Dino Crisisfans have waited patiently for Capcom to return to the cult-classic survival-horror franchise and it finally seems like that the developer is ready to unleash the beasts. Following the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, players have been hopeful that Capcom will eventually give Dino Crisis the same treatment. Given how the franchises share a great deal of DNA, it stands to reason that giving Regina and her scaly enemies an upgrade wouldn't be too far out of the question.
Per Gematsu on X (formerly Twitter), Capcom filed a trademark for Dino Crisis on March 4 in Japan, suggesting that the studio is planning on returning to the series in some form. Aside from the trademark's existence, nothing else is known about the potential project but this news does come after Dino Crisis was voted, in an official Capcom poll, as the series fans...

Science fiction films are a staple of modern Hollywood's slate of blockbusters, with franchises that feature space-faring adventure, futuristic technology and other-worldly creatures being some of the highest-grossing movies of the last few decades. Science fiction movies also have a long history in Hollywood, dating all the way back to the classic films of Geroge Mellies like A Trip to the Moon.
But many science fiction films do not stand the test of time, or fail to meet the expectations of audiences on release, as evidenced by Roger Ebert's scathing reviews of many of the films he had to see in that genre. The worst that science fiction movies have to offer throw away the genre's roots in telling tales about deep themes, replacing human stories with cheap thrills.

Resident Evilstar Milla Jovovich recently reflected on how she landed her iconic role as Alice in the first feature film adaptation of the fan-favorite survival horror video game franchise. A self-professed fan, the actor, whose career was on an upward trajectory at the time, originally wanted to produce the 2002 movie.
However, Jovovich was asked to read for the role of Alice by Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson, who she went on to marry. "I played the video game a lot with my little brother, and I wanted to produce it. I wanted to make the movie," Jovovich told GQ about a role that turned her into an action movie icon. "And then I found out that my - well, he wasn't my husband then - but this guy had the rights to it."

Sony will release Columbia Pictures’ “Resident Evil” domestically on Sept. 18, 2026.
Based on Capcom’s hugely popular horror video games, Zach Cregger has written the script and will direct. Shay Hatten is co-writing.
Constantin Film is producing and co-financing the film. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon and PlayStation Productions are also producing.
Cregger’s credits as a writer-director include “Miss March,” “The Civil War on Drugs” (both alongside Trevor Moore) and, most recently, “Barbarian.” He also produced the 2025 film “Companion” and is next writing, directing and producing the Josh Brolin- and Julia Garner-led horror film “Weapons” for Warner Bros., out January 2026.
“Cregger’s instinct for suspense is so effective, it’s hard to believe that before ‘Barbarian,’ the helmer worked largely in comedy (he was a member of the Whitest Kids U’Know sketch team). Then again, a deliciously twisted sense of humor runs beneath the surface,...

Lu Bu is often portrayed as one of the most formidable warriors in Chinese history, and Dynasty Warriors: Origins is no exception. You'll encounter Lu Bu several times throughout the main campaign of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, beginning in Chapter Two, but it's not until a pivotal battle much later on that you actually have an opportunity to defeat him. Usually, his sudden appearance means you have little recourse but to flee; he functions a lot like Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 during certain missions, forcing you to abandon strategic points and run for your life.
Finally, during the mission "Battle of Xiapi," you'll be able to face Lu Bu in one-on-one combat, and, with a lot of skill and a little luck, defeat him for good. Just don't expect him to be easy, just as he is in every Dynasty Warriors game where he appears. Lu Bu fully lives up to his reputation,...

Resident Evil, the horror action series that first began in 1996, has had an impressive streak of successful games in the past few years. While the series has gone forward with new plotlines and characters ever since Resident Evil 7 introduced players to Ethan and a new moldy plague to battle against, Capcom has simultaneously gone back to its classic games for current-generation remakes. A game that hasn’t received the remake treatment is the very first Resident Evil, which is now long overdue for a modern update. Since Capcom has yet to announce what its next Resident Evil title is, now would be the perfect time for RE1 to receive a remake.
While not all classic games need an update to appeal to modern audiences, Resident Evil 1 definitely deserves it after the massive success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes. Technically, Resident Evil 1 has already received a remake by Capcom,...

