Spanish poster for The Thing
No shortage of new posters to report today, huh? Kino Gallery has the new Spanish one-sheet for The Thing prequel, which echoes the original film’s poster design. Check it out:

Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller The Thing, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.

Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime.

Cradlewood makers say it's like Twilight but for grown-ups
There's a rising market in fantasy/horror films with a strong romance backdriop to them. Bare witness to the Twilight craze and that's your answer for where the craze began. Whether the streak of hor-rom movies will turn into a genuine sub-genre with lasting legs remains to be seen, but for the moment Hollywood is getting the projects moving in the pipeline.

An indie project called Cradlewood is the latest film of this type to be announced. The Hollywood Reporter breaks the story about this new project and reveals that it's nabbed Ian Somerhalder, once of Lost and now of The Vampire Diaries, to play the lead male role. Somerhalder will play a rich man who is heir to a considerable fortune. He's in a relationship with an Australian woman (to be played by Emma Lung) and holding steady in life until he suspects that his partner is pregnant. That's...

From Writing about Winnie the Pooh to Penning 'Wanted 2'
Photo: Universal Pictures and Walt Disney This is such a small story it hardly warrants its own post, but when you get such an unlikely scenario as this it makes for interesting reading as The Hollywood Reporter reports Evan Spiliotopoulos, co-writer of Pooh's Heffalump Movie and its DVD Halloween spin-off, is writing the script for Wanted 2. Come on, that has to give you at least a moment of pause even though it really doesn't mean much. Spiliotopoulos' resume is filled with Disney features including Heffalump as well as The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure and Tinker Bell: A Midsummer Storm. However, looking back in time it appears he did write a couple of violent TV actioners as well as co-writer credits on the 2002 direct-to-dvd feature Bare Witness, which was rated R for strong sexual content, some language and violence. So, he isn't all puffy...
