A one-of-a-kind John Prine performance will be released in vinyl form this year. John Prine and Friends Live at 2017 Newport Folk features an all-star guest list of artists including Justin Vernon, Margo Price, and Jim James.

He says the show is not about Covid but highlights medical trials that have taken place across the world for decades now. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has been appointed the new chairman of National School of Drama (Nsd). The prestigious institute announced the news on Thursday on its verified Twitter account.

"We are glad to inform Hon'ble President of India @rashtrapatibhvn has appointed renowned actor & Padma Shri @sirpareshrawal as chairman of @nsd_india. Nsd family welcome the legend to shower his guidance to Nsd for achieving new heights," read the tweet.

Rawal, also a politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, started his acting career in the eighties. Widely respected for his versatility, he has impressed with numerous award-winning arthouse performances as well as roles as the villain and the comedian in mainstream Bollywood films.

Veteran Bollywood actor-screenwriter Kader Khan died Monday after a long illness at a hospital in Toronto, Canada, his family confirmed to Indian media outlets. He was 81.

“My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness,” his son Sarafaraz told India news agency Pti. “He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks.”

Born to an Afghan father and a mother from British-controlled India, Khan made his acting debut in 1973 in Daag: A Poem of Love. It is necessary to clarify on behalf of my client that:

Firstly, there is no contempt of court order against my client , there is only a show cause notice issued by the Hon`ble Court which my client shall be replying to.

Secondly, the statement that legal notice have been sent to the director and to the actors also seems to be false to the best of the acknowledge of my client.

Thirdly, the statement that my client`s previous counsel Chirag Modi had informed the court on August 9th , 2016 that his client had nothing to do with Aankhen 2, is also absolutely false.

Just yesterday, there were reports stating that the Aankhen sequel had run into legal trouble with producer Gaurang Doshi being slapped with a Contempt of Court order and also that the cast members of the film had been served notices. Now clarifying on the same Gaurang Doshi's legal counsel states, "Firstly, there is no contempt of court order against my client, there is only a show cause notice issued by the Hon`ble Court which my client shall be replying to. Secondly, the statement that legal notice have been sent to the director and to the actors also seems to be false to the best of the acknowledge of my client. The recent times are not seemingly right for the filmmaker Gaurang Doshi. Only a few days back, he made news by claiming that 'Ileana D'Cruz had agreed to be a part of Aankhen 2', something that Ileana D'Cruz had strongly denied. Ileana D'Cruz even threatened to take legal action for announcing her name as part of the film's cast. The latest update is that, Gaurang Doshi has been served with the Contempt Of Court notice by the Bombay Hc for launching & promoting Aankhen 2. The said contempt petition has been filed by Rajtaru Studios. Readers may recall that, a few months earlier, Tarun Agarwal of Rajtaru Studios Limited had questioned as to how Gaurang Doshi can make Aankhen 2 when they had acquired the rights of the film Aankhen from him years back and along with that, they also had the rights to make its sequel. While the first instalment of the film Aankhen that released in 2002 featured Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Bipasha Basu, the sequel will retain only Amitabh Bachchan with a new cast and will be directed by Anees Bazmee.

Time and again there have been speculations about the sequel to the suspense drama Aankhen which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal. Almost a year ago, it was announced that the sequel though will retain Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and Anil Kapoor's names were added to the star cast. However, now we hear that John has quit the film. In fact, there have been several rumours owing to John Abraham's exit from the film. From what we hear, a recent injury of the actor on the sets of Force 2 led to several delays in the shoot schedules of his upcoming films. Back in 2015, we had reported that Anees Bazmee was set on making the sequel to the 2002 crime caper Aankhen. In fact Bazmee had confirmed the same and had even started casting for the film. However, we now hear that a case of copyright infringement has been filed by Rajtaru Studios Limited against Bazmee and Gaurang Doshi. Speaking about the same Tarun Agarwal of Rajtaru Studios Limited says, "We had acquired the rights of the film Aankhen from Gaurang years back, and along with that we also had the rights to make its sequel. So how can Gaurang and Anees make the sequel without permission?" Further talking about the issue Tarun adds, "In 2014 we had filed a case with the High Court for copyright infringement, later the same year in its ruling, the High Court had ordered an injunction on making the film and had directed Gaurang and Bazmee to refrain from talking about the same.