When you read about the films that could, and really should, have been made, you usually hear about Jodorowsky’s Dune, Richard Stanley’s The Island of Dr Moreau and Stanley Kubrick’s Napoleon are among the most frequently mentioned. However, one that should get just as much mention is George A. Romero’s Resident Evil.
Four years before Paul Anderson kicked off his franchise, George Romero, who certainly knew a thing or two about zombie movies, was hired to shoot a commercial for Resident Evil 2. When it was well received, plans were made to have him adapt the property as a feature film. A year later, he was fired from the project by Constantine Films.
Director Brandon Salisbury and co-writer Robbie McGregor devote just under two hours to exploring what happened, starting with his groundbreaking film Night of the Living Dead.

Video game adaptations are quite popular nowadays, but without a doubt, this trend was normalized by the Resident Evil movie series. The series kicked off with the release of 2002’s Resident Evil and ended with 2017’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The franchise was later rebooted but unfortunately, it was not well-received by the fans.

The Resident Evil movie series is a great example of how video games are butchered when adapted into a different medium. The films were average and yet, managed to become the highest-grossing film series based on a video game at one point. The films featured some heavy hitters from Hollywood but no one was as influential as this one musician who almost joined the cast of 2004’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

It’s a well-known fact that the majority of video game adaptations on big screens are usually met with lackluster responses from audiences. Most of the casual theatergoers find them disappointing, and hardcore gamers feel the series didn’t live up to the original games.
Capcom’s horror video game franchise redefined movie adaptations. (Image via Capcom)
However, that wasn’t the case with the Resident Evil series. The original live-action film brought together a number of talented actors and success that led to several sequels. The entire series didn’t receive high praise from critics but would have achieved a lot more if one of the industry’s best horror directors got his hands on it.

This month will be a great time for longtime fans of Resident Evil. A new film chronicling the unmade adaptation that never came to be has a premiere date that's imminent, and it looks to be one that fans won't want to miss.
George A. Romero's Resident Evil will premiere on Digital and On Demand on Jan. 7. From Uncork'd Entertainment and director Brandon Salisbury, the documentary explores the story of the original plans to turn Resident Evil into a feature film under the watch of legendary filmmaker George A. Romero. Famously, Romero laid the groundwork for modern zombie horror movies and TV shows with his iconic films like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead. One of the great "what if?" questions of the horror genre has always been: What if George Romero made Resident Evil? To think that the creator of Night of the Living Dead could have actually directed the 2002 action horror movie is almost unfathomable at this point, but for a moment it was a very real possibility. Its that story of his unmade film thats set to be explored in the new documentary George A. Romeros Resident Evil.
Per Bloody Disgusting, the new doc directed by Brandon Salisbury will hit all VOD platforms on Jan. 7, 2025, and will look to uncover the truth as to why Romeros vision was never brought to life. Featuring archival footage, newly uncovered documents, and fresh interviews with key personalities, George A. Romeros Resident Evil sounds like a must-see for Romero and horror fans alike. The producer behind the upcoming Devil May Cry anime series for Netflix has revealed that the famous hack-and-slash video game franchise wasnt his first pick. According to Adi Shankar, he actually wanted to revive a beloved but forgotten horror survival series from the PlayStation 1 days.
Shankar revealed this piece of history on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. "Dino Crisis 1 nailed the survival horror vibe, blending the tension of Resident Evil with the sheer terror of being hunted by dinosaurs -- perfect," he began. "Dino Crisis 2 took it up a notch with fast-paced action & incredible level design. Sadly, Dino Crisis 3 lost that magic -- it took the franchise off Earth but left behind the suspense. Why am I telling you this? Because when I first went to Capcom in 2017, my mission was clear: I wanted to bring Dino Crisis back."

