'LifeHack' Review: Screenlife Movies Get Their Own Heist Film With This Fantastically Tense Thriller
Watching Ronan Corrigan’s LifeHack transported me back to South by Southwest 2015, where I saw the premiere of Leo Gabriadze’s Unfriended. I sat there enamored by what would become a landmark kickstart for the screenlife horror movement, hypnotized by its organic application of screen-locked cinematography. Corrigan’s devotion to authenticity feels similarly meticulous, a testament to the reported five years it took to produce his feature debut, LifeHack, which shot in a breakneck 10 days. The next generation of filmmakers emerges, wooing audiences with a screen-locked heist thriller that reminds of The Perfect Score but with graver stakes.

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson’s first meeting was sincerely heartwarming (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have become one of Hollywood’s most beloved duos, with their friendship tracing back to the early days of their careers. But what really caught Evans by surprise when they first met? It was Johansson’s “wisdom beyond her years”—and she was only in her teens.
In an interview with Variety, Evans reflected on his first encounter with Johansson while they were filming The Perfect Score—a flick they starred in before either was even remotely close to becoming Marvel royalty. “Not because of how she looked but because of how she had this poise, this wisdom,” Evans shared. “Everyone always says Scarlett is wise beyond her years. And she has been since she was in her teens.”

A little while before Captain America and Black Widow were kicking villainous behinds, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson were scheming to steal the future… well, sort of. 2004’s The Perfect Score paired the future A-listers up for a very different kind of mission where the stakes were good Sat scores instead of a hefty payday. But for a group of teens desperate to break free from the pressure cooker of high school, that might as well be the same thing.

As a key member of the Avengers and a pivotal character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Widow is immensely popular. She made her film debut in the Iron Man series and played a crucial role in the Infinity Saga until her character’s tragic death in the final two films. Scarlett Johansson’s tenure in the MCU effectively concluded with Black Widow’s death, though the character did receive a standalone prequel film.
Chris Evans had a similar trajectory as Captain America, debuting in a standalone movie and becoming one of the MCU’s most important characters before his story ended in Endgame with his character aging after time travel. While Evans’ departure from Marvel was amicable and marked by mutual respect, Johansson’s exit was marred by a lawsuit, which has since been resolved.

Scarlett Johansson maintained a fresh Rotten Tomatoes streak, despite a few misses, until 2017. Ghost in the Shell and Rough Night marred Johansson's Rotten Tomatoes trend. After 2017, Johansson's movies have continued to be fresh once more.
For years, Scarlett Johansson has maintained a spectacular Rotten Tomatoes streak that continues to this day, with the exception of two movies from 2017. Johansson's impressive career began in 1994, when she made her feature film debut in the movie, North. In 2003, she took on her first adult role in Lost in Translation. Since then, her participation in other indie movies and her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have afforded her worldwide fame. These days, Scarlett Johansson's movies are some of the highest-grossing and most popular films to date.
Scarlett Johansson's early Rotten Tomatoes scores are particularly hit-or-miss. It seems as though she could have a fantastic movie one year, then a completely awful one the next.

From Captain America and Buzz Lightyear to the Human Torch and even just playing himself (in Free Guy), Chris Evans has taken on some iconic roles. The Boston native has gone from that recognizable face in small efforts like The Perfect Score and Not Another Teen Movie to a quintessential Marvel-a-lister.
In 2019, Evans appeared in four feature films, including two MCU hits and the surprising box office smash Knives Out. He's everywhere; we can't wait to see what's next. Besides his beloved role as Steve Rogers (which Evans likely won't return to), the actor has also extended his reach to other film adaptations of comic books and graphic novels, such as Tmnt (2007), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and Snowpiercer (2013).
In addition to gracing the screen, Evans made his directorial debut in 2014 with the romantic drama Before We Go, which he also produced and starred in. He also made his Broadway...

