There is some good scenery and winter sports footage. However, I have to agree with the first comment that this will not be remembered by many as a classic. The one saving grace of this movie - which, for me, will always make it memorable - was the film debut of Simone Müterthies. Famous for her appearances in Maxim and Max, not to mention countless big name advertisements, Cosmo and all the top fashion magazines; Simone slides elegantly onto the the screen and dominates every scene in which she appears, with her extraordinary presence and beauty. Of German extraction but living in France, her accent is completely convincing. There is one love scene which I found uncomfortable (was that just jealousy?). If ever you get the chance to see this film - watch it just for her! I would certainly watch it again.
i don't agree with the majority that has underevaluated this movie.
of course the scenario/storyline may be a little bit weak.
but i don't think this is enough to underevaluate the film to the degree it has been done here in IMDb.
in my opinion, there is some artistic aspects that should be taken into consideration in the film: the music is really beautiful, very well made, and fits a lot to the situations.
the photography is also excellent, showing sometimes particles of snow and other times the beautiful sun...
finally, the scene with the boy and girl snowboarding together and the perfect music accompanying their going down, the helicopter shooting camera, ... it makes me cry as it symbolises at its higher degree the sensation of freedom, beauty and youth.
this is how this film should be seen, i believe.

Let's face it: this has probably been made to fill nice winter sports. The snowboard sequences are admittedly exciting (for those who like that kind of pastime)but the rest is could-not-care-less acting, directing and editing.
The script looks like a poor man's "Point Break " (1991),snowboarding replacing surfing, which does not make a big difference.Even the bad deeds of the soon-to-be-has-been star are the same.An ominous music would like us to believe something threatening is in the air. It's also full of filler:nightclub scenes complete with topless dancers and horrible music ,girls school (?) ,tribal rites(?) with grimacing masks..
This flick was broadcast at 1AM:how to get rid of a dud unbeknownst to the audience.

the actors are bad, let s face it the direction could be better, the script is not so bad but nothing that could leave you impressed so what is this impression in the end of the film? ok, that is not a very good film, but still, i appreciated it more thant i objectively should, perhaps, one single time the whole thing is better than the summ of its parts
this one is not bad. but not a great one either. i think its nice. maybe even good.
first thing nice: some kind of moderate plot, there is even a message in it, i was surprised!!! second... whats made really good: sound. mmm sound and.... sound! No, im not talking about the soundtrack. the sound really lets you ride the boards they are riding. its what made me feel some kind of empathy to the characters(what somehow compensates for bad acting), and endure the bad parts of this movie. but then... if you were never snowboarding, then its just sound effects. well... if i was a director and i wanted some realistic sound effects, i would definitively hire the guy that was this films sound recorder. and what else is there. the "love-plot" is just s**t. you could as well cut out those scenes, it makes some part in the movies message, but is too underdeveloped. then you got the great swiss and french mountains, which i cannot judge, since i love them. and then you can see some kind of lifestyle in those regions its nice and contributes to the message, but as said before, is underdeveloped.
this could have been a good movie, but somewhere along the way they messed it up. still, i would watch it, if i haven't seen in yet.
and probably ill watch it again. after all, it is called snowboarder, and if you are a snowboarder, you should watch it.