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster saw the original game in the series return to modern platforms 18 years after its initial release, and eight years after its previous HD remaster. Upon its original release back in 2006, Capcom's title was used to showcase the rendering power of the Xbox 360 with hundreds of zombies appearing on-screen at once. This was achieved by using the Dawn of the Dead-esque premise of survivors trapped in a shopping mall to ensure it was always a busy environment, as players were given the freedom to use a variety of items from different stores to defeat these hordes of the undead, from sporting goods to electric guitars and children's toys, alongside more traditional weapons.

One of gaming's biggest and baddest franchises, Resident Evil, arguably wouldn't exist without the man who revitalized horror and zombie cinema in 1968 with Night of the Living Dead. It only makes sense that at the turn of the millennium, when Capcom partnered with Sony to create a feature film adaptation of their hit zombie video game series, they chose the one and only person best suited for the job: George A. Romero.
Like so many other video game adaptations, though, this would never see the light of day. This left fans with unanswered questions for years and gave the world a series of films largely unfaithful to the source material until Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City tried to remedy their misdeeds. The PlayStation 5 has been riding high since its launch in 2020, but recent reports suggest the console might be losing its grip on the American market. With Sony itself admitting earlier this year that the PS5 is “entering the latter stage of its life cycle,” as well as controversies surrounding the upcoming PS5 Pro’s pricing, it appears the gaming giant may be facing an uphill battle.

When Capcom released its reimagining of Resident Evil 2 in 2019, it was lauded as one of the best horror games ever made. Since then, it’s been the blueprint for other studios to follow for their (many) remakes. Some were successful, like EA’s Dead Space (2023), which kept just enough of its source material’s DNA intact while updating its combat. Others flopped, like Thq Nordic’s Alone in the Dark (2024), which attempted to completely overhaul an outdated 1992 game, but failed to deliver the level of terror of its modern peers.

If read in order, the subtitles of the first six theatrically released "Resident Evil" movies almost ... almost ... spell out a "Divine Comedy"-like story arc. The first film is, naturally, merely called "Resident Evil" (2002), and it's about the release of a deadly, corporate-owned virus that turns the citizens of the world into zombies, creatures, or merely dead corpses. The film's sequel is subtitled "Apocalypse" (2004), implying that the virus escaped containment and infected the Earth. The third film is called "Extinction," implying that the virus did its job and humanity has become extinct. The arc is pretty clear.
What comes after extinction? Well, the fourth film is called "Afterlife" (2010), following the now-dead humanity into Elysium. How apropos. Sadly, the fifth film in the series is not called "Resurrection" or "Reincarnation," but "Retribution" (2012), kind of breaking the spiritual cycle. Perhaps with "Retribution," humanity has become a gaggle of vengeful ghosts? Or perhaps not.

Just over a month to the day that Capcom’s original port of Resident Evil 2 for PC arrived on Gog.com, the service completes the trilogy with Resident Evil 3: Nemesis arriving on September 25. And like the previous two entries, Gog has done its job tweaking the game to make it “the best version possible” for modern audiences.
As with the other entries, here’s a rundown of what the Gog crew have done for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis:
Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11. Six localizations of the game included. Mercenaries Mode included. Improved DirectX game renderer. New rendering options. Improved graphics engine initialization and restart. Improved video subtitles. Improved options dialog. Issue-less task switching. Improved mouse cursor visibility. Director Zach Cregger was announced last week as the director of Clue – but now he’s swapped that for a Resident Evil reboot.
Zach Cregger is no longer directing Clue. Instead, the Barbarian director is swapping Sony projects, moving from one movie featuring grisly deaths in a mansion to another movie featuring, well… grisly deaths in a mansion.
Just days after being announced as the director of a new Clue film, based of course on the popular murder mystery board game (known as Cluedo in these parts), Cregger has now exited the project.
Cregger isn’t leaving the Sony stable, however. Instead, he’ll be moving over to the PlayStation Productions arm of the studio to tackle a reboot of one of the studio’s most popular and enduring videogame franchises: Resident Evil.
According to The InSneider, the decision comes largely down to money. Cregger is reported to have wanted $4m to direct Clue,...