Los Angeles, May 10 (Ians) Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson, has revealed that she and Chris Evans earlier made a hush-hush trip to Los Angeles to visit Jeremy Renner, who was involved in a near-fatal accident on January 1 when he was crushed by a seven-ton snowcat.
The ‘Hawkeye’ actor broke more than 30 bones and suffered orthopedic injuries and blunt chest trauma while trying to reach his nephew who was stuck in a snowdrift, reports ‘Variety’.
“I was honestly so fucking happy to see him. I didn’t know if I was ever going to see him again,” Johansson said.
She told ‘Variety’ in a cover story about her 30-year career that includes eight Marvel movies, several of them alongside Renner.
She further mentioned, “To not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally. He’s a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person.

Chris Evans recently discussed if he'd ever host Saturday Night Light, calling the idea "terrifying." Appearing in minor roles in both film and television early in his career, Evans became an instant household name when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Captain America: The First Avenger. He returned to the franchise for two sequels and four Avengers team-up films. Evans has since expanded his filmography, starring in Rian Johnson's murder mystery Knives Out, voicing the iconic space adventurer Buzz Lightyear in the character's first solo film, and leading in his first television series Defending Jacob.
Speaking with Et Canada, Evans opened up about the idea of hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live. The actor praised his Ghosted costar Ana de Armas for agreeing to host the April 15 episode, but admitted that he has "avoided hosting SNL" for years. Evans shared that he doesn't see himself as...

Stu Macher is one of the most memorable Ghostfaces, and there are questions about whether Matthew Lillard appeared in Scream 4. Stu appears in the original 1996 movie and kills Woodsboro, California, residents under the direction of his friend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). Final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is shocked by the identity of both Ghostface killers, and Stu says one of the most notable quotes from the entire film when he cries that his parents will be angry at him for these murders. Unlike future Ghostfaces, Stu doesn't have a problem with Sidney or a desire for revenge.
After playing Billy's accomplice, Stu, in Scream, Lillard appeared in comedies and horror movies such as The Perfect Score, Wicker Park, and He's All That, along with portraying Shaggy Rogers in two Scooby-Doo movies. He also turned to drama, playing a man having an affair with a married woman in The Descendants...

Beyond packaging a film into a concise mini-movie (that can almost never run in excess of 150 seconds), trailers represent their moment of release more fully than nearly any other advertising. Accordingly they are a nostalgia trip of some higher order, the most random preview a compendium of faces, names, music, fonts there’s been little reason to think of in decades. Another experience entirely is watching 35mm scans of the previews, filled as they are with filmic grit, wear and tear, and a luminosity that recalls actually sitting in the theater at the time of release.
So I felt watching a preview for The Perfect Score, a mostly forgotten teen movie I have never seen, have never wanted to see, will probably never see. But the 35mm scan so evoked memories of 2004 in toto that I was, God help me, moved. YouTube user Denis-Carl Robidoux has uploaded, across two playlists,...

After their apparent exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers co-stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson will reunite in an interesting way for an upcoming movie at Apple TV+. Called Ghosted, the movie is described as a "romantic action adventure" story that features Evans and Johansson starring in the lead roles. The movie comes from Apple Studios and Skydance with Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) on board to direct.
Perhaps Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson will have some excellent on-screen chemistry in Ghosted, as they've been working together for years. Marvel fans will know that the two have both appeared in their respective roles as Captain America and Black Widow in Marvel's popular Avengers movies. They also co-starred alongside one another in 2004's The Perfect Score and 2007's The Nanny Diaries.
This reunion is also coming at an interesting time as it seems that both actors are finished with the MCU at this time.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that many of the cast members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have remained firm friends away from the world of superheroes and spandex, having worked together for close to a decade across a number of movies and co-starred in other projects outside of the studio’s output.
Some of these relationships go back years if not decades, with Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson first crossing paths in 2004’s The Perfect Score, while Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei played the lead roles in romantic comedy Only You way back in 1994. Hollywood is a surprisingly small town, and with an ensemble cast the size of the one required for any of the Avengers movies, a lot of the stars will have already been acquainted.

Chmerkovskiy was also touched by judge Len Goodman's kind words after the dance, after Goodman previously held off on giving them a perfect score.
"It feels awesome, it's nice to finally build a relationship with someone I’ve listened to for the last seven years," Chmerkovskiy noted. "And it's nice for him to validate my work as a teacher and her work as a performer."

