Alter Bridge have unveiled a 20th anniversary expanded vinyl reissue of their debut album One Day Remains via Craft Recordings.

The 2-lp pressing arrives in a plethora of colorways — a whopping nine in total — and features the original tracklist and six bonus tracks: the rare B-side “Save Me” closing out Side C, and a five-song 2005 live performance from Toronto’s Phase One Studios on Side D (four of the live cuts being previously unreleased). The live take of “Metalingus” can be streamed now ahead of the vinyl release.

Select color variants retail for $40 and are for sale exclusively on Alter Bridge’s online store. Each variant is limited to 300 copies.

Meanwhile, the worldwide release for the standard 2-lp black version ($33) is March 7th, with other exclusive retailers carrying the remaining vinyl colorways. A digital release featuring the bonus tracks is set for December 6th.

The holiday season is nearly upon us, and anyone with a yen to perform should seriously consider asking Santa for a fraction of Ringo Starr‘s musicianship, stamina and stage presence. The 77-year-old rock icon commanded the stage at Manhattan’s opulent Beacon Theater Wednesday night, spoiling a sold-out crowd of New Yorkers with over two hours of peace, love and music.

He was flanked by the longest incarnation of his ever-evolving All-Starr Band, featuring luminaries like power-pop wizard Todd Rundgren, Toto guitar great Steve Lukather, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, and Gregg Rolie, who recently reunited with his former colleagues in Santana.

One of these is Airheart: Tales of Broken Wings. A fishing and combat battle game that may be frustrating, but is also a hell of a lot of fun.

Airheart is a dieselpunk action game that puts you into the role of Amelia, a young woman with big dreams. Flying her plane through the skies doing battle against space pirates, she makes money from catching fish and salvaging parts from the wreckage of defeated opponents.

With its top-down view, there is an old school feel to Airheart, and the combat system does tend to back this up too. With the game also being a rougelike, expect a fairly frustrating...

With his feature directorial debut, My Dead Boyfriend, Anthony Edwards is enjoying life behind the camera -- something he appreciated long before becoming known as Goose in Top Gun or Mark Greene on NBC’s long-running medical drama, ER. “It goes all the way back to when I was 16,” he tells Et. “I always loved the technical side of film.”

And having acted for a decade before even joining ER, it was only natural for Edwards to take on the opportunity to direct an episode of the series, “Take These Broken Wings,” in the second season. “ER was a great place for my debut because I had the familiarity of all the crew and everybody,” Edwards says. “I could play and experiment with the ideas that I had of how to visualize it.”

Exclusive: Israeli drama from In Treatment writer-director picked up by WestEnd; first image revealed.

WestEnd has boarded world sales rights to Nir Bergman’s (Broken Wings, In Treatment) upcoming drama Saving Neta.

The Isreali feature, in post-production, tells the stories of four women whose lives change after their brief encounter with a man called Neta.

The film is written by Eran Bar-Gil and Nir Bergman and stars Benny Avni, Neta Riskin (A Tale of Love and Darkness), Rotem Abuhab, Irit Kaplan and Naama Arlaky.

Producers are Tami Leon, Avraham Pirchi and Chilik Michaeli (Big Bad Wolves) and executive producer is Rina Schneur.

The film’s crew includes DoP Lutz Reitemeier (Wadjda) and composer Asher Goldschmidt (White God).

The film’s first image shows Avni (as Neta) and Riskin (as Sharona).

A $500,000 film fund for first-time filmmakers has been launched in Israel for graduates of Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School.

The school has teamed up with French producer and distributor Arp Selection to invest $100,000 in one feature project a year for five years. Both partners will contribute $50,000 a year, with Arp taking French distribution rights to the project.

The winning script will be selected by an international jury comprised of Cameron Bailey, artistic director of the Toronto International Film Festival, Alberto Barbera, director of the Venice Film Festival, Michèle Halberstadt of Arp Sélection, France), and Renen Schorr, founding director of the Sam Spiegel Film School, in the first year.

Ram Nehari’s [pictured] “eccentric” romantic comedy Nils, a youthful tale about a gifted, mentally ill classical musician, Nir Bergman’s drama Saving Neta and Elad Keidan’s Our Economic Situation have won the top prizes at the Jerusalem Film Festival’s Pitch Point event.