As eager as the Resident Evil community is for Capcom to remake Code Veronica, one of the franchise's most underrated games, the rumored project could be much smaller than expected. With Capcom's recent trend of taking older Resident Evil games and giving them a fresh coat of paint and modern mechanics, the question of Code Veronica's future is often discussed amongst fans. It may not have had the impact of the original game nor have the dedicated following of Resident Evil 4, but it's still a vital part of the canon that shouldn't be forgotten.
Over on Reddit, user Anthrax-Warhead shared a post originally published by reputable Capcom insider and leaker Dusk Golem alleging that the much-rumored Code Veronica remake will be smaller than the likes of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake has fans excited, but there’s also some concern. The remake is twice as long as the original game, as recently shared by the developers. For many, this sounds like a good deal – more game time, more content, and more chances to experience the eerie world of the game.
However, just because a game is longer doesn’t always mean it’s better. In fact, when it comes to horror games, a longer runtime can sometimes be a problem. The original Silent Hill 2 was tightly paced, with a story that kept players on edge from start to finish. Extending the game might drastically risk losing that tension.

While Baldur's Gate 3 may be Larian Studios' most recognizable project, fans of Divinity: Original Sin 2 can also enjoy some time in the spotlight thanks to its Ttrpg. When it comes to adapting video games into either board games or tabletop role-playing games, the results can be divisive. For every fantastic board game like Resident Evil 2, Slay the Spire, and Fallout there are duds like Dark Souls: The Roleplaying Game, so seeing the love and care Larian has poured into this Divinity game is exciting.

Over the years I've been pretty vocal about my desire for a new Dino Crisis game. I played the original round a friend's house when I was probably far too young - I was almost 8, the game was rated 15 here in the UK - because I was obsessed with dinosaurs at the time it launched, and their parents clearly weren't too bothered with the age rating on the case. After all, it was the 90s and Steven Spielberg's movie adaptation of Jurassic Park had captured the imagination of many through its groundbreaking visual effects that blended practical animatronics with computer generated visuals to truly make it seem like dinosaurs had been brought back to life.
Whereas those movies had a variety of games, from top-down shooters on the Snes to the side scrolling adventures of Jurassic Park on the Sega Genesis or The Lost World: Jurassic Park on the PlayStation,...

Ebert had no mercy for low-budget horror films, giving scathing reviews to like "The Guardian" and "Halloween III." He criticized the lack of originality and poor production in horror sequels like "Critters 2" and "Resident Evil: Apocalypse." Obscure horror films like "The Devil's Rain" and "Hellbound: Hellraiser II" fell short of Ebert's expectations, receiving low ratings.
Famed film critic Roger Ebert knew how to give a film that failed to live up to expectations its just desserts, especially when it came to horror. One of the most famous and beloved movie reviewers of all time, Roger Ebert clearly didn't have an equal love for all genres, with horror being particularly low on his list of favorites. In particular, he famously disregarded the slasher genre, which he derogatorily referred to as "dead teenager films." Thus, it's no surprise that horror movies feature heavily on Ebert's list of most hated films.

After gracing fans with the 1996 PC port of Resident Evil back in June, fans have been waiting for the port of 1998’s Resident Evil 2 to show up on Gog. That day will be coming soon enough, as Gog has announced that Resident Evil 2 will arrive on the site on August 27.
Gog says that this version of the game “fully reproduces the original elements of this game released in 1998”.
Much like what the Gog team did with Resident Evil, they’ve gone back and tweaked some things for the sequel to make it playable for modern PC gamers that might not have the patience for setting things up. That includes full Windows 10 and 11 support, 6 localizations of the game, new rendering options, improved audio volume and panning, reworked key binding setting and audio settings and more.

