Flop in Hindi but a super hit in Kannada

    Ashaant review :

An action bilingual made in Hindi and Kannada, Ashant starred Akshay Kumar and south superstar Dr. Vishnu Vardhan in lead roles with Puneet Issar and Jai Kalgutkar as villains. The plot revolved around a fake currency dye resulting in a cat and mouse chase between cops and gangsters.

Ashwini Bhave and Mamta Kulkarni played the heroines and a crucial sub plot comprised Vishnu Vardhan suspecting Ashwini having affair with Akshay. The hot and sexy Mamta Kulkarni sizzled in a two piece bikini in a song with Akshay. The duo rocked together again in producer Keshu Ramsay's super hit Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995).

Overall, Ashant was a routine actioner and the Hindi version bombed at the box office. Surprisingly the Kannada version titled Vishnu Vijaya became a super hit in Karnataka due to Vishnu Vardhan's massive fan following there. A classic example of how a superstar can turn an average film in to a money-spinner!!!

    Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

    Film Review

The only scene is liked in Ashant is the song -"Dil Ki Geary". Thats the sexiest song i have seen in my life. Akshay is a lady killer. The way he exploited Mamta in the song, throwing her about and playing with her body--it drove me crazy!!! Both (Akshay and Mamta) were thoroughly enjoying when doing the steamy scenes! The way Akshay ran to catch Mamta in the pool! IN short, Mamta was added in the film only for the song. She was tossed around by Akshay like a doll. She is so sexy. And she likes getting exploited thoroughly! Akshay is an expert when it comes to manhandling women! He sure knows how to handle them. And Mamta my god, that two piece bikini. She is mind blowing and sexy. She is too much

    Good acting by Akshay Kumar

Ashaant is a story of Police and underworld. Akshay Kumar and Vishnu Vardhan acted very well. The story is not very complicated. The name of the movie describes the condition of Akshay Kumar when he becomes outraged at the killing of his best friend by underworld. There was not much scope for the heroin in the movie. The best song of the movie is "dil ki ghadi arey ghadi ghadi na jaane kare kyon tik tik tik' sung by Kumar Sanu. In this song Mamta Kulkarni looks like a doll in Akshay Kumar's hands. She looks very pretty. A two piece swim suit worn by Mamta Kulkarni can also be seen in the song. The movie can be watched if you have two and a half hours to spare on an Indian movie.
