Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo. These four pizza-loving, butt-kicking turtles began their cinematic journey with three action-comedies in the 1990s. These films might not appear to be that logical or nuanced in today's times, but the sheer goofiness and nostalgia in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy is why they are still loved by fans today.

From the turtles' suits to the soundtracks, there are many memorable aspects of these films. It's perhaps for reasons like these that the original trilogy has been more impactful as compared to the 2007 CGI-driven Tmnt and the two Michael Bay-produced reboots.

Wolverine #6 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Viktor Bogdanovic | Colourist: Matthew Wilson | Letters: Cory Petit
Right away I found it very annoying this didn’t pick up immediately with the rainbow bridge reveal of last issue. That all probably happened in a different comic. Wolverine #6 is after all part 3 of a 22 part story taking place over how many series? Despite all this baggage the issue works both as part of a larger story and more importantly as a Wolverine story. To top all that off I actually found it very accessible having not read any other X of Swords tie-ins. The issue follows to stories. The first of which is Wolverine and his quest for Muramasa. The second thread follows War and Pestilence of Four Horsemen of Apocolypse fame as they reaquiant themselves and introduce the readers to new villain Solem. Of the two I actually prefered the second non Wolverine centric story elements.

Sad news has come in at the start of the weekend as it has been reported that veteran voice actor Kirby Morrow has passed away. Known for appearing in Stargate Atlantis and voicing Cyclops in Marvel's animated series X-Men: Evolution among dozens of other animated roles, word of Morrow's death comes from the Stargate fansite GateWorld. Per the website, Morrow's brother Casey announced that the 47-year-old actor had passed away, but no cause of death has yet been revealed.
"Kirby was a blessed and talented individual who brought joy to so many but also thrived off all your love and friendship. He lived for it and it fueled him every day," Casey said of his late brother.
An Alberta, Canada native, Morrow was born on Aug. 28, 1973. By the mid-90s, he had launched what would become a very prolific career in acting, starting with live-action roles in television shows like...

Who is Dawn Moreno? She's the new Snake-Eyes and break-out character of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero! Scripted by legendary G.I. Joe writer Larry Hama, with art by incoming artist Netho Diaz (Aquaman), issue #246 marks the beginning of the "Dawn of the Arashikage" storyline, which sees Dawn, a Mexican-American teenager, take on the mantle of Snake-Eyes, one of the most iconic members of the G.I. Joe team. This pivotal issue in Hama's long-running G.I. Joe saga has now sold out at the distributor level, as have the preceding issues #244 (featuring Dawn's first appearance in costume) and #245 (Dawn's first cover appearance in costume as Snake-Eyes).
Dawn Moreno, who debuted in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #226, was once a gifted high school athlete whose unique physical abilities drew the attention of Cobra Commander. The Cobra elite put Dawn under intense experimentation, accidentally implanting the memories of the original...

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and their new Entertainment Lab in Burbank, CA. I chatted with Chris Young, Senior Vice President for the Entertainment Lab; Chris Savino, creator of The Loud House; and Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz, creator of Shimmer and Shine. I played around in their newly developed immersive and interactive Vr experience; sat in on a recording session for Shimmer and Shine; stopped in to say hi to Ciro Nieli, executive producer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and see his cool office; and viewed all kinds of creativity in progress during the studio tour.
And let me tell you: the experience was awesome.
As in, so awesome, I’m wondering how Alternate Me could get a job there. Because let’s be honest – there are office jobs that look like The Office, and then there are workplaces like Nickelodeon, which has slime stairs, a SpongeBob wall,...

There’s hardly a more potent neurochemical within the modern entertainment experience than that of nostalgia. It provides sanctity to that which can no longer be changed, the good ol’ franchises becoming even better as they are imbued with more purity and truth; in which we can refine past thoughts to be comparatively warmer to the cynicism we may feel for what we experience, in the present.
Nostalgia is an incredibly active force in contemporary films. In the form of references made in dialogue or through visuals, it is often how fantastical movies are able to buddy buddy their fictional characters with audiences, placing them within our active context. Guardians of the Galaxy deals heavy doses of nostalgia to its audience as its bid to be welcomed, but does so with such desperation that it panders to its original quality as an “offbeat” mainstream experience. Considering the creation of its lead human surrogate,...

In honor of Friday’s release of the rebooted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles we’re going back to our childhood memories of Tmnt in a big way: Toys! Chances are if you were a kid in the late 80’s and throughout the 90’s, you had some awesome toys from Tmnt and will recognize most of our selection’s below.
The list could be endless but we only allowed ourselves to pick four each, it was a hard task. As a child you would search high and low at Toys R Us, looking for that rare Shredder or Splinter that never seemed to arrive. Sure they had a plethora of Foot Soldiers, but who the heck wants more than two of those?
Show us or tell us about your favorite Tmnt toy memories via Twitter, Facebook, or in the comments below, oh and Cowabunga!