Spaced is a love letter to nerd culture with a unique blending of Sci-Fi and comedy. The series has top episodes showcasing Tim's fan culture obsession and pop-culture references. Despite ending early, Spaced remains a classic hit for comedy fans, offering unique and relatable content.
British comedy may not always be to everybody's taste, but it has introduced the world to some of the biggest names in comedy. Whether it's Ricky Gervais' portrayal of David Brent in The Office or Steven Coogan's Alan Partridge, these names have gone on to dominate Hollywood and beyond. The 2000s was a fantastic era for British comedy, not only because it was so diverse, but because it offered stand-out comics the chance to really push the limits of what can be shown on terrestrial television.
Spaced first arrived on screens back in 1999 and, on the surface, seemed to be an average sitcom about two friends living together.

Dead by Daylight is known for its terrifying atmosphere and a roster full of iconic killers from horror franchises, including Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Ghostface, Pyramid Head, and many more.
The game’s unique blend of multiplayer survival horror makes it the perfect home for some of gaming’s most frightening characters. Some characters from other games seem like they’d be a natural fit, bringing their own scary abilities and terrifying presence into the game. Here are five characters from other games that would feel right at home.

Big Daddy, the monstrous protector from the Bioshock series, would be a terrifying addition to the game, and be a different type of monster compared to the existing ones. With his massive drill arm and heavy footsteps, he would strike fear into the hearts of any Survivor.

Fans of zombie video games are about to have a field day with this one, as the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is going to drop something that’ll bring the whole fan club together.

The new Dlc for the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster includes a faithful recreation of the Licker from Resident Evil 2, and it honestly might be a little too faithful considering how grotesque and fleshy it looks.

Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, fans of the Resident Evil video game series had but one dream: to see the franchise brought to life on the silver screen under the stewardship of George A. Romero, the originator of the zombie picture. The closest we ever got to that (specific) wish fulfillment was an admittedly awesome commercial for Resident Evil 2. Soon enough, however, Capcom's best-selling series hit theaters worldwide thanks to filmmaker Paul W. S. Anderson.

Capcom recently released its latest financial reports, and the company’s performance is garnering quite a bit of attention. While Capcom’s earnings are down year-over-year, the studio reports that all of its divisions have outperformed internal expectations so far and that the company is well on its way to meeting or surpassing its expectations for the year.
Normally, this information would only be of interest to Capcom shareholders, executives, and fanboys with emotional investments in the company. In this case, though, we’re talking about more than a fiscal quarter. Roughly 10 years after Capcom appeared to be a company in crisis, they are now thriving at a time when turmoil has come to define much of the rest of the video game industry. Leon S. Kennedy's iconic outfit shines in this realistic cosplay, embodying his evolution from rookie to top agent. The attention to detail in the cosplay, from his outfit to his hair, led some to mistake it for official marketing material. Leon's popularity as a character in Resident Evil is evident, with fans praising his cool demeanor and compelling character arc.
When it comes to Resident Evil, there isn't a character as cool and calm under pressure as Leon S. Kennedy, a trait that's brilliantly displayed in this excellent cosplay. While he may have been a greenhorn police officer in Resident Evil 2, by the time the fourth game rolls around he's graduated to being one of the best spies in the United States, even functioning as the President's go-to solution to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Well, not every Resident Evil game can be a winner. Sure, the remake of Resident Evil 3 wasn’t as big of a hit as the Resident Evil 2 remake, but that all pales in comparison to the recent iOS port of Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which has sold around 2,000 units since its launch earlier this month.
Per Mobilegamer.biz, the port of Capcom’s 2017 hit has been downloaded just over 83,000 times since it was released on July 2, with under 2,000 users deciding to plunk their money down to unlock the full game. This has translated into Resident Evil 7 earning Capcom an estimated $28,140 on iOS, and that doesn’t include Apple’s cut of the revenue.
It also probably doesn’t help that Resident Evil 7 is only playable on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and iPads with an M1 chipset. Products that Resident Evil fans aren’t going to be spending...