The event aimed at connecting Israeli feature projects with international producers unfolded on the fringes of the festival on Monday and Tuesday.

Nehari’s Nils clinched the €7,000 Cnc Award sponsored by France’s National Cinema Centre (Cnc). Produced by Yifat Prestelnik, the film revolves around romance between two young patients of a mental hospital who escape together.

Director Nehari, who has made several successful romantic comedy series for Israeli television, said the work was inspired by his work mentoring and directing short films by mentally ill people. He said the key characters would be “chemically and emotionally unbalanced.”

Alter Bridge are fast becoming a household name due in no small part to the angelic tones of lead vocalist Myles Kennedy’s stint as Slash’s frontman.

Imprinted indelibly on my memory right from the first mention, how could I not follow it up and discover what mysteries lie behind the bombastic moniker? It immediately impresses me with its shocking violence and promises brutal action, intense energy and all the other sadomasochistic kicks I crave in my cinema trips. Welcome To The Punch speaks directly to my psyche and is sold to my subconscious in only four words.

Last night was the last opportunity for final three on Season Three of The Voice to sing their way into America's heart, and they each went at it from a different angle. They were showcased with one song for voting consideration, one duet with their respective coaches and a reprise of the song that was considered their "breakthrough." The Voice's final live performances opened last night with a group rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," in somber tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Connecticut.

On a candlelit stage, all the contestants joined Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera in holding name cards of the victims and their ages, leaving not a dry eye in the house.

Then it was down to business, although very little from last night was likely to change the outcome. Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David have already distinguished themselves this fall.

We have no way of knowing how close the voting has been since the live shows began, but the three clearly have diverging fan bases and musical styles. It's all going to come down to whose fans vote.

Character actor best known for his role in The Italian Job

The distinctive character actor John Clive, who has died aged 79, will be best remembered by cinemagoers for his appearances in a string of films that gained cult status. In The Italian Job (1969), the British-flag-flying yarn about a daring heist in Turin using Minis as getaway cars, Clive was the garage manager gleefully receiving a wad of banknotes from the released convict Michael Caine as payment for storing his Aston Martin DB4 convertible. The scene was said to have been ad-libbed between the two actors, with Caine putting his enforced absence down to tiger shoots in India. "You must have shot an awful lot of tigers, sir," said Clive as he counted the notes enthusiastically. "Yes, I used a machine gun," retorted Caine.

Mike Pandey is one of India’s foremost wildlife and environmental filmmakers with over 300 national and international awards. He has made films like Shores of Silence, The Last Migration, Broken Wings and The Timeless Traveller.

The annal Toronto Jewish Film Festival in Toronto kicks off May 7 with 118 films from 21 countries, including 1 world premiere, 1 international premiere, 3 North American premieres, 34 Canadian Premieres, 7 free programmes and 1 World Class Film Festival. The festival runs until the 15 of May and will also feature a tribute to “Three Lennys” – Bernstein, Cohen and Bruce – with special guests Alexander Bernstein and Kitty Bruce; and with Offerings From Eytan Fox, Lou Reed, Claude Lanzmann, Dani Levy, Tony Palmer. Also the festival will screen China’s First Animated Film To Deal With The Holocaust.