A ton of awesome comic book characters have been introduced to us over the years, but not all of these characters were created for the comics. There are a handful of them that were created for other media before they found their way into the comic universes of Marvel and DC. Here is a list of ten comic characters that you may or may not know originated outside of the comics.
Harley Quinn[Television] Batman: The Animated Series
That's right folks, everyone's favorite sadistic Joker sidekick wasn't introduced into Batman's Rogues Gallery until Batman: The Animated Series. She was an instant classic! The first comic she appeared in was The Batman Adventures #12 in September of 1993. Over the years she has had her own series and also teamed up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman several times to beat down on Batman. She is my favorite female villain of all time.

Remember the good old days? Way back when a talented individual would have an original idea, and make a movie out of it? Those halcyon days of discovery and entertainment might just have disappeared a little further back into the mists of time, as Paramount has revealed their intention to remake the 1985 Joe Dante classic, Explorers, with a script written by Geoff Moore and Dave Posamentier (Better Living Through Chemistry).
It seems to have become more and more ‘on trend’ to mine back-catalogues for titles deemed ripe for a robust ‘re-imagining’. Having endured second shots at films such as Red Dawn, Conan The Barbarian, About Last Night, Carrie and RoboCop in recent years, we still have Annie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to look forward to. Not to mention The Crow, Point Break, and even Flatliners, at some point in the future. Now, we can add to that list the tiny,...

Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray Review
The second installment of the Thor saga has plenty of action, but misses the mark to a certain extent when it comes to the wide array of facets it hopes to infuse into the story. The dedication to, and belief in, the depth and breadth of the various arcs in the story are solidified in the bonus features of the home release, and while the exposition makes for elaborate and detailed featurettes, they probably serve as too clear a sign of what went wrong with the production.
Thor: The Dark World kicks off with a rather clunky piece of development that leaves Thor explaining the events of The Avengers, his time back on Earth, and subsequent lack of phone call to Jane. Of course, the film also needs a villain to come and destroy a good chunk of the map and/or threaten to do same,...

Pax East was the place to see (and play) the hottest games for the PC and consoles. Fans of pen and paper plus collectable games were also covered. But iOS and Android had its fair share of presence as well. Like Usagi Yojimbo: The Way of the Ronin , a smart phone game based upon Stan Sakai's most well known and beloved character. It's actually been out for a couple of weeks now, though the game was recently updated. Among the many necessary fixes were performance enhancements across every supported device, plus the size of the app itself has been slimmed down considerably. The game itself is a side-scrolling brawler. Think Streets of Rage , though the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game is a better comparison. The graphics are actually quite superb; sprites are nice...

HappyGiant and Dark Horse Comics today announced "Usagi Yojimbo: Way of The Ronin" for iPhone and iPad. The game, which is "coming soon" to Android devices and PC, is now available for iOS.

Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover are all nice. The hoverboards didn’t really fly. The Delorean was small and uncomfortable.
Now, can you please leave Tom Wilson alone?

The long rumoured sequel to Midnight Run 2 might just be pressing ahead. And Brett Ratner is apparently in talks to direct...
I like to think that, at some point last week, Michael Bay and Brett Ratner got together for a drink. The topic of conversation? How to start baiting movie nerds again.
“I’ve got it!”, piped up Bay. “I’ll talk for 16 seconds about a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, and see if I can melt the Internet!”. “You going to throw in that alien shit?”, asked Ratner. “Hell yes!”, retorted Bay, as he downed his luxurious cocktail and promptly threw the gauntlet down to Ratner. “You’re going to have to do something to top that”, he smirked.
Midnight Run 2, then.
It’s a project that’s been in quiet gestation for a little while, having been talked about to not much warmth a year or two ago.

It’s not every day that an Eisner Award-winner teams up with a Los Angeles streetwear company, but judging by Stan Sakai’s collaboration with The Hundreds, it might not be a bad idea. The Hundreds will release two t-shirts Saturday, November 21 at their flagship store in Los Angeles and their store in San Francisco celebrating the 25th anniversary of Stan Sakai’s series "Usagi Yojimbo."
For those who haven't tapped into the world of "Usagi Yojimbo" yet, Miyamoto Usagi is a rabbit ronin samurai (the series' title translates to rabbit bodyguard in Japanese, kids), and the main character of Sakai’s long-running Dark Horse comic series. Sakai created the character in 1987 and modeled him after legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
