After the deluge of Star Wars: Episode VII information that landed this past Friday, there's still more on the horizon (thankfully). Today, we got our hands on a new picture of the set currently at Pinewood Studios, showing that some desert scenes are still being shot for the production. Come inside to check out the new image and see for yourself!
Filming should be starting up again shortly for Star Wars: Episode VII, which has currently been on a planned hiatus from filming, and more information is expected to be released this week (wink, wink), but in the meantime, we've got a pic from the set for you to gander at (which we received courtesy of a fellow Star Wars fan Jason, who runs his own fan site):

Over the past week, there's been quite a big stink that was made about the issue of Empire Magazine that features a big story on The Dark Knight Rises. Several crummy looking scans of the images in the magazine have released, but finally we've got the high quality pictures to drool over.
Just a quick little update for you guys today as I'm sure many of you are still recovering from Thursday's gluttony. Anytime with a Chris Nolan movie (especially the Batman ones), it's always great to see Official images. After the deluge of grainy set pics we got over the past several months, it's especially rewarding to see these.
Let's face it. No matter how good a quality a set picture may be, it's still not representative of how something will look in the movie. The lighting, the frame of the camera, and most importantly post-production color correction are...

After the deluge of addiction memoirs over the last few decades (and the similar deluge of novels of "thinly-disguised" addiction fiction), I would've expected the reaction to Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man, gay literary agent Bill Clegg's memoir about his own descent into crack addiction, to have been one gigantic, collective shrug — especially since it's pretentiously told in a stream-of-consciousness style meant to mimic the James Joyce classic Portrait of the Artist as a Young Men.
Instead, the book sold for a reported $350,000 advance and the author has been featured in eerily glowing profiles in Vogue and the New York Times.
What gives?
Oh, it's readable enough. It's not pleasant reading — addiction-related works never are. But it's competently done.
On the other hand, it doesn't say anything that hasn't been said thousands of times before.

As is the case with cooking, comic books require the right blend of ingredients in order to fully flourish. Thankfully, that's exactly what John Layman and Rob Guillory's "Chew" specializes in. If you've ever visited Smith magazine, you've probably been there for the great comics (A.D.: After the Deluge, The Pekar Project, Next-Door Neighbor, Graphic Therapy, Shooting War, and My Home Birth) and their innovative Six Word Memoirs. Inspired by the famous anecdote of Ernest Hemingway telling a complete story in only six words ("For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn") they've gotten enough contributions from readers to fill an entire series of Six Word Memoir books.
Amazingly, though, they haven't really combined the two.*
It works suprisingly well, and a few of them are already made for it-- "With great power comes great responsibility"; "Truth, Justice, and the American Way"; "Criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot"-- and so we've decided to jump start the process. So here are our first six:
Reed Richards: Don't worry, the shielding will hold.Batman: I promised on my parents' grave.Wonder Woman: War's easy.
