    Meh...

How was this movie different from their other movies. I have only seen Mary Kate and Ashley play one type of character ever. Wouldn't you think that they want to play a variety of characters? Plus the plot was barely even there, and that little amount of plot was pointless. This "movie" really sucked.

    It wasn't THAT bad!

Okay, I admit, the Olsen twins are more for little kids then for serious movie buffs. I like their movies because they are clean and appropriate for younger children. These girls are better role models then Brittany Spears or Christina Aguliara. Getting There is one of my favorite movies that the Olsen Twins have made. I did notice lots of little goofs, but it is a B-list movie, so we can't expect perfection. I recommend this film for families that want to watch a wholesome film that everyone will enjoy. Anyone who is waiting for their driver's licence can relate too. I own it and have seen it about a billion times! Everyone makes fun of me because I like the Olsen Twins movies. At least I am not filling my mind with violence or sexual scenes.

    Their worst one ever

I hate this movie so much. It's their worst one. The plot is pointless. It takes them forever to get there and when they do get to Salt Lake City, it's not a euphoric feeling that they finally reach their destination. My life as a teenager sucks so maybe why I have such animosity for this movie cuz their parents are allowing them to drive out of the state with other stupid teens. And don't forget that stupid girl in the movie. An absolute airhead. My goodness do I hate this movie. I don't recommend this movie.

    The worst of Olsen Twins

This movie is no doubt the worst job they have ever done. The characters, pathetic, especially those dumb guys, and the plot... what plot? There's no worth wasting your time with this movie, and I hope people here do not see this stuff.

    The glory of Toast!

This movie made me want to eat my own face. I'm always excited by how attractive the Olsen Twins are becoming, and the thought of them as young women in their twenties is more encouraging by the day, so where this movie has both of them getting their driver's license...well, I'm just happy to see time passing by so quickly. However, wow! Their movies are BAD!

Clearly, I'm not the ideal audience for this. Not rich, not a girl, not 13, no acute brain trauma that I'm aware of. So I shouldn't have rented this expecting highbrow entertainment, or a steamy seduction scene. Rather, I was treated to smoldering montages of youths enjoying winter sports, miscommunicating as per various modes of transportation, eating at a buffet. And, yes, the wonderful boy-clown, Toast! Good, funny Toast! Toast is a young man who is given the distinct comedic trademark of unintentionally wetting meals that people are excitedly preparing to eat. This happens on more than one occasion, and is surely the high point of the film. God love you, Toast!

I want to stop thinking about this film, it really is making me want to cry. Loud, racking sobs. Oh. Oh.

On another note, and a rather unexpected one: This soundtrack for this movie isn't half bad! Seriously! (I was rather hoping to hear "Fashion Junior High" though. That song rules!)

    • Trivia
When this movie was filmed, Mary-Kate and Ashley were still only 15 years old and did not have their drivers' licenses yet (age limit for getting a drivers' license in the US is 16). With their learners' permits they were only allowed to drive when accompanied by a licensed driver. For this reason, all the scenes with the twins "driving" had to be faked, with their car actually being towed by another car.
    • Goofs
The final shot of the twins' wet birthday cake (soaked by Toast's 'cannonball' into the swimming pool) is flopped: not only is the model Ford Mustang on top facing in the opposite direction than before, but the lettering on the "SWEET 16" banner is in reverse.
    • Quotes

      Charley Simms: Hey, I'm Charley.

      Taylor Hunter: Taylor.

Charley Simms: You're either a mirage or lost cause I've never seen anyone my age around here.

      Taylor Hunter: I'm real.

Charley Simms: How did you get up here? Sorry, none of my business.

Taylor Hunter: All I wanted was to go to the Olympics. Is that so much to ask. I mean I worked my butt off to get those tickets. I should have gone by myself, but no I had to make it a group trip with my sister and friends. And my luck I got stuck with a group that can do absolutely nothing right! My car got stolen, the Caddy got spiked, we flew to the wrong San, I got stuck with a $450 cab ride, we did migrant labour, our steaks got e-lemonated, we got on the wrong bus, we're 120 miles from Vegas. The Olympics are almost over, I thought I lost my sister and thankfully some good news, found my sister!

Charley Simms: Thats the saddest story ever.

Taylor Hunter: No but, its definatly in the Top 10.
