Radha (Smita Patil) and Ramu (Mithun Chakraborty) are siblings. Their parents Shyam and Sita are singers. Once, Shyam and Sita go to perform in Jalpaiguri to get some money, since they are in a poor status and they have to pay a monthly rent. While performing in Jalpaiguri, Sita catches the eye of a rich and powerful man called A. M. Singh (Amrish Puri). He stops them in the mid way home, kills Shyam and rapes Sita. Radha and Ramu get the news that their parents are dead. The house proprietor banishes them and they become homeless. Years later, Radha and Ramu have achieved success and are popular singers now.
Highly Enjoyable dance musical with great performances by Mithun and Smita Patel as brothers and sisters who dance and sing their way from poverty to dancing successes; their chemistry is really good. You believe that they are brothers and sisters. The rest of the performances from the cast is great too, especially Amrish Puri, who is the epitome of a villain, and is really menacing as a sleazy slimeball who keeps the main protagonists' mother in his mansion after killing her husband.
Some of the songs are good like "Romeo" - and the finale features an impressive Mithun dance and fight sequence between him and Puri via hammers. Only annoying thing is the incidental music taken from Hollywood films, which, at times, is ill-matched to what's going on. Overall though, it's a grand entertainer full of dance, heart and a little tragedy.