Producer Gaurang Doshi, the man behind Amitabh Bachchan starrer, Aankhen (2002) and Deewaar: Let’s Bring Our Heroes Home (2004), has a couple of more up his sleeve. He has signed Anees Bazmee and Abbas-Mustan for his upcoming projects.

Anees Bazmee will be helming what he is best known for, a slick, big-budget, heist caper. Abbas-Mustan’s project, on the other hand, happens to be a never-seen-before adventure action romance with elements of spook.

Confirming this Gaurang says, “I always wanted to work with these directors and there couldn’t be a better genre, better cast and better scripts for these projects!“ The trade indicates that the cast for all the projects has been signed. Tight-lipped about his stars though, Gaurang adds, “What’s the fun in knowing everything all at once? the big announcement shall happens soon.”

Anees Bazmee could well be heaving a sigh of relief. His Welcome Back has finally released and a gap of four years since Ready (2011), a Rs. 100 crore affair with Salman Khan, has finally been closed. While the Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and John Abraham starrer is also doing fantastic at the Box Office, the maker of Welcome and Singh Is Kinng has now moved on to his next.

"First to go on floors would be Aankhen 2 with Amitabh Bachchan. Yet again, Amitji would have company of three blind men. However, unlike the first in the franchise, they won't be Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal or Paresh Rawal. Instead, new actors would be stepping in," informs our source.

While this would continue the trend of multi-starrers for Anees Bazmee, who has also made No Entry, Thank You and No Problem, the other two films would be a comedy followed by a love story.

A sequel was always on the cards, however, there were many speculations around it. But, now it is confirmed that Namastey England will have Akshay Kumar producing it as well as playing the lead. After Hera Pheri, Akshay Kumar has dropped out of another franchise. He won't be seen in the second instalment of the 2002 crime caper Aankhen. Neither would the original director Vipul Shah.

While Akshay Kumar has been replaced in the sequel by John Abraham (the same actor- colleague replaced Akshay in Phir Hera Pheri), Aankhen 2 would be directed by Anees Bazmee, Akshay's Singh Is King director. Incidentally, Singh Is King was produced by Vipul Shah.

With a chunk of the core team out, Aankhen 2 has gone for a complete change of profile. The show opened with rehearsal clips of the contestants showing how hard they had been rehearsing for this week’s performance. It also transpired that Shakti, Ashish, Mouni and Akshat were all unwell due to stress of rehearsals. Shakti was suffering from, low blood pressure and her doctor had advised her complete bed rest which meant she was unable to perform in this episode. She did however request her fans to keep voting for her. There was no face-off this week due to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival which meant all the contestants were safe.

There is good and bad news about the long-due sequel to Vipul Shah's 2002 thriller Aankhen. 12 years after Vipul Shah's directorial debut Aankhen, about a bunch of blind men undertaking a dare devilish bank heist, the film's producer Gaurang Doshi is all set to roll with the sequel.

Gaurang had a massive fall-out with Vipul Shah during the making of Aankhen. They parted acrimoniously and the sequel remained uncertain for all these years. Until now. Interestingly, Aankhen 2 will be directed by Anees Bazmee who had a fall-out with Vipul Shah during the making of Singh Is Kinng.

Confirming this Anees says, "Yes, Gaurang and I have met over Aankhen 2. I am now in Ahmedabad for a function. As soon as I return to Mumbai we'll finalize the details." Adds Gaurang Doshi, "12 years seems like a long time to sit on a sequel. But what to do? So much has happened since then. Aankhen 2 will have a completely new cast."