Two years ago, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) made a friendly Super Bowl wager, since their hometown teams were playing in the big game. Both of these actors agreed to dress up in costume to visit children's hospitals in Boston and Seattle, and now Chris Evans is helping out his favorite hometown charity once again, Christopher's Haven. The actor is teaming up with Omaze for an exciting new challenge that will allow three lucky fans a chance to join Chris Evans for the escape room adventure of a lifetime. To give fans a taste of how this escape room adventure may pan out, Omaze released a new video that shows the actor pranking a few unsuspecting comic book fans.
Omaze released a new video today, which shows how they teamed up with the actor to turn a Boston comic book shop called Comicazi into a makeshift escape room,...

The briefest of glances at the box office achievements of any movie featuring superheroes clearly indicates the popularity of such projects. With such huge fan followings comes instant recognition for the performers involved, and entry into the amusing game of spotting superheroes assembling elsewhere. Sometimes, these are notable movies sprinkled in between super gigs. Other, more amusing times, these are examples of superheroes assembling before they ever became the legendary alter-ego that would inevitably define them for years to come.
There are some titles that feature just a couple of superhero combinations, or superheroes with supporting characters from superhero movies. For example, Batman And Hawkeye in The Town; Ant-Man and Catwoman in I Could Never Be Your Woman; Batman, Commissioner Gordon and Nick Fury in the 2014 Robocop remake; Groot and Batman in Boiler Room; Black Widow and Captain America in The Perfect Score; and Scarecrow, Carmine Falcone and Black Widow...

When Johnny Depp‘s mustache comedy “Mortdecai” brought in less than $5 million on opening weekend, it marked the A-list actor’s fifth straight box office bomb. But he’s far from the only top billed actor to endure a tanker or two.
The 51-year-old film star and his co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor and Olivia Munn are in fact in very good company.

[One of my favourite films of the year, so far, is heist movie The Art of the Steal; with the film set for release tomorrow, here's a reposting of my review from the films very limited cinema run. Why? Because this is one film I think everyone should see!]
I love a good heist (or caper) movie, of course as do many others out there, just look at the success of the “Oceans” franchise and the recent Now You See Me but my love does not end at the mainstream, I really love discovering hidden gems of the genre – films like Flypaper, How to Rob a Bank and The Perfect Score – so when I saw The Art of the Steal pop up on Amazon.com I knew it was a film I had to check out. Even more so considering it stars the legend that is Kurt Russell alongside the always awesome Jay Baruchel. So, thinking this is the type of under-the-radar flick that I’d dig (and that wouldn’t see the light of day...

So we all saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier. (Seriously, we all saw it.) And we’ve all had a good, long, thoughtful conversation about the deeper themes lingering under the surface of the paranoia-inducing, wiki-leaking, surveillance-state-exploding superhero sequel. But there’s a more obvious thing we need to address — a question hovering over the whole movie that remains unanswered. Captain America. Black Widow. Question mark?
To recap, with spoilers. At the start of Winter Soldier, Cap and Widow’s relationship has evolved a little since The Avengers. But only a little. They’re co-workers. Widow’s mildly concerned that...

Scarlett Johansson may be regarded as one of the most beautiful stars in the world, but she's also an actress who continues to surprise us.
Johansson has juggled various genres, from teen comedies like "The Perfect Score," to quirky indies like "Ghost World," to superhero blockbusters like "Iron Man 2." But this weekend we get the Jersey-fied Johansson in "Don Jon." Scarjo plays Barbara, the new girlfriend of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's porn-addicted title character.
We've seen Johansson on screen since she was just a kid, but there are still tons of facts that you probably never knew about the blonde bombshell, such as her rejection from Nyu's Tisch school or her near-casting in the upcoming "Gravity." Find out more little-known tidbits about the star below.
1. Even though 1998's "The Horse Whisperer" was Johansson's seventh feature film, she was given an "Introducing" credit in it.
2. She has a twin brother, Hunter Johansson,...

Most of you won't remember this, but there was a time when getting into college was more about taking the first step to a bright future and less about self-inflicted, crippling debt and lifelong lament that someone actually allowed you to major in French Literary Deconstructionism.

