A waste of time

Unlike some recent movies coming from Iran that move you through their plot and daring expression of pain and suffering of women and young generation, House on the Water is a big disappointment. I purchased the DVD because of my familiarity with Entezami's acting ability and was hoping that this movie would be similar to his many great movies he has done in the past. Although he well in this movie, but House on the Water was overall, a waste of time. There is a small part by Jamshid Mashayekhi another great Iranian actor. But Entezami and Mashayekhi's presence is not enough to carry the movie.

One of the best Iranian movies of 2002

This movie shows us the life of a doctor who is ruining his life day by day. The movie shows some of the problems of Iranian society today very well, and all actors did a brilliant job. The movie is a bit metaphorical, and it might not make sense at first, but thats part of the beauty of the film. It is up to the viewer to decide what happened and what will happen. Kianian gained a lot of weight to play the main role, and rightfully receive the Crystal Simorgh (Iranian Oscar) award for best male actor in a leading role. If you have been to Iran, and want to see a good description of today's Iran get this movie right away!

sophisticated film

you should not expect to see a story but you can see a sophisticated movie with excellent snapshots of our everyday's life.

In fact, if you are not familiar with Iranian culture and belief you wont understand the whole film.

Zaman means time and Miss Zamanian who is shown on the film is symbolic presence of fate.

We all are playing games that we do not have a complete control over it though we would like to think that we do.

This film could not make a good integrity between the reality that we see and the reality that exist, something that is understandable.