Some remakes greatly improve upon the originals with modern visuals and controls, attracting new players. The overarching popularity of remakes shows a demand for nostalgia and modern upgrades. Remakes revive iconic games for new audiences, blending original charm with visual enhancements.

Despite releasing in 2007, the original BioShock is still very playable by today's standards even if some aspects haven't stood the test of time. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a revamped version of the original game with improved graphics, controls, and mechanics. The game will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, apparently being billed as a true current-gen experience. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster retains the game's core mechanics and light tone, offering a fun sandbox experience with quality-of-life improvements.
18 years after its initial release and eight years after its HD remaster, Dead Rising will get another new version: Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. This is the first release for Capcoms campier zombie series since 2016, when Dead Rising 4 fell far short of the companys estimated sales numbers. Now, Dead Rising is crawling back out of the grave for another trip to the Willamette Parkview Mall. However, unlike the zombies in the game, it looks better than it ever has.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has completely overhauled the games graphics, reconstructing the original game within Capcoms Re Engine.

In the Resident Evil 2 Remake, all your favorite puzzles are back, including moving the library shelves to get to a crucial location to finish the game. This will be slightly different depending on which character you are playing, either Leon or Claire, and will require several different steps in different locations to complete.
Many of the puzzles in the Resident Evil 2 Remake can be complicated and require multiple steps. The chess puzzle might be the most infamous one, but players must find card-themed keys, switch out different parts, and take special items to the right locations to solve the library shelf puzzle. This is crucial because without doing so, you cannot enter the part of the Clock Tower that will allow you to leave the Raccoon City Police Department.

Available to both Leon and Claire, it's a great example of how the game locks its best rewards behind its most devious puzzles. To unlock the case, you'll need to brave the dark zombie-infested halls of the Raccoon City Police Station to find the right items.
The Special Weapons Case is located in the Underground Stairs in the Underground Facility area. You'll come across this area after collecting the Police Station Medallions in Resident Evil 2 Remake and opening up the hidden passage. However, the case can't be unlocked until later when you have the S.T.A.R.S Badge.

Resident Evil fans are in for a nostalgic treat. The series has returned to PC through Gog, thanks to a collaboration between Capcom and CD Projekt. The original game, not the remastered version, is now available on the store for $9.99.
This re-release includes quality-of-life improvements and enhanced compatibility for modern systems. Additionally, Resident Evil 2 and 3 will join later in 2024, with a bundle deal available for those interested in purchasing all three games.

The franchise first made its debut on PC in 1996 but has been absent from digital storefronts until now. While the remastered versions are available on Steam, the original versions have not been released yet.

While it’s not quite the Resident Evil that many are hoping for from Capcom, it’s still a welcome sight. After reports surfaced earlier this month, Gog has revealed that the original PC port of Resident Evil is now available on the service, with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis coming later.
The 1996 port features all of its content intact, as well as “quality of life improvements” and enhanced compatibility for modern systems.
In fact, Gog has listed off those compatibility enhancements:
Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11. All 4 localizations of the game included. Improved DirectX game renderer. New rendering options. Improved timing of the cutscenes. Improved game video player. Improved game registry settings. Issue-free game exit and task switching. Full support for modern controllers with optimal button binding regardless of the hardware and wireless mode.
No date has been given for the when Resident Evil 2...

Gog now offers the original Resident Evil game for $9,99, with plans to release Re 2 and 3 in the future. Fans can play the 1996 PC version with modern improvements like Windows 10 compatibility and updated cutscenes. The original game's campy charm remains intact, providing a nostalgic experience for fans of the classic trilogy.
The Resident Evil franchise has never been more popular but fortunately for those fans who appreciate the historic value of the series, they can finally see where the saga began without needing to purchase a PlayStation One. The original Resident Evil trilogy may largely be seen as synonymous with Sony's first console but the survival horror games were ported to plenty of other devices in the months following the original release. The PC version was famous for including plenty of uncensored content but that version has been lost to time, limited to physical copies that are tough to find.