In its' nearly twenty-five years of existence, the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem has become one of the best film schools in the world, a true garden patch of talented filmmakers have studied here. Equipped with the tools to create deep some of this country's moving films, several of the short films made by graduates have travelled the world to critical success. However, the school has also earned the belittling nickname "Same Spiegel", for most of the short films created by students of the school were simple dramas (esp. family dramas) with clear conflicts. Here's Eithan Weitz's take on the Best in Israeli Cinema in 2010.] Looking back on the year of Israeli cinema we first notice that there weren't any standouts such as Waltz with Bashir or Beaufort, meaning none of the films unveiled were exceptional in quality, however Israeli cinema did produce several strong and moving dramas, while the industry choose this year to test out the viability of new genre films. There was the hilarious and extremely successful comedy (a rarity in Israeli cinema) This is Sodom, and horror/slasher movie Rabies. A month and a half ago, everything seemed to be going well for Nir Bergman. His new film, Intimate Grammar was the favorite to win at the Israeli Academy Awards, and a release date was scheduled to a day after the ceremony. But then things took a turn for the worse. Being nominated for 12 awards, the Academy managed to ignore every single one of the people behind the film, and the film went zero for twelve. The outcome hit the movie hard at the box office. Originally the movie was released in medium release (in Israel, a theatre count of 20 or more is considered wide. Bergman's film was released in 12 copies all over the country), but now, with poor results, the movie is showing in about 4 or 5 venues. Another moving film unveiled at the Haifa Film Festival was the documentary entitled, Sharon Amrani: Remember His Name. Sharon Amrani was perhaps the most promising director from the Israeli Movie industry in the late 1990's. Bonfire Night, his graduation film from the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem, won several awards, and his follow up, a 50 min. TV drama entitled Goodbye Cousin, picked up plenty of praise from both from critics and his colleagues alike. He even begun directing a TV series called Jerusalem Mix, but then disaster struck: the 31 year-old Amrani drowned. "It's like if I was dead before directing Late Marriage", says Dover Kosashvili in the one hour documentary. Since the beginning of the millennium, Israeli films became the hit of the international film scene, but still, the unique voice of Amrani, torn between religious and secular worlds, is missing. This wasn't just a surprising ceremony. It was total humiliation. Intimate Grammar, Nir Bergman's moving story of a boy who mysteriously stops growing, was the favorite to win. Nominated for 12 awards, it was so highly favored to win that the printers were just waiting to complete the one sheet tagline, "Winner of Xx Ophir Awards." With a release date set exactly one day after the ceremony, this beautiful film didn't win a single award. Not even one. There's something fishy about why this went home empty-handed, since Bergman is very much appreciated in the industry, being involved in high profile projects in cinema (Broken Wings), and in television (In Treatment). MacGruber Blu-RayUNIVERSAL Home ENTERTAINMENT2010/Rated R & Unrated/Running Time 91 & 95minsAvailable September 7 – List Price $39.98Just because it makes a hilarious series of SNL skits, doesn't mean it would make a good movie. MacGruber is one of those films I watched in a theater and constantly muttered to myself “What the f*** is this?” I don't mind the idea behind the story, which basically takes elements from TV's MacGuyer and adds them to a ridiculous mullet-headed fool, but the film gets sooo asinine and stupid by tripping on its own ambitions. Star and writer Will Forte along with director/co-writer Jorma Taccone try too damn hard. Their attempt to expand upon their original material with extreme vulgarity and bathroom humor is so over-the-top, its no wonder that Paramount Pictures, the studio which produces and distributes most of the SNL movie adaptions, passed on the project. Makes me miss the days of Jake and Elwood.

With nominations being announced tomorrow, here are a pair which I've yet to see, but who should nab some mentions. Nir Bergman's Intimate Grammar Eight years after his hugely successful drama Broken Wings, Nir Bergman return to feature filmmaking comes via the big screen adaptation of David Grossman's novel. It tells of a young boy in 1960's Israel, who's physical growth mysteriously comes to a sudden stop. Starring Orly Zilbershatz Banai (who also appeared in "Broken Wings" and in "Walking the dog", a TV mini-series Bergman directed in 2006), Evelyn Caplon, and a cast of unknowns. Most critics who've seen the film state that Intimate Grammar is a moving drama, with the last 20 minutes of the film elevating it to a masterpiece status. It won Best Picture in this year's Jerusalem Film Festival, and is likely to receive the biggest amount of nominations, making him the frontrunner for an award.

After dishing out on some of the possible contenders, here's my second entry on the race for this year's Ophir Awards. Here's an overview of some more films up for awards: Dani Menkin's Je t'aime I Love you Terminal Working with a Before Sunrise/Sunset-like template, this is a tale of two young strangers “forced” to spend a short time with one another. Danny Niv (Aka "Mooki") is a well known Israeli rapper, who moonlights as an actor (he had a small part in the 2002's Broken Wings) and despite his good turn here, he is juxtaposed to a female character that is closer to Sally Hawkins's character in Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky than Julie Delpy in Linklater's classic, thus makes this fall into a mouldy sitcom territory. Menkin is best known for his doc film 39 Pounds of Love, but this attempt into the fiction film realm (see trailer) won't gain any traction among voters.
