A match between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels was promoted in the weeks leading up to the event. But the match was cancelled after Hart and Michaels had an altercation backstage. Michaels wrestled Steve Austin instead and Hart did not appear on the show Hart and Michaels would face each other 5 months later at Survivor Series in the infamous "Montreal Screwjob".
