of random scenes done in shaky black & white and repeated endlessly. The 'actors' in this film consist of a bunch of amateurs who deliver their lines as if reading them off cue-cards. I've seen more warmth and feeling in commercials. The only person who displayed any hint of acting ability at all was the black detective (I missed the actor's name). The rest rarely rise above the level you'd expect to find in an X-rated video. In fact, this movie strongly resembles a typical adult film, only without sex or much nudity.

Long sequences of this 'movie' (it was only 70 minutes) are devoted to the girls changing clothes, the girls dancing in their room, the girls walking the streets, the girls going up and down stairs, nature footage that looks like it came from a documentary, and endlessly repeating shots of things that have nothing to do with the current scene, all set to profanity-laden rap music in an obvious attempt to pad the running time out to something approaching movie-length.

Most of the rest of the scenes are ridiculous. Upon hearing a noise at night, one of the girls goes out alone in her underwear to investigate. When setting out to rescue their friends, which is supposed to involve a trek through the swamp, they don't even bother to change out of their high heels. They first have to go to the local cemetery which is apparently located out in the middle of nowhere since there are endless shots of them walking through the country. When they finally encounter the voodoo cult, it consists of three guys wearing robes who perform their rituals in a run-down shack. Said rituals involve taking off some of the girls' clothes and randomly smearing them with blood.

I can honestly say that the most entertaining portion of this film was the short behind the scenes section during the end credits. At least they looked like they were having fun. While I'm sure everyone involved probably thought they were doing a good job, they should have watched some real horror movies as research, rather than just copying the style of movies you might see on the Playboy channel.

    PURE, UNADULTERATED.......

    Garbagio!

I don't even want to waste life commenting... just don't bother renting it... it's not gory, not scary and not well done....

    Definitely one to bypass.

I'm only writing more cause I have to provide 10 lines of comment to have this posted. There is nothing to say other than I'm glad it was a freebie at blockbuster... no.... actually, my free rental was wasted STILL!!

The acting is horrid, the cinematography non-existent, the kill scene made with red ink (look like it anyway)... whatever you're looking for is NOT in this movie, unless it's a badd experience you seek. BLAIR WITCH 2 was even better than this... heck BW2 looks pretty great in comparison. This is not a B-Movie... it's an M movie for moronic.

    DOO-DOO!!