It would seem the CW has a bit of an obsession with The Hunger Games, or at least the popularity surrounding the brand. Recently, the network put in orders for two new reality shows, one of which is very clearly inspired by Hunger Games, while the other… isn’t at all, so we’ll deal with that one right out of the gate. It’s a dating game show called The Perfect Score and two friends compete to pick their ideal mate. It’s boring and not worth getting in to. The other show, The Hunt, has a little more bite to it.
It may be an idea blatantly based on an already established property, but so was Survivor when it was first developed – remember Cast Away? Now, Survivor can hardly be compared to that Tom Hanks movie as the idea of playing the game has taken over the idea of surviving.

When The CW announced its pickup of reality series "The Hunt" on Wednesday, critics immediately saw it as a move inspired by the success of "The Hunger Games" franchise. Described as a "thrilling one-hour competition series," "The Hunt" sends young people in teams of two out into the wilderness without food, water, or shelter.
Seriously.
Twelve teams will go out into the wilderness to compete in an athletic game where they'll have to rely on survival skills and hunting skills to "survive" without being captured by another team. They'll endure harsh conditions, but ultimately, they could win a major cash prize.
While it definitely has shades of "The Hunger Games" tributes' struggle to survive, without all the murdering children, it's much more derivative of "Survivor."
The CW also picked up half-hour reality series "The Perfect Score," in which 12 players take compatibility tests to find out which of their fellow contestants is their ideal date.

This is miserable! How can season 14 of Dancing with the Stars already be coming to a close? How?! We've gone through Maria Menounos almost breaking her face, Katherine Jenkin's back issues, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Melissa Gilbert receiving low scores for no reason, Jaleel White's drama off set and William Levy becoming a huge star in the states. But now, sadly, it will all be coming to an end on tonight's finale.
Talk and share everything Dancing With The Stars! Join DWTSOlogy!
Katherine came out on top with a perfect score Monday night but Donald and William were close behind with 59 each. Donald's freestyle dance stole the show, but could that help him win it all? Will we be seeing more of William shirtless tonight? What will past contestants be dancing to? (Don't think we forgot about Gavin coming back!) Only a few more hours until the big show...

In a new interview with Prestige Hong Kong, Chris Evans is quoted as saying, "I've made about 20 movies and I'm probably proud of three." He went on to say that he hates doing press tours because there's nothing worse than putting on a brave face to promote "piece[s] of shit."
Video - Chris Breaks His Shirtless Ban
So which of his movies is Chris a fan of? My guesses:
1. Captain America / The Avengers
His initial entry into the superhero franchise was an intelligent, adult adventure with a lot of potential ... which was perfectly capitalized on in Joss Whedon's now-blockbuster convergence of characters. If Chris isn't pleased to be part of this all-star assemblage, I'd be shocked.

Avengers Assemble (aka The Avengers)
Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders | Written by Joss Whedon, Zac Penn | Directed by Joss Whedon
As a comic book nerd I’ve eaten up every superhero film Marvel has released, from Iron Man to Captain America and everything in between. But still I had nagging feeling that Marvel’s attempt at an ensemble Avengers film was, at worst, doomed to failure and at best would be merely lacklustre.
How wrong could I be. Imagine an issue of The Avengers. Then imagine that wrote huge on the big screen. It’s that good. So good in fact that I sat through the entire film with a huge grin on my face and the odd tear in my eye too…
Wasting no time in recapping origins or even truly explaining how...

Last year, Chris Evans complained to Moviefone that no one's ever seen his "good films," like Danny Boyle's cerebral space thriller "Sunshine" or Evans' turn as a drug-addicted lawyer in "Puncture." Therefore, it's not a huge surprise the "Avengers" star just admitted to Hong Kong's Prestige magazine that out of the 20 movies he's made, he's "probably proud of three" of them, one being last summer's "Captain America." "At the point of 'Captain America' being offered to me, I had already made quite a few stinkers," said Evans. "I couldn't afford to make another one, let alone another one on that scale. If you make one that big and it fails, your days are numbered." So what are the films he's not proud of? We can (presumably) count his other superhero role in "The Fantastic Four" movies, the rom-com "What's Your Number?" with Anna Faris and the long-ago teen caper...

