This time last year, Joni Mitchell was Zooming in to Clive Davis’ virtual Grammy party — kicking off the night with wine and dressed in finery, and then, as the hours wore on, kicking back to watch performers in pajamas, with popcorn and her trusty ginger cat Bootsy in tow. (Bootsy was named after Puss and Boots if you must know — and we must.)
This year, however, she strides down the red carpet in Las Vegas in a sparkling shawl and beret at the Grammys’ MusiCares Person of the Year event — for which,...

“It’s kind of a blurry moment,” Jake Thomsen says of the second host Rocsi Diaz named him the winner of “Alter Ego,” Fox’s reality TV singing competition where contestants belt it out backstage while motion capture technology creates digital avatars in their place onstage. Thomsen performed as Dipper Scott and won over judges will.i.am, Alanis Morissette, Grimes and Nick Lachey to become the Season 1 champ and winner of a $100,000 cash prize. Watch our exclusive video interview with Thomsen (Aka Dipper Scott) above.
“I just remember it being whittled down from four, to three, to two and thinking, ‘There’s no way that I’m actually gonna win this,'” Thomsen explains. “So when [Rocsi] announced it I feel like I fell to the ground. I actually don’t remember what happened. I just remember being like, ‘This is insane!'” (Read our minute-by-minute recap of the season finale.

There’s no mania like Beatlemania, and Peter Jackson’s The Beatles: Get Back is both proof of that, and a direct consequence of it. A lot of the reviews said it was an overlong and unnecessary affair. Well, Disney+ let Jackson include swearing in the documentary, so, fuck them. He prefers his own 18-hour cut to this just-under-eight-hour documentary series, and he’s “right and will be proved right,” to paraphrase John Lennon.
Is it an important document? Yes. Does it give Beatlemaniacs everything they want? Of course not, nothing will.
For one thing, he doesn’t give us a full version of Paul McCartney’s “Teddy Boy,” which came close to making the playlist. We also don’t get the satisfaction of hearing entire versions of “The Long and Winding Road,” “Let It Be,” or any of the other final album songs not performed on the roof. We...

Olivia Rodrigo could have been designed in a laboratory as the perfect teen pop star — except the best part is how gloriously, messily, authentically human she is. She’s a whole new pop-queen paradigm, ripping up the old playbook and starting again. She seemingly blew in out of nowhere to hit Number One with her instant-classic debut single, “Drivers License.” It’s one of the all-time great debuts — yet somehow the sequels, “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U,” are even better? And the first of those sequels is about taunting her...

On “The Voice” season 18 finale on Tuesday, Todd Tilghman pulled off a win over Thunderstorm Artis, who had been the frontrunner all season long. In our overnight poll, 31% of those weighing in wanted Thunderstorm to win and think that he was robbed of the season 18 title. Todd did not merit a majority of votes from “The Voice” fans and has only 39% of the total tally as of this writing.
Toneisha Harris, who made “The Voice” history as the first Instant Save artist in the final not to be eliminated at the outset, is at 21%. The other two contenders in the Top 5 registered in the single digits: CammWess (5%) and Micah Iverson (4%).
What do you think? Did Todd Tilghman deserve to win “The Voice”? Or do you think Thunderstorm Artis was robbed of the season 18 championship? Even though he lost on May 19, this singer from Hawaii could end up the big winner.

In the lead-up to “The Voice” finale on Monday (May 18), we polled viewers to see who they want to win. Their clear favorite in our Top 5 rankings of the season 18 artists is Thunderstorm Artis, who enjoys a sizeable lead with 37% of the total tally as of this writing. He is being coached by rookie Nick Jonas.

The Live Playoffs for Season 18 of “The Voice” concluded last Tuesday, leaving nine artists in contention for the title. One member from each team was voted through by America and each coach then had a chance to save another artist they wanted to move forward. That left Blake Shelton, John Legend, Nick Jonas and Kelly Clarkson each with two artists on their teams before the live instant save.
In that instant save leading into the semifinals, the remaining member from each team with the most audience votes earned a chance to compete. Joanna Serenko from Team Blake ended up defeating Mandi Castillo from Team Legend, Michael Williams from Team Nick and Cedrice from Team Kelly. That bumps Team Blake up to three contenders, but does that increase his odds of winning his seventh title?
