Now, 30 years later, National Geographic has unveiled the trailer and key art for its new three-part docuseries, Oklahoma City Bombing: One Day in America, a raw and unflinching account of that tragic day, told by those who lived through it. The series premieres April 2 at 8/7c on National Geographic and streams the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

The children’s story has long inspired trippy, psychedelic-esque variations, frequently crossing through the childlike realm into adult themes. Company Xiv takes the adult themes to a new level with the theatrical piece Queen of Hearts.

Queen of Hearts is a slick combination of circus, dance, song and burlesque. In skimpy, eccentric clothing, performers bathed in red lighting execute Alice-inspired routines. Roku has revealed that Kathryn Hahn and J.K. Simmons have joined the third season of the Emmy Award-nominated Roku Original series Die Hart.

Tony Cavalero and Anna Garcia will also come on board as cast members for the new season. The series will premiere exclusively on The Roku Channel on Friday, December 13.

Japanese entertainment giant Toho announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire Gkids, the Academy Award-winning North American animation producer and distributor. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Gkids, which maintains offices in New York and Los Angeles, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Los Angeles-based Toho International. Gkids Founder Eric Beckman will remain as CEO, and Dave Jesteadt will remain as President of the company.

Beckman and Jesteadt have run Gkids together since the company first released the Academy Award-nominated film The Secret of Kells as a two-person company in 2009. Together, they have grown Gkids into a powerful force in the U.S. animation scene, amassing an outstanding thirteen Best Animated Feature nominations at the Academy Awards and a win last year for Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.

Adding a new song to her Country Hall of Fame resume and for her millions of fans to enjoy, entertainment icon Reba McEntire has teamed up with renowned songwriter Carole King and written the show’s theme song for her upcoming new NBC comedy, Happy’s Place.

The song, released by McA Nashville, is available across all music platforms and will also debut on the Happy’s Place series premiere, which will premiere on Friday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Happy’s Place will stream the next day on Peacock.

No Netflix series besides Bridgerton has more than one entry on Netflix’s Most Popular English-Language Series List. Shondaland’s Regency-era romance now has three, with Season 3 pushing down Baby Reindeer to enter the list at No. 10 with 91.90 million views half-way through its initial 91-day window. It joins Season 1, which is at No. 4 with 113.30M views and Season 2 at No. 9 with 93.80M views.

“We are grateful for the incredible response Bridgerton has received from fans all around the globe,” the series’ executive producer Shonda Rhimes said. “Shondaland is so proud that audiences far and wide have connected with our storytelling and the Bridgerton world we have built. We look forward to bringing more of this beloved universe to screens for years to come.”

Bridgerton has currently been renewed through Season 4, and Rhimes has said that she and her team have talked about the future through Season 6 or Season 7.

Rhimes shook up the TV business when she left her longtime home at Disney in 2017 for a mega overall deal at Netflix. All five seasons of Shondaland series released under the deal to date — Bridgerton seasons 1-3, prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story as well as another limited series, the contemporary true crime tale Inventing Anna — have spent time on Netflix’s Most Popular List. Queen Charlotte entered it July 23, 2023 at No. 10 with 80.30M views and remained on it for 28 weeks, with its final tally at 81.3M views; Inventing Anna landed on the list in March 2022 under a different methodology. Next up for the company is the White House murder mystery series The Residence.

Bridgerton‘s third season also extended the series’ status as a pop culture phenomenon which it claimed virtually overnight when it launched Christmas Day 2020 as a much needed respite from Covid.

In the 45 days since the debut of Bridgerton‘s S3A, the romance drama has amassed 5.7 billion owned impressions, making it Netflix’s second-most talked-about series or film behind only Stranger Things 4 and ahead of Wednesday, the No. 2 and No. 1 shows on Netflix’s most popular English list. Over that period, the social footprint of the show and its stars also grew by double or triple digits as did sales of Romancing Mister Bridgerton, on which the new season is based.

The halo effect extended to the Season 3 music, with Vitamin String Quartet’s renditions of “Happier Than Ever,” “Cheap Thrills” and “Dynamite” as well as the original songs all spiking on Spotify as much as +11,000%. Crunchyroll announced today that it has acquired North American and select international theatrical rights, including Mexico and Australia, for the ultra supernatural vampire film compilation Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- from Aniplex of America.

Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- is a three-film anime adaptation comprised of edited footage from the trilogy of films of the same name previously released in 2016 and 2017. It features animation produced by Shaft.

Back in 2018, news broke that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson was to stay aboard for Marvel Studios’ planned sequel to its 2016 blockbuster, with Benedict Cumberbatch also reprising his role as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Entitled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the project was touted as the MCU’s first horror movie, which seemed about right because Derrickson had originally come into the fold with a background in genre filmmaking. He’d already helmed the likes of Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, so he could likely balance the craft of unsettling audiences whilst maintaining a firm grasp on the Master of the Mystic Arts’ ongoing evolution.

Rlje Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, have acquired the North American rights to the horror/action film, Great White from Altitude Film Sales. Rlje Films plans to release the film in theaters this summer with Shudder premiering the film on its platform later in the year.

Written by Michael Boughen (Dying Breed) and directed by Martin Wilson in his feature debut, Great White stars Katrina Bowden, Aaron Jakubenko (“Tidelands”), Kimie Tsukakoshi (Riptide), Tim Kano (“Neighbours”), and Te Kohe Tuhaka.

The new issue of Empire hits the stands today, and behind that rather snazzy Daniel Craig cover lies an in-depth look at Skyfall, the new James Bond film that is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of the year. Our Dan Jolin visited the film's set and spoke to those involved, and here's what director Sam Mendes had to say.And it sounds like he's having fun.
