Must Watch

There are some movies that you have to revisit when you are "grown-up" and living in "the city".Those movies take you back through time to drop you somewhere when you were a kid. This is one such movie.

Mohanlal and Sreenivasan team up again to woo the moviegoers. Both of them have their own styles. And this is very well shown in this movie where they act as foils. One with the slapstick comedy and the other with the wooden face and serious look and yet evoking as much laughter as the other.Kartika has also done her job well.

The movie is unpretentious,a refreshing change from the movies now, full of multiplexes and fast-food romance. If you haven't already seen it and call yourself a Malayalam movie fan, please stand corrected.Either watch it or drop the tag!

superb comedy

this movie is a classic. it highlights the problems of the middle class. excellent screenplay by sreenivasan and brilliant performances by mohanlal, sreenivasan and karthika make the journey even more exciting. the comedy is as usaual hysterical especially sreenivasan's role...the village scenes of mohanlal are also shot very well....all in all a must see for every malayali. The strength of the movie is its tight screenplay and humorous dialouges .... mohanlal is as usual brilliant in every situation. songs by jerry amaldev are also catchy especially the "pavizhamalli" song.... karthika does well in her role. sreenivasan enacts the role of a policeman. the movie also has sukumari, thilakan and others.

Hilarious Flick!!

Another classic from the fabulous trio of Mohanlal, Sreenivasan and Sathyan Anthikad. A typical storyline of then times, casting the hardships faced by an individual in the society and all the weight of family on his shoulders. Though it has a striking similarity to the film T.P Balagopalan M.A, this film is even funnier.

Mohanalal is brilliant as the frustrated house owner Gopalakrishna Panikkar. Ridiculous attempts by him to persuade the occupants to vacate his house and the annoyance he causes the occupants are worth watching. Karthika also excels as the angry and confident head of the house who boldly withstands the pressures of the house owner. Sreenivasan as always makes the audience laugh with the role of an inspector. All in all a brilliant family flick. If you like gandhinagar 2nd street, nadodikattu and other anthikad classics, then you will definitely add this one to your likable list.

Absolutely Endearing Lalettan Classic

I absolutely love this endearing classic. It's too bad Lalettan and Karthika are not boyfriend and girlfriend in this movie as they are in other movies they were in together. Lalettan as Gopalakrishna Panicker may not be the nicest man but he does show a kind side in the movie. My favorite scene from an image standpoint is where Lalettan wears a beige dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up. Gopalakrishnan is wearing that shirt in his introduction scene toward the beginning of the movie where he gets pushed off the bus, the scene where he argues with Rajendran who is Sreenivasan's character, the scene where he goes to Sankaradi's office and the scene where he and Meera who is Karthika's character are in the clothing store. My favorite scene from an action standpoint is where Gopalakrishnan fights Damodaran and his goon apparently called Bolaram. I like the name Gopalakrishnan for Lalettan as it's one of my favorite Indian names. There were times where I imitated Lalettan by carrying an umbrella with me just to look cool. Lalettan looked very handsome in this movie and I like his short tempered personality. The scene I found cringe is where Meera and Monu were throwing his furniture and items out of the house and destorying it. It was just cringe to see that. There are other cringe scenes such as when Gopalakrishnan was yelling at Meera on the bus and then the other passengers getting into a scuffle with him. Although Gopalakrishnan is somewhat mean in the beginning, I can't hate him because he's very relatable. I mean sure he's aggressive with the tenants as he's in debt but he's not a bad guy. Poor Gopalakrishnan, he doesn't have a lot of friends and no one is in love with him but he's focusing on himself. However, he has a caring side which we see in the climax. He was likely feeling lonely in the end as the tenants left the 🏡 but he called Meera back and they start a new life together which is surprising but amazing. Lalettan truly deserves the Filmfare Award as Best Actor in this 🎥.