Today sees the release of "The Hunger Games," the much anticipated adaptation of the popular young adult novel series about a future in which children are forced to compete in a fight to the death for the entertainment of the upper class, and to help their district fight off starvation. The books have been bestsellers, and Lionsgate have pegged the film to be their own answer to another hugely popular teen-skewing franchise, the vampire romance "Twilight." And it looks as if the gamble has paid off, with most prognosticators pegging the film to open well over $100 million in the U.S. this weekend.
But all things come to an end, and while "The Hunger Games" is only just hitting theaters, sequel "Catching Fire" is already set for release in November 2013, with final "Mockingjay" presumably following another eighteen months or so after that. And when you figure in that "Harry Potter...

News broke today that Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace, thanks to its recent 3-D re-release, is on track to surpass 2008′s The Dark Knight in box office grosses. This infusion of money will make Phantom Menace the 10th highest-grossing film of all time. Many would argue that Christopher Nolan’s twisty Batman Begins sequel is far superior to George Lucas’ uncontrollable exercise in CGI, and it got us thinking: Are the newest crop of movies to join the top 10 (six since Avatar kick-started a box office frenzy in 2009) demonstrably worse than their chart-mates? Well… yes and no. See the new top 10 list below.

When Marvel first announced Captain America: The First Avenger I had little hope for the latest big screen outing for the star-spangled Avenger. Well time is nearing to Zack Snyder and Chris Nolan’s casting net catching the new Man of Steel for their reboot of Superman and now we know they want some lesser known to unknown for the coveted role of Superman/Clark Kent. I thought I would take the time put some lesser known names out there that would be good to look at for this film. I have heard of these guys but that’s my job to know these names but to many out there these are dudes they have never heard of. So without furthur ado I think the best choice from all these candidates is Henry Cavill. I think he has the look, the chin, the height, the physical attributes in spades but he also has the acting chops that you’d want in newcomer actor. So who do you like out of our list?

An amusing little conversation popped up on the twitter, and (of course) it centered around the nerd-tastic appearance of the entire Avengers team on the 2010 Comic-Con stage together. We still have the Thor and Captain America flicks to look forward to (which is good because The Avengers isn't due until 2012), but that means we'll have plenty of time to contemplate the previous permutations of this Marvel-ous squad.

Chris Evans is probably best-known for playing Johnny Storm in the "Fantastic Four" movies -- and he's about to become even better known now that he's been tapped to play the title role in "The First Avenger: Captain America."
So if you're not familiar with the Evans oeuvre, we thought we'd offer some highlights -- and lowlights -- from his career, starting with his best-known role.
"Fantastic Four" (2005) and "4: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (2007): The other Marvel franchise Evans starred in gave back some of the good will Hollywood had earned with comic-book movies like "Spider-Man" (the first two, anyway) and "Batman Begins." The movies are a little goofy -- Ok, a lot goofy at times -- but they do feature lots of scenes with a shirtless Evans -- and judging by the number of "Chris Evans is hott!!!" videos on YouTube, people like that.

The speculation about who will play the iconic role of Captain America in Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America has gone on for weeks, however now it seem that the journey to find the ideal actor my have ended… THR’s Heat Vision reports that Marvel have offered actor Chris Evans the role of Captain America/Steve Rogers – whilst there is no official statement from Marvel, unless Evans turns down the role he’s the man to play Cap. THR state:
Evans’ offer would include starring in up to three “America” movies plus “The Avengers” movies and appearances in several other Marvel movies. While an offer to star in “America” may seem like something you don’t have to mull over too long, one possible complication is that Evans is committed to co-starring in the Anna Faris romantic comedy “What’s Your Number?” Both are scheduled to shoot this summer.

At one point our little geek hearts leapt up when Jensen Ackles was briefly mentioned, or Chris Pine looked poised to grab the mask and shield. That’s all behind us now, though.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chris Evans (Push, The Fantastic Four) has been offered the role of Captain America in Joe Johnston’s big screen adaptation of the beloved character. Evans has a couple of projects currently lined up, including one just wrapped called Puncture, and there’s the possibility that if he takes the Captain gig, some of those that have yet to film might fall by the wayside. Let’s not forget that America comes with a deal for 9 options. Pretty heavy.
